That "touching" incident ... when her tears fell on his hand, it was like a change came over G ... an awareness of something that he couldn't quite understand. Didn't he close his eyes and a pained look come over his face? I don't really think that G would have gone further ... I think he just wanted to frighten her ... and of course, ruin her reputation. Remember in that culture, a girl being alone with a man is morally wrong, whether they do something or not!!! And I don't like to think of G as a person without morals!!! He did say that before R, he never had anything to do with girls (something to that effect) ... I think Gunda or not, he respected women!!! Don't you think even at that time he may have been jealous of Abhigyan and R's relationship? The man may even have been marking his territory so that no other male could trespass!!!

As for R's bhaag, that didn't interest G! It may have worked in some mysterious way to draw them together ... something that they had no control over. Wished that bhaag could have worked for Bhagonwaali the show!!!

It's very hard for me to romanticize that moment. Whenever, I watch that scene all I see is Runjhun's horror and fear. I do believe that he wouldn't have gone any further. He was fully aware of the audience outside the door, and he did know what he was doing to her reputation. Her mere presence in that room had already destroyed her reputation. To be honest, even though it was a pivotal moment in the show, I found his actions here to be truly heinous. He did appear to be touched by her tears and there was a pained expression on his face. Simply not enough to justify his demeaning actions. Had he behaved with even the slightest sense of decorum after the incident, I might have been ok with him. That moment should have heralded the end of the harassment. It didn't end there. He continued by his speech to amma and all those present. Also the next day in a truly disgusting scene, he was instigating his boys to sing and mock Runjhun about his touch. She was already shattered and was in an awful mental and physical state. Guddu simply didn't know when to quit.

It's truly amazing that this man would one day willingly die for Runjhun. For many months I used to think they should rename the show. When a Man Loves a Woman. In all the books I've read and shows I have watched, Guddu Shukla's love for his dharampatni is unprecedented. I have often said that the CV's of this show did not believe in half measures. We were treated to intense cruelty and later on to intense love. So very glad to have witnessed that journey. Oh how I miss this show.!!!!😭

I am a huge flip flopper when it comes to Guddu's feelings for Runjhun prior to marriage. Even though I'm a diehard romantic and a connoisseur of romance novels,😊 it was not easy to arrive to my recent conclusion. I totally understand where Leesan is coming from. Whenever I look at the old episodes, I am enraged and I think there is no way anyone would treat someone with such abject cruelty and still have feelings for her. However, when I take the show as a whole and look at different periods, I can't help thinking it was very possible. Not only was he cruel when Runjhun left him, he was also very cruel after the kiss incident. I hated his behavior during those episodes. At that point, he was clearly in love with her, but his mean streak was very much in evidence.Yes, they did show that he was hurting at the same time, but her pain was palpable and he could have stopped anytime. He chose not to. How I hated those accusations he was constantly hurling at her. I used to shout at the TV, "look at the evidence man, does she look or behave like a back stabber?"😡 I think I have seen enough to safely say that this man does hurt the ones he loves including his Runjhun, his parents and Kukkan. He lashes out at those closest to him when he is hurting.

@vedi ... In the beginning, I think by hurting and humiliating R, G was trying to prove to himself that he didn't care, trying to deny his feelings - a sort of defense mechanism ... he probably couldn't even understand his feelings towards her!!! As for that mean streak, I know he went too far ... OK, I'm making excuses for him, not that I agree with his actions ... but G loved R so much that he would do anything for her ... he couldn't understand how she could say she loved him yet leave him for her M&MS!!! In his mind, if she had really loved him, she would not have left him. He would be her first priority! That hurt he couldn't handle, so he hit out in the only way he knew how ... by hurting her and making her suffer even more than he was hurting!!! You know the saying ... you always hurt the ones you love most ... I do however feel that he always suffered more than her when he hurt her!! All in all, it's not my Guddu's fault!! 😃 When you are hating him for his actions, keep in mind that he had no choice, that's what the CVs dictated!!! I blame the CVs for not knowing when and where to stop!!! So please everybody, don't judge my G too harshly!!! I love this show so much!!! I miss my G&R😭!!!

@ Indi,

I'm so sorry If I'm coming off judging Guddu too harshly. I'm just giving my opinion on his behavior in the earlier episodes. There is no other male character in film, serials or books that I have loved like I do Guddu Shukla. However, I have to call it like it is. He did exhibit hideous behavior in many episodes of BBAT. It's hard for me to condone many of his actions. It doesn't lessen my love and forgiveness of his character. He hated and loved with the same intensity, and that did make for some uncomfortable viewing at times. Please don't take what I write by heart. I don't like the idea that I may be hurting you with my opinions.😭 Its really hard for me to sugarcoat how I feel about G in the early episodes.!!!

@leesan ... I can understand the feeling of horror re the "touching". R was terrified and G showed no mercy!! As for G showing any remorse, the man was a rough Gunda ... no sensitivity or finesse. But as you so rightly said, no half measures from the CVS!!! They went the full extent!! As for G's love, very early in the show when he promised that he would even stop the water in the pipes from flowing to her home, one member on this forum stated "one day boy, you'll be the one to bring the world to her feet" I always remember that ... how I loved it!! Despite all the heartaches, I really enjoyed looking at this show, seeing G&R's love progress! Even though I disliked certain scenes, I always look at the story through the eyes of a romantic ... convinced myself that G loved her from the beginning! Don't think there will ever be another story like this ... we were even lucky to get two actors with such great chemistry!!!

@vedi ... hey girl, no offense taken!!! 😉 I know, I know, G did display distasteful and repulsive behaviour in the early episodes and even in the latter part of the show! But guess what, I so want him to be good, I tell myself it's the CVs' fault! 😆 In some instances though (you know which scenes I mean), I totally hated him ... well, really his behaviour... actually forced myself to view those episodes!!! So you feel free to express your opinion!!! I handle those scenes by trying hard to ignore them! I would however say that he "hurt" (not hated 😃) and "loved" with the same intensity and passion!! Oooh... , but at the end of the day, he did love his dharampatni, didn't he! And we all love him!!!

On another note ... I went browsing again last night and to my horror again saw scenes that seemed to come straight out of BBAT ... in one of them the guy putting bracelets on the girl's hand (G putting the bangles on R's hand in the hospital); another showed the girl pouring the bucket of water over her head still dressed (R pouring the water on herself to wash away G's touch)! So with so many scenes seemingly straight out of BBAT, the show did make an impression, even though not on Zee! Isn't that a great compliment to BBAT!!! Copying these scenes!!!

Hi all! Just missing one day in office takes two to three days to make up. Reading all the posts and here is what I thought.
In the beginning days I do not believe G either loved R or hated R. His first reaction was intrigue and fascination but he did believe she belonged to the same clan as Padeys, deceitful and selfish. He was arrogant and was right as far as snatching of the money from R as they did owe him the money. R was rightfully wary of G and did not particularly like him as he was not the sort any decent girl would get mixed up. They were still tolerant with each other till V&K forced R to lodge a false complaint against G. At that time, to G his pride and name was more important and anybody's feelings. The complaint also made G think that R was more like her mama mamis anyway. That is why all the harsh treatment. One of the most interesting thinks G said on the day R burnt her stuff was he forgave R because she was not his equal to fight. Also nothing made a difference to her as she is stone hearted and emotionless. It was a big shock to him when R came out and showed all the pent up emotions in that surprising manner. He was left speechless while she did all the talking and action. As far as the touching episode goes again it was G reacting before thinking as all he wanted to have immediate retaliation for the humiliation R put through in front of his friends. Again like Leesan, I do believe he had no intention of following through, but just "teach R a lesson". Also mind you he or his friends did not exactly want or try to make it a complete public affair. It was Mitto who gathered the crowd to publicize that R was with G, with the intention that R will not get married with this "dishonor". Both G and R were unaware of all this at that time. So in spite of all the mean things he did to her in the beginning I think it was justified even though exaggerated. But G is never easy or small on reaction to anything.
If fact even after marriage he did not trust her until he knew she helped his parents. Then as he began to show some affection (when he bought the saree), Mitto ruined it again by saying R did all that to help the Pandeys. I think he began to understand a little only after he heard V & K on the night he made the potion for R. After that I do think he softened up a lot until his ego became an issue when he learnt he might have fallen for her more than she cared for him Then again he started being nasty. Again to some extent understandable. It was a very big step for G to swallow his pride and completely against his basic nature when he came and confessed his love to R and accepted defeat. I think that was one of the most touching scenes for me with respect to G's character on how much he actually loved R to do that. Then of course rest is history.
But the real issue which I cannot till today digest is his reaction to R feeding M&M. Whatever be the case, he know and understood R by then, knew that she loved him and still was so harsh. That is far more unforgivable than the initial episodes. That was the beginning of the downhill character degradation G and I am still mad at CVs for that. There is one more this that bothered me. When Babli was seen begging and R argued with G that however cruel M&M had been to her they did not send her to beg. If I were G, I would have retorted, they did even worse by forcing young venerable R to beg from G in the carom club at night which was full of gundas. If G was a real gunda like the Pandeys believed, more harm could be done to R than Babli.
Phew! Said a lot. Hope all this makes sense. In the end I do believe from the beginning, G was intrigued by R in more than one ways, be it her beauty, her silence, her strong will in spite of being physically frail and her tolerance to the evil ones and also most of all her tolerance towards him after he married her by deceit. I was on team Guddu until September when I was forced to be on team Runjhun.
But at least we got a happy ending. There is another show on Zee ending after they killed the main male lead. 😕Yuck! That too with much higher rating than BBAT. So I guess in some sense we were lucky.

Wanted to share this with you - courtesy of BEE 5 posted in April of last year.

BEE, if you around, please comment!! and Thank You!

...I mean ... no one mentioned it in the forum, so I am not sure if you guys noticed it.

Even I saw it like by accident...

I was concentrating more on Guddu's face and had missed it the 1st time I saw todays episode.
When I watched the episode on TV, I noticed it ...
Take a look at Guddu's hair ... I had goosebumps when I realized it ... and then had to rewind and re-watch it ...

Here is the animated version of that part. The color one has bad resolution. So, have uploaded a greyscale one and a smaller size one too...

@Van Didi ... Thank you! Thank you! 👏 Couldn't have pleaded G 's case better! That's my G character!!! You've made him even more charming ... if that's at all possible! Think I fell all over in love with G!!! 😃
I especially agree that G had a lot of pride and a reputation to live up to ... Pride that he put aside when he confessed his love to R! He was indeed a complicated character!!

@pensink91 & jpso1 ... I know you love him too! Hugs for you!! We'll stick with our G!!
