Chapter 12
Kunwar Pratap could not believe his eyes when he saw his teacher Guru Raghvendra at the campsite- the stoic man rarely showed any emotions on his face but Pratap knew him enough to know that his visit was not a light one so he went to him and touched his feet. Pratap knew his teacher's reason for a visit must be his decision to leave Chittor but he never could believe when his teacher told him to proceed for the mountain region on the borders of Mewar
GR: The border of Mewar is a big hilly region which houses many of the indigenous tribes as well as dacoits but the region is the first to witness any attacks or trespassing in the kingdom so I suggest you proceed towards that area Kunwar Pratap
Pratap: Ji Guruji
GR: Kunwar Pratap I want you to meet Hakim Khan he lives in the same hilly area with his people. In order to fight the foreign invaders we will require his help as he has the knowledge of the canons and other modern weaponry which even Akbar wants
Pratap: Hakim Khan the topchi but why would he agree to join us?
GR: He is a man of principles Kunwar Pratap and for him friendship is the biggest relation of all so we need to convince him that we are fighting to protect our motherland from being invaded by the Afghans or the Mughals
Pratap nods his head but knows his Guru had a lot more to say to him
GR: Kunwar Pratap I know you already know my views on leaving Chittor and the Marwar-Mewar alliance but I want to tell you that I'm not disappointed rather I'm glad that you took this step as you made sure to put your duty first which is why Rao Maldev has agreed to a treaty between the two kingdoms which states that in situation of war both the kingdoms will unite to fight against the foreign invaders as one. On the more important note I need to ask your intentions with Rajkumari Ajabde
Pratap's mouth flows open and he mumbles but GR continues
She is a princess of the Rajputana and I know you respect women but do not let her become a fodder for unnecessary gossip. She has already being through a lot and does need unnecessary tensions- all she needs is an atmosphere that will allow her to heal and overcome her past situations and hopefully she can begin a new chapter in her life
Pratap: I promise you that I have only noble and true intentions for Ajabde. I love her and I will keep her safe, happy and hopefully if she agrees then I will marry her as well. Guruji she is the only one who understands me in ways I cannot even express- I have always placed my duty towards the motherland on the top and so does she- she made me agree to the marriage and the Marwar-Mewar alliance by reminding me of my duties even though it was hurting us both she never once complained rather she happily got busy making the arrangements. All I can say is that I intend on spending the rest of my life with her and nobody else
Raghvendra looked at his student who had come a long way and he knew Pratap deserved all the happiness in the world so he decided to accept his decisions and added on a last note I expect the wedding invite at my residence Kunwar Pratap
Chapter 13
Ajabde was in shock she just could not believe all that had happened- Pratap's decision to leave Mewar with Patta and Subho following him she needed to speak to him urgently but before that she needed to eat something the medicine was making her hungrier than usual
Pratap entered her tent on knowing that Ajabde had learnt the truth from Patta and Subhagyawati and he knew she would want to speak to him about it after all that is what they did - take decisions - speak about them well actually fight over them and then act as spoilt brats before making up. As he stood in her tent he gulped as she was glaring at him like she would burn him right there and then on the spot
Ajabde: So you finally found the time to come and meet me
Pratap: Ajab
Ajabde: I didn't ask you to speak now did I? So you thought it was a good idea to not tell me anything like I wouldn't come to know about it. I mean I thought we were friends but no even you think of me as a burdensome princess
Pratap: Ajabde calm down I do not think of you as a burdensome princess rather you are the feisty untamed horse who cannot be tamed ever
Ajabde: Untamed horse? You compared me to a horse of all things and beings
Pratap: I did not meant that way...I meant
Ajabde: What Kunwar Pratap? Tell me what you meant by hiding everything from me? Do you not trust me or is it because I'm a girl that you think I might not be able to understand these things because if that is the case then let me tell you that I may not be aware of every political scenario but I do know how to look at things objectively
Pratap stood silent as he knew if he spoke he would only increase her temper so he let her rant but he had enough of her assumptions
Ajabde: Do you know how much it hurts to know what you think of me as? I may be a girl but I'm quite capable of handling things and...
Before she could continue further Pratap came close to her pushing her back on the bed so much that he was literally on top of her
Pratap: and you were saying?
Ajabde had no clue whatsoever every thought flew out of her brain and all she could focus was on the proximity she was sharing with Pratap he affected her so badly. Pratap gently pulled her up in his embrace and began
I know I hurt you by not telling you everything right away but at that time you were hurt and needed rest. For me your health means a lot more than the decisions I took yes it is true that I left Chittor but it was not a discussion I could have with you while you were recovering (well you still are but) Ajabde I agreed to marry Phool for your sake because you made me remember my responsibility towards Mewar even though you were hurting you did not let anyone know about it rather you yourself made arrangements for it yourself. I do not consider you as a burdensome girl rather for me you are one of the strongest people I know though I do have a problem with you
She looks at him all confused but he goes on Ajabde why did you not tell me about what happened back in Chittor to make you leave?
Ajabde: Nothing happened she mumbled I missed my brother so I thought of going back to Bijolia
Pratap: You are such a terrible liar Ajabde I mean you cannot say a lie so don't even try Subhagyawati told me what took place (She looks at him surprised and then sees the pain in his eyes)
Ajabde: They did not mean it Kunwar Pratap everyone was confused and hurt so they all lashed out really please
Pratap: Why do you defend everybody all the time but not yourself?
Ajabde: I'm not worth it. All I have ever given anyone is pain so if by lashing out at me reduces their pain in any way I'm ready
Pratap gathered her in his arms and held her tight - You are worth fighting for Ajabde Punwar and I intend on doing the same- I will keep on fighting for you till the last drop of my blood is shed and till I breathe my last
She keeps her hand on his mouth: Never say that again... you are not dying because of me
Pratap: No I won't die because of you but I will kill and lay down my life for you
Chapter 14
While Pratap and Ajabde were having their heart to heart conversation there was a group of people who were trying their hardest to spy on them- leading the group was none other than Pandit Chakrapani Mishra who believed that his friend and princess of Bijolia were going to have huge fight over the issue so he decided to spy on them unfortunately he was followed by Subhagyawati who was trying to stop him but failed miserably so she joined him and his friends then there was Patta who wanted to figure out Kunwar Pratap's true intentions he considered Ajabde as his elder sister and wanted to protect her
All of them were trying to keep still around the tent as to be able to hear them out but to no avail
Chakrapani: How softly do they talk? I cannot hear a single thing
Patta: That is because you speak more loudly than them
Subho hides a snicker but Chakrapani continues: well then what do you suggest
Patta: I suggest we all leave now before we are caught red-handed by them (he and Subho move away giving Pratap and Ajabde their privacy)
Chakri stays still Baujiraj might require our help at any moment so we will all stay close at hand- all his friends nod on the other hand both Pratap and Ajabde are still in the same position as we left them but their eyes are concentrated on the shadows being formed
Ajabde: Your friends are spying on us
Pratap: May I add that they are your friends as well and one of them happens to be your brother
Ajabde: Fine let's place a bet on whom we find waiting for us outside
Pratap: What are the stakes?
Ajabde: If you win I will take it really easy and if I win you will agree to my one condition
Pratap: one condition are you sure just one
Ajabde glares at him and he smiles fine
So she takes his hand in order to get up and deliberately pushes the glass of water (empty folks - we believe in water conservation) which falls down making a huge sound that sends Chakri and the other friends running inside the tent
Chakri: Are you alright Baujiraj? Don't worry we are here to help you and Baisa
He stops to look at the two people- Ajabde stood with a huge smile on her face while Pratap was glaring at his friends
Ajabde: You lose Kunwar Pratap now I need to go and think of my one condition while you and your friends can help each other out and with that she moves out of the tent where both Subho and Patta were waiting for her
