Chapter 27
The dock was full of men carrying guns and knives unloading boxes filled with drugs that were to be circulated in the entire city. Baadshah Khan was making sure that all the boxes were kept in a neat order so that his elder brother could do a head count before they started loading them into trucks. Mehmood Shah walked in with his own men guarding the entrance points keeping watch of unusual activity. Both the brothers hugged each other and then Mehmood Shah went for the boxes
MS: 2 boxes kam hain ismein
BK: Kya baat kar rahe hain Bhaijaan? Maine khud saare boxes saamne lagwaaye hain
MS: Tum kehna chahte ho ki hume counting nahi aati Baadshah-maana hum sirf 5th class tak padhe hain par iska matlab yeh nahi ki hume 1 to 100 counting na aati ho
BK: Ji Bhaijaan- main dekhta hoon
Suddenly the lights dim and Peer Mohammed comes out dressed in a belly dancer's outfit dancing to the tunes of Mashallah seeing him the rest of the gang also starts to sing and dance while both BK and MS stand shocked. Peer walks towards Baadshah Khan
PM: Aye zaalim tere ishq ne kya kar daala dekh kya tha main aur tune kya bana daala
MS: Yeh sab kya ho raha hai Baadshah
BS: Bhaijaan yeh Peer Mohammed ka dimaag kharaab ho gaya hai
PM: Bas yahi aprdh main Har bar karta hoon Aadmi hoon aadmi se Pyar karta hoon
MS: Baadshah iska mooh band karwaate ho ya hum iski jaan lele
PM: Chaahe jaan lelo meri tum aye nadaan- yeh dil toh bar karega pyaar...pyaar...pyaar
MS heard a noise of something falling so he walks towards to check it out when a mouse runs over from there
PM: Ya allah chooha- hume bachaao Baadshah (PM literally clings to BK while MS walks towards them with a stoic expression)
BK: Peer Mohammed hosh mein aao ab
MS hits PM on his neck making him fall unconscious on the ground then he proceeds to sniff his mouth
BK (in thoughts): Waah kuch der pehle toh hume daant rahe the aur ab khud hi iske mooh lag rahe hain
MS: Ab pata chala humaare boxes kahan gaye
BK: Ji bhaijaan?
MS: Yeh dekho - he shows him some white powder which he found on PM - this is one of the new drugs that was shipped to us. Isko lete hi insaan se jo kaho wohi woh karta hai
BK: Par aisa kaun hai jo PM ko yeh dega
MS: Wohi toh hum jaana chaahte hain-kaun hai aisa jo usko yeh dega
Suddenly four armed guys come in acting strange
MS and BK: Kya hua?
All the guys start singing and dancing to

Ajabde comes out: Warna kya Mehmood Shah peechli baar ki tarah bhaag jaoge maidaan se darker
BK and MS: BaijiLal
Ajabde: Chalo pechaana toh sahi
All the guys had stopped dancing and were seeing the girl facing their boss. She smiled at them
Ajabde: Aap sab kitna accha dance karte ho yaar par thak gaye honge na chalo thoda aaram karo ab
She fires on the ceiling bringing down on them a really old chandelier whose inside had been removed- all the guys stood trapped inside it while MS and BK facepalmed
MS: Kaise gadhe mile hain hume...Baadshah baaki sab ko bulao
Ajabde was ready for them as well -she fired at the entrances where the guys found themselves tackling empty barrels, and boxes while she had planted booby traps earlier which were coming in handy. While this was all going on PM woke up with his head aching like hell
PM: Ya allah yeh sar phaat ja raaha hai mera aur yeh log itna shor machaa rahe hain
BK: Bewakoof uth jaa aur uss ladki ko pakdo
PM sees Ajabde and remembers how she hit him in the back and made him snort some drugs and then everything went blurry
PM: Tum -kya karwaay tumne humse ladki
Ajabde: Maine kahan kuch karwaaya? Tumne hi toh itna mast dance kiya tha
PM looks at his dress and goes all red: Ya allah yeh kya karwaaya tumne humse
Ajabde smiles evilly as she tackled two more of his men
MS got angry and took out his guns and started firing at her. She ducked behind some boxes and took cover as she fired back at him but the men were more than she had anticipated
Ajabde: yahan toh zyaada aadmi aa gaye ab kya karun
MS: Tum bachke nahi jaa sakti BaijiLal aaj tumhaara khel khatam karunga main
He had just taken one step towards her when shots rang out and Ajabde's eyes widened
Ajabde: Tum!!! Tum yahan kya kar rahe ho
Pratap smiled back at her as she fired two more shots taking down two men who were way to close: Arey waah pehle khud hi personal bodyguard banati ho aur phir sawaal bhi karti ho
Before she could say anything he presses two guns in her hands- tumhaari bullets khatam ho gayi hain, yeh lo and use them -backup is on its way
She nodded her head as they both came out of the cover and shot their way towards the boxes kept there. Ajabde and Pratap were both back to back taking down as many men as they could making way towards the boxes. MS and BK weer shouting at the men to start taking boxes but they were late as Ajabde had already reached for the drug boxes and was now combating the goons - her punches and kicks handled them all. One goon was about to attack Pratap from behind but he turned around to see Ajabde hit him directly on his spine
Pratap looked at her while she smiled
Ajabde: Kya ab apne body guard ko protect toh karna padega na
Pratap just smiled when BK took an opportunity and fired straight for Ajabde- she moved back but a second late as the shot went after grazing her shoulder.
Ahhh her pained voice made Pratap mad- he jumped over the obstacles as he went after BK who was still shooting
Ajabde: Pratap!!!!
Pratap was mad -anger was clearly visible as he punced on BK like a tiger pounces on his prey- punches rained on him as Pratap kept hitting him without stopping. Pratap was so angry he didn't care if he hurt himself in the process - BK had managed to take out his pocket knife and stabbed him in the shoulder but Pratap just took it out and continued punching BK.
Ajabde had seen blood ooze out of Pratap's shoulder - Pratap ruko please...she pleaded
As he wnet for another punch he found his hands being held by Ajabde
Ajabde: Bas karo Pratap - marr jaayega
Pratap: Toh marr jaaye-uski himmat kaise hui tumhe hurt karne ki -jo bhi tumhe hurt karega uska namo nishaan main khatam kar dunga
Ajabde stared at him wide eyed when she saw him wince and then remembered his injury. She had a scarf wrapped around her so she took it out and tied it around his injury- as she was tying it she saw him close his eyes so she cradled his face with her other hand (there was a softness in her as she calmed him down) he opened his eyes as he pressed his face in her hand.
Pratap: Ajabde
Ajabde: Pratap
Pratap: Ajabde woh scarf band gaya
Ajabde (breaks out of the trance): Haan...haan ho gaya ...sorry meri wajah se tumhe dard hua
Suddenly they see MS running out and Ajabde rushes after him and Pratap rushed after her. MS took off on a bike kept outside while Ajabde and Pratap came behind him- both of them fired together at the tyres - the bike skidded down the road with MS lying on the road with multiple injuries. He still managed to get up and was about to walk down only to find his path blocked by Surtan Singh
SS: Tumhe laga ki uss chor ko meri beti ke liye bhijwa kar tum bachkar jaa paaoge
MS: Woh saara plan Baadshah ka tha - main toh sirf apna maal lene aaya tha
SS: Maal se tumhaara matlab drugs se jinhe tumne humaare dock par bulaaya
He punched him hard making him fall unconscious on the ground
Ajabde: Waah mereko nahi pata tha ki Surtan chachu itna accha punch maarte hain- tumne unse ho seekha hai napunch maarna
Pratap looked at her as she smiled at him and he responded
Waise ek baat toh tumhe maani hogi
Ajabde: Kya?
Pratap: hum dono ki team mast hai- kaho toh hamesha ke liye mereko partner banalo
Ajabde looked at him wide eyed as he looked into her eyes and then suddenly Ajabde felt a bit dizzy and she fainted in his arms
Pratap: Ajabde (he slapped her lightly) when he recalled her being hurt by the gun shot - blood had been oozing out of it continuously and she hadn't even tied it instead she had wrapped her scarf around him
Pratap: Chachusa
SS: Isko hospital lekar chalet hain- baakis ab bhi aa gaye hain
They took her to the hospital that was run under one of their charities. She had been shifted into a room while Pratap and SS did the formalities. All the family along with Subho rushed to the hospital. They were about to ask for her when an orderly came running out followed by the nurse and then the doctor itself
Dr: Hukum (looks at Sangram) aap jiska ka kahenge uska treatment karenge par uss ladki ka nahi
Sangram: Kyun kya hua hai?
Ajabde: Mujhse dur raho warna sabko unkio naani daadi yaad dila dungi
Subho shook her head: Ajabde
Ajabde saw Pratap and hid behind him: Bodyguard dekho mereko injection laga rahe hain- rook in logon ko
Pratap: Ajabde injection health ke liye
Ajabde: Bura hota hai - mujhe nahi lagwaana injection. Bolo inko ki mereko judo karate sab aata hai
Dr: Tumko injection toh kya koi treat bhi nahi karega- jungli kahin ki
Ajabde: Kya kaha- mujhe jungle bola isne-khair nahi hai tumhaari ab
Pratap held her by the waist while she kicked and screamed profanities at the doctor. Suddenly GD came from behind with a nurse and while Ajabde was screaming profanities she took her hand and nurse administered the injection to her making Ajabde pass out in Pratap's arms
GD: Ho gaya ab isko room mein le jao Pratap. Aur haan (looks at the doctor) I want complete check-up. Yeh koi aisi waisi ladki nahi hai samjhe- iss parivaar ki member hai
Pratap carried Ajabde bridal style back into her room and laid her down. Everyone went back home but Pratap refused- Subho wanted to stay but he sent her back with Chakrapani promising her that if there was any change he would call her
As she slept Pratap stared at her relaxed form he held her hand in his as a gentle smile appeared on his face as he found himself lost in all the memories she had shared with him
Chapter 28
Peer Mohammed had sung like a canary in the jail and all of Mehmood Shah's gang had been taken into police custody. An official case had been filed-all of the drugs had been confiscated and Sangram Singh and Bairam Khan both had dealt with the fallout. TotaMal along with Parvat Das and the rest of the fake family were also in prison waiting for their court hearing.
The next morning saw Pratap trying to feed Ajabde who refused to even look at the hospital food
Pratap: Ajabde medicine leni tumhe chalo khao
Ajabde shook his head: Yeh khaana nahi hai Pratap - mere liye kuch aur lao
Pratap: arey aur kya laun main ab?
Ajabde: Mujhe kya pata - mere personal chef ho toh kuch khaane laayak lao na - yeh daaliya nahi khan mereko
Pratap shook his head when she shook him
Ajabde: Pratap (shakes him) Pratap suno na...suno suno suno na Pratap
Pratap: Kya hai?
Ajabde: Mereko na pizza khaana hai -toh pizza order karo
Pratap: Pizza khaana hai
Ajabde: haan mera bahut mann kar raha - cheesy cheesy pizza khaane ka -yummm
Pratap took out his cell: Tum yahin rehna main prder dekar aata hoon
Ajabde: Okie dokie boss
As soon as he went out she saw a few kids outside in the garden playing while one of them sat all by himself. She stepped out of the bed and walked away. Pratap came back to an empty room - ab kahan chali gayi??? His gaze fell towards the windows were laughter could be heard and he saw her with a water pipe palying with the kids. He rushed outside and saw her making rains via the water in the pipe and everyone enjoying
Ajabde: Pratap (she smiled at him) as he walked towards her she positioned the pipe at him
Ajabde laughed on seeing him all wet- Pratap looked at his drenched form and then walked towards her- Ajabde saw him approach her and she jumped and ran away giggling hiding behind kids while he chased her- he leg stumbled on a stone and she was about to fall but Pratap held her by the waist - eyes met as water fell on them - it was not from the pipe rather the clouds had opened shower on them. As the raindrops fell on them they stood mesmerised by each other- eyes did the talking while no words came out of there mouths
Pratap: Ajabde (he tenderly moved a few strands of her hair from her face)
Ajabde looked down as a blush made its way
Pratap: Andar chalein- pizza aa gaya hoga
Ajabde silently nodded her head but as she tried moving away he pulled her back to him and carried her bridal style back to the room. A little while later Pratap saw the child in her as she devoured the entire pizza by herself
Ajabde: yummy I love pizza (she smiled at him) he just continued to look at her
Pratap took out her medicines and placed them right in front of her
Ajabde: Pratap itne acche mood ko off na karo in medicines ho hatao
Pratap: Sorry medicines khaani hogi -orders hain
Ajabde: Par yeh bahut kadwi hain
Pratap: Main khilaata hoon -bilkul kadwi nahi lagegi
Ajabde: aur agar lagi toh
Pratap: Khao toh pehle - he gives her the medicines and she makes a face as she took them
Ajabde: Kadwi thi
Pratap took out a dairy milk silk from his pocket and gave it to her. She took it like a kid from his hands and then took a bite making mmm sounds - she broke a little as she fed him the piece and went back to finishing the entire thing. Later that afternoon saw Ajabde packing her stuff while everyone else was downstairs laughing and smiling
GD sat on her seat watching her family engrossed in a board game
Chand: Bade tyaaji dekho na cheating kar rahe hain
US: Arey no cheating allowed
Virkam: Cheating kisne ki??? He shows his tongue and Chand looks at US
JB: Bas karo tum dono - Vikram
Virkam: Sorry
And they all laugh.
Karnawati entered Ajabde's room
KW: Jaana zarrori hai kya?
Ajabde: Daadimaa jo mere kaam poora ho gaya hai ab ghar waapis jaana hai. Waise bhi kuch time baad toh aap sab log aaoge hi ghar
KW: Haan par tumhaari aadat pad gayi hai uska kya karun?
Ajabde: Jab bhi meri yaad aaye to call kar lijiyega- main hamesha aapka call receive karungi
KW: Sabko goodbye keh paogi?
Ajabde gulped down a lump that had formed: Mushkil hoga par ho jaayega
KW: Hum aapse neeche milenge
Ajabde nodded her head - she took a deep breath as she gathered her stuff. Memories hit her hard of her arrival-taking over the room and all the fun stuff that had followed. Now the time had come for her to bid adieu
Ajabde: Ek umeed hai ki tum aaoge Pratap - dekhte hain ki tum meri umeed par khaire utarte ho ya nahi
KW went downstairs as she took in the smiling faces of her family but her gaze landed on her grandson who was smiling
Sanga: She's leaving
KW nodded her head
Sanga: Uski yaad aayegi
KW: Zyaada time tak dur nahi rahegi woh- mera Pratap usko waapis lekar aayega dekhlena
Chand's gaze fell on the staircase as she stood up: Aap jaa rahi ho
Ajabde stood all packed up with a bagpack on her shoulders while her suitcase was behind her
Ajabde: It's time Chand- mujhe jaana hoga
Maan: Par kyun?? Thode din aur rukiye na please
Ajabde: Agar possible hota toh zaroor rukti Maan
Vikram hugged her followed by Chand and Shakti, she took blessings of all the elders- GD hugged her tight surprising everyone and then she finally stood in front of Pratap
Ajabde: So tumhaara room ab tumhaara hua
Pratap: Jaana zaroori hai kya? His eyes were pained screaming- main apni baat nahi bol paaya
Ajabde: Haan. Her eyes responded: jaanti hoon par promise tumhe muaka jaldi milega
Pratap: Main drop kar doon?
Ajabde: Subho aa rahi hai -hum dono saath mein jaayenge
Ajabde suddenly remembered: Arey haan- Maan this is for you (hands her an envelope)
Maan: Yeh
Ajabde: London Institue of Arts ka acceptance letter
Maan looked at her surprised at Ajabde
Ajabde: Maine tumhaari kuch drawing unke Dean ko bheji aur who unhe bahut pasand aayi- they want you to study with them Maan. Scholarship bhi offer ki hai tumhe
Maan: Thank you (she hugs her tight)
Ajabde smiled as Subho came
Subho: Chalein?
Ajabde: Hmmm (wears her shades) and turns back one last time to see them all.

Pratap and the others gathered outside as the car drove off from their gates- Ajabde looked back to find Pratap standing there and she wiped away the tears that fell
Subho: You okay?
Ajabde: Bas kuch din ki baat hai phir mulaakat honi hi hai Subho.
Subho smiled: Ghar chalein
Ajabde: Ghar chalo
Ajabde (in thoughts): Kuch din Pratap and jab phir milenge toh I hope tum apni baat keh do warna I promise you itn atang karungi ki yaad rakhoge
