Chapter 36
Ajabde a voice whispered distracting the princess of Bijolia who sat in front of her Kanhaji praying for everyone's safety. She knew the voice very well it was of her father Rao Mamrakh but why was she hearing his voice her father was in the battlefield fighting the Afghans with Rana Uday Singh and the others.
There was this feeling that was gnawing her insides something was not right so she got up to see if there was any update from the battlefield. As she walked down the corridors she saw all the daasis carrying medical herbs, water and towels to her mother's room. She ran after them to find her mother lying on the bed unconscious calling out her father as JB rubbed her hair soothing her while her brother was crying in SB's arms who was trying to calm him down. Ajabde knew that something bad had happened which led to the scene in front of her so without anyone know about her presence she backed out only to hear Vaidji talking to the messenger
Messenger: Please come fast Vaidji Raoji has already lost a lot of blood and is unconscious
Vaidji: Where is he?
Messenger: Rawatji brought him to the camp where they have covered the bleeding but he is still unconscious that Baadshah Khan tricked Ranaji and was about to kill him when Raoji stepped in..He fought bravely but BK is a cheat and has no honour...
Ajabde blocked out everything else (tears falling down her cheeks)- her father was injured gravely while her mother fell unconscious here. Her entire family was shattering right in front of her eyes but no she wiped her tears she won't let that happen. She might be no warrior but she believed that her Kanhaji won't hurt her like this; she believed that Eklingji would not make her suffer anymore and she believed that her ancestors would help her in her quest to protect her family
She went back to her room locking it from inside and sat in front of her Kanhaji - I Ajabde Punwar your devotee takes this vow that I won't eat or drink until my family is safe. Kanhaji I have always believed that whatever happens is because you want it to happen so today I ask you to keep my family safe - I want you to bless my father and mother with life because the people here need them, my brother needs them, the Rajputana needs them and even I need them so I will not move from my position until you make my wish come true.
Ajabde's resolution spread like wildfire across the palace and the city. Everyone prayed for the Rajkumari who sat in front of her Kanhaji with her palm over his diya with determination to bring back her family. HansaBai was a strong woman but the news of her husband falling on the battlefield was a huge shock for her especially after the sindoor fiasco in the morning. She wanted to be strong and be there for her children but the news took her off-guard making her fall into the deepest abyss ever known to humans completely cutting her off from reality
Chapter 37
Rao Mamrakh was moving in and out of consciousness - he had no recollection of anything after all he could comprehend was his name be called out and then someone carrying him but he could not see anyone
Daata -he heard it again it was Ajabde! What was she doing here on the battlefield?
Raoji do you need something it was wife this time but what they were doing here they should be back in the palace
Daata his daughter sounded scared but why? She had no need to be scared he would always protect her even though he didn't show it but then she vanished
NO!!! He screamed
Rawatji was trying to keep his friend stay still as the wound was deep and they needed to stop the bleeding. As RM was unconscious he laid him down and as soon as a servant got the cloth he left him to take the cloth - for a mere 10-12 seconds when he heard the scream
RM: NO!!!!
Rawatji rushed back to him trying to get him down and placed the cloth on the wound trying to stop the excessive bleeding but it was not working as RM was trying to free himself all the time mumbling NO and Ajabde
Rawatji: I need you to stay calm my friend I promise you Ajabde is safe and as soon as Ranaji and the others win the battle I will make sure that you meet her but right now I need to you stay calm for me
Maybe RM heard him or maybe exhaustion had hit him full force but RM fell unconscious going into the world of darkness from where only the most determined can return
Everyone on the battlefield was disgusted with Baadshah Khan's tactic including his own men (except Mansoor) but they had no other option except fight whereas the Rajputs were all angry and wanted revenge- Rao Mamrakh ji had taken a huge blow for their King and now was fighting for his life. He was a brave son and a true warrior who fought with honour and pride so now they all geared up with more gusto to exact revenge for hurting their own
Patta was on a spree he destroyed nearly a quarter of the enemy's army after RM was taken away and with the way he was going it looked like he was not going to stop soon
Uday Singh had entered the battlefield again and engaged Baadshah Khan in a duel and was delivering blows after blows to the man who hurt his friend. Uday Singh was enraged at the tactics employed and decided to teach BK a tough lesson
Pratap had defeated the soldiers (Mughals) before he started to fight the chief when RM was injured making his resolve as strong as steel. He would kill them all and there would be no survivors this time- only victory at all costs
Shakti continued fighting Mansoor now with even more energy as he had twice the reason to fight - Mansoor had taken away his adopted family who had taken him during the hard days gave him unconditional love, new relations and now BK had hurt RM who was his would be Bhabisa's father. Shakti rained down offensive attacks on Mansoor who was barely able to deflect them- a cut on the shoulder followed by a slash on the stomach- Mansoor was being thrashed hard making him unable to keep up and then he made the mistake of using his master's tactic making Shakti all the more angry- he took his hand twisted it as the sand fell and slash cut it off from his body making him scream in agony and he repeated the same thing with the other hand as well. Mansoor fell on the ground twitching and rolling in pain calling out for the creator but to no avail- Shakti looked him straight into the eyes and plunged his sword straight into his heart making the man cry out and then fall back with a thud on the ground
