Loved the Direction, acting , characterisation, dry comedy etc etc. every character made an impact even if they come for few episodes. I kind of travelled with the show, laughing, crying, getting hurt when walt gets hurt, hating Walt when he goes overboard with pride , elated when he gets lucky to escape from thrilling scenes, loved the unspoken bonding between Walt and Jesse. Had that empty feeling once i finished it. Ending was perfect , I was literally in tears near the end when Walt calls Skyler and acts as if he was controlling her all the time and also when he watches walter Jr from a distance. I was like why, why didn’t you stop at 637,000 . Another heart breaking scene was Hank’s ending and Walt’s reaction. It was totally worth to watch it like a crazy maniac - every minute I could steal.

Game of Thrones , I liked it so much but being a big fan of Jon snow I couldn’t digest the ending that much. Yes, final season was a big let down. I liked Vikings as well but last two seasons without Ragnar is boring. Started watching it only for Ragnar , his style, the way he talks, walks, his eyes, I am a big fan of Travis Fimmel 😳.

Ramya, I have seen Life is beautiful. It was really a beautiful and amazing movie. Me and my husband were avid movie watchers before kids were born. We used to go to specialty theatres where they play all language movies like Spanish, Italian etc. Used to watch all kind of movies like cinema Paradisco to Tarantino’s. In fact I am a big fan of Quentin Tarantino and kill bill is my fav movie. Nowadays it is very difficult to find time and watch movies, most of the time watching with kids so need to select movies suitable for them as well. I am really happy that I am able to discuss my other side here with you all, sometimes even I have forgotten that I had this side of mine.

what a write up honey ..the way you hve written about breakingbad....feel like watching it..

And about Life is beautiful.. Truly a masterpiece. Finding happiness even in a place like that.. Beautiful tragicomedy. And can't forget Roberto climbing seats when he won his Oscar for that film!

I doubt if they are very strict , and even if they are, parents will make a fuss for not allowing kid or will try to persuade them to allow as kids cannot go anywhere without them

Maybe in places like malls, there's a good chance of checking but in other places very doubtful

I had hangover for months after watching this and immediately I tried to see some videos in youtube which tried to do show analysis. The immediate thing I felt was that there was some "Indianness" with this series and it kind of gets reflected in many scenes - love for family, scenes where adults are being asked to restrain themselves from using swear words in front of kids /adolescents or forcing them to drink. Also some scenes where Jesse is asked to leave the house b his parent for being a messed up junkie to name a few

It came to me as surprise, like was wondering whether this series was like that or maybe my understanding of American culture is so wrong or biased

Thanks Ancy. Yes, give it a try but please watch atleast 3-4 episodes to really start liking it, like Harini I also tried watching it few times but could never get into it, couldn’t get past 2 episodes. This time after hearing Sarath talking about it so much, finally decided to watch it.

Harini, I like comedy too , watched few seasons of Friends , Big Bang theory. Also all Kamal/crazy Mohan comedy movies , Thillu mullu (my all time fav comedy movie), recent times Nanum rowdythaan, Naduvula konjam ... Even though I like comedy - I like dark movies , TV Shows more. liked Marma desam Tamil tv serial so much. A serial like that at that time period esp in Tamil was amazing. I think Kala somewhere mentioned about Theeran movie, even I got scared watching that movie - had to fast forward few scenes. After kids our perspective about life changes so much, not able to see that much Dark movies esp when it is related to kids (like Ratchsan movie).

I think , back at home in India , Some people have misconceptions about American culture. I used to argue with my sister when she talks about American people don’t care about their family. They get divorced, marry many times - selfish without thinking about kids , send kids out of home when they turn 16-17 etc. after living here for more than 15 years, I can definitely say they are not like that. They give as much importance to family as we Indians are , grandparents take active part in the life of grand kids and even in a divorce there will be a big fight who gets to keep the kids. They have family get togethers for thanks giving and Christmas like rituals. They give respect to children and they never use harsh words or hit the kids for discipline. All they use is stern words and the kids would listen to them. Of course there will be some peaches where the parents behave bad, use bad words, violence and the kids learn from them. Only the extremities are shown in movies/TV shows which is not normal here.

One thing where I find them differ is they are all independent and never force themselves on others like a burden even if they are in 80s or 90s. They try to live alone as long as they can and move to old age homes even if they have son/daughter families. When the kids go out for college and stay outside , that is where they learn to be independent. Also I sometimes feel people here have detachment , kind of suppressing the care, love, behaviour. In our culture ,we are closely knitted like being in joint family and grown up kids staying with parents till marriage, parents staying with son/daughter family etc. Both the cultures have their own advantages and disadvantages I think.

It was ahead of its time and had this unique concept "Andru" ad "Indru" which attempts to show the past and present, how actions in the past has impacted whats going currently and they bring it to a point where they merge past and present. In tamil serials, could say truly world class(dont know if I'm exaggerating here), had a purpose in each of these episodes where the Director had a plan on how to end it.

One of the reasons why I dont find it interesting to watch any of the tamil serials these days
(forum members adika vandhiruvaanga) is primarily because, they seem to start with something, dont know how to take it furthur, just go with the flow and do something random and then come up with an ending with all loose ends, which would have gone for about 5 years with 500+ episodes. I dint watch for so long but could guess.

But then again, I dont have any idea of how serials and serial artists work and what their compulsions are.Heard that usually these directors tend to change after a point and hence storyline/characterization all gets affected
