I am not saying you are, but this topic is different. The article was about Sushil Kumar talking about other sports players that aren't well recognized and Sangram as a person. He talks about sportspersons that don't get to be in public eye and that aren't well recognized. Technically it is true as a country we pay more attention to Cricket compared to other sports. It is a great topic to debate about. Then he delves into Sangram Singh as a person.
The way I look at it the article posted on the first page has nothing to do with your original topic about Sangram's false claims. Both are completely different topics. I'm not sure why you're bringing that up in this one. π
You are right Legolas3...βΊοΈ
Actually someone posted this same TOI link in another topic on Sangram, to claim Sushil's support debunks Sangram's false medal claim story. Thats why I said same topic doing rounds...so copy pating response...my bad!
Agree with you...its a sad reality that in India, other sports take a backseat to cricket...and it is really unfortunate.
And Sangram's fake claim of winning a Commonwealth Wrestling Gold Medal in 2006 in SOuth Africa, when fact is 2006 games were held in Australia and did not even have Wrestling as a Medal event, is a classic illustration of that unfortunate situation only!
If some one else claims he has an Archery Silver Medal in 2006 Commonwealth games or some Asian Games in 1990s, I very much doubt someone would even dig into it to ascertain whether its true or not. Such is the sad state!
In sharp contrast, only a fool would say he was in Mumbai Indians or Delhi Daredevils team in IPL...forget claiming to have played for India! Within minutes fans and media would expose him ruthlessly!
