@ Pensink...Thank you so much for sharing that story. I love proposal stories, most of them are so awkward and weird. (well the unsuccessful ones at least.) When I have more time, I'll fill you guys in on my first proposal. I don't think I will ever forget one detail of it, it was so damn strange.πŸ˜† Luckily I truly don't believe that I need a guy to complete me. I'm happy to wait for when or if that ever happens. In the meantime, I'm not willing to just settle. I have someone who is just waiting for me to say yes, can't bring myself to do so at the moment.

@ Leesan, Looks as if you had a lovely unorthodox childhood. How sweet. I so wished that my parents were a little liberal. No such luck. Dad was a lovable tyrant and mom was the very typical indian mom. Very little room to maneuver in but they trusted us implicitly and we were good kids. My childhood was very typical, but teenage years were not. My brother and I shared an apartment during high school and college years. Our parents did not live here, they just visited for business. We spent the summers back home. Our teachers did not know and no one was any wiser. We were both honor students and never got into any trouble. Our parents were thousands of miles away but we lived up to their expectations. They supported us financially and we studied and excelled. I believe so much in the values that are instilled in kids at a very young age. We never thought of rebelling, we could imagine our dad's wrath from all those miles away. I must admit though that I'm not sure I would leave two teens in an apt with their own money these days.

"I'm plenty talk but still a little shy of guys! " same situation here too but my parents are my best friends and my upbringing was not strict. We could talk openly and I had the independence to choose my life partner but I told my parents Iwould rather marry someone they chose as if it does not work it would not be my fault.
Now let me tell you a story of my life. It all happened during a summer project /internship I worked at a company in India and in my group I was the only girl so imagine my situation, initially I was very shy but once I knew people I could talk. Everyone used to ask me about my dream boy and the qualities in him, so this guy what ever i said he set out to achieve all that and to some extent he did aquire most of the qualiites thinking I would say yes if he proposed. I knew this was coming from the way he was set out to be someone that I would prefer, I had already informed my parents that this is coming and i am not interested. And then one day you would not believe the proposal came thru my boss, I directly refused, he was so heartbroken as he had thought she is quiet and shy and would easily accept πŸ˜ƒ.
I have written a lot for today as I did not feel like working but now I better get back to work.
Enjoy!!

Pensink ... sorry, got a bit mixed up there with the allergies. Good to know that you could confide in your parents. That's a very nice excuse though .. letting them choose in case anything goes wrong ... I like itπŸ˜†!! So you did go around breaking hearts ... awww .. you set the poor guy up and then broke his heart!! But how romantic ... you actually moulded the guy into your dream boy! See the type of power girls haveπŸ˜‰?

Later!

No Apology needed as we are friends and you do not need to say sorry for small small things. And yes, my parents were my best freinds especially my dad I could confide in him about anything. He was the best dad ever.

Awww, I am delighted to read all of your posts! So beautiful and pure! I am sure we all have those stories that were never told and it was really good to read them all!! So much for my motorbike one!!😳

Vedi, lovely post!!! I did not have the freedom as Pensink. I was free up to a point but my parents were strict. No such discussions at home! They supported us financially and like most of you, they expected us to excel at school also. They often told us that there was a time in life for everything and that education was our first foundation and after that, we were free to move on. I quietly went along but today looking back, I am happy with life. No regrets so far!!

Indi, I have severe seasonal allergies and certain food allergies, so this is the worst time of the year for me. I have tried everything but nothing works and after a dose of Benadryl over the weekend that left me as a walking zombie, I promise to stay off medication!! Once we get a heavy downpour, I will be better! Thanks for your concerns guys!

Dear Leesan, I must admit that my pride took over where the letter was concerned - because I was not attracted to that person but I felt I did wrong by not reading it since he came specifically to meet me that last day! I hope I am not punished too much for that!! But must admit that I am still trying to get behind that "G" on his motorcycle!😳 So you and Indi, keep up the pace!!!

Vanfan di, hope all is well, always look forward to reading your posts!

Godblessall, Someone asked me if I have moved on since BBAT and my response was NO. BBAT has left its imprints deep in my soul, don't think anyone or any other show can even compare!!

Nikki, please stop by whenever you get a chance.

Big Hugs!!!

Hello and Good Morning everyone! πŸ˜› My work has been really crazy. Sorry I am kind of late in responding but it was very nice to read all the posts. We all seem to have come so much closer post BBAT. Wow! Just amazing to read all posts giving us a little peek into your lives.

@Leesan, loved your home remedy story. Yes, I can relate to that as we have lot of home remedies for common ailments. Not very pleasant to ingest but they do work!πŸ˜†

@jps01, thanks for sharing your motorcycle story. Poor chap must still be nursing his wounds. Hope you have recovered from your allergies.😊

@indi, reading your posts makes me think of how alike we are with quite similar backgrounds in a lot of ways. Is your grandmother still alive? Mine is and she still lives by herself after grandfather passed away but my uncle lives a floor above and he mostly takes care of her. 😊

@pensink, thanks for sharing your story. You go girl! Just because you are shy does not mean you do not have a say in who you want. Best of luck to you. I am sure there is someone wonderful waiting for you. Hope your allergies get better.πŸ˜ƒ

@godblessall, great story! Your friend is very lucky to have you. Very few would have bravely faced parent's wrath for your friend like you did!πŸ‘

@vedi ,nice post. Yes I was glad too that BBAT at least had a far better ending than RMJ. Actually I do not think I will watch Phir subah hogil. I cannot take women exploitation even on TV and that seems to be the central theme. Not my cup of tea. But I do watch HD, AB and PV on Zee. It is amazing how unemotionally and detached I can watch these shows compared to BBAT. I do not like MKKPB never did. 😊

@nikki, enjoyed reading your posts. Do drop in more often.πŸ˜›

Well all of know most about my (un)remarkable life anyway. Only one more thing which I have in common with R is I am very religious, believe in going to the temple a lot and also keep lot of fasts. My husband is not an atheist but does not go to temple and does not pray. Unlike R, even after years, I was never able to make my husband religious and I have to do most of the rituals by myself. But he does not stop me from what I want to do and we have just agreed that that is the way it is going to be. Well here is the latest funny story. I was dropping my husband to work after he gave his car for service and he said, he should let me drive more often as that will make him more religious. I was foolish enough to fall for the trap and ask why? He said I make him remember God so many times when I am driving!πŸ˜†
I will try to come up with some new topic late in the day. In the meantime if anyone has any ideas please suggest the next topic. Come on "G" Company girls ... don't be shy!

Love to all and have a great day!πŸ˜ƒ
BTW my "like" button is not working too well today ...

@pensink ... I also looked at MKKBB - just to see Jabbu and Mahadevi ... they both looked good in their roles. Surprisingly I enjoyed seeing them - guess it was because of their link to BBAT!!! I also looked at the new serial ... Mahadevi was also in it but I don't know if it was just a cameo role. She played a school girl.

We have now seen four of BBAT's actors (Kukkan in RMJ) but no sign of Himmanshoo and Nivedita!!! Wonder what's up with these two? With so many new shows being launched by ZEE, you would think they would give them something!!! I really do miss my G&R!!!

While I haven't been following any serial, I have been watching some of them from time to time. What I have noticed in quite a few of them is that Zee seems to be bringing to the public's attention in a subtle way, issues faced by women and "less fortunate" people. In HD, the sister was raped and she actually went to court despite the slurs and insults from the public. I think this was a message for us women. In the new show, Phir ... .. ., we saw the role that the bedini women play ... I don't know if this tradition is still followed, but even though it was very upsetting to look at, ZEE portrayed the strength of a young bedini woman who was unwilling to continue the tradition ... In another - AB - we see a young girl (dark too - as her relatives keep referring to her) from a poor family who strived to educate herself and rise from her poverty to become a successful person. In PV, we see there's hope for a widowed/divorced woman to have a life after her husband's death or divorce.

I must commend ZEE for highlighting such issues in their shows. I think under all the foolishness in some of the shows, there's a message of encouragement for women ... we could be brave; we are capable of changing our status despite all the negativity and opposition that may surround us. In their own way, Zee seem to be campaigning for change from these old customs and traditions - especially where it pertains to women.

Despite their commendable actions though, I will never forgive ZEE for ending my beloved Bhagonwali😭!!!!

Indi, I thought so too that all these are getting roles but not G&R, but these were supporting actors and getting supporting roles it not that difficult but main leads they themselves would not want to accept such roles plus they have set such a high bar in acting that
to offer such roles too may be below their standard.
I am still hoping soon they both get a nice lead role in a great serial. I am not watching any serial as I used to BBAT but just here and there as I am tired of conspiracies and people trying to separate couples and you mentioned PV. Agree they showed in PV that a divorcee and Widow could get a new life with remarriage but the differences in relations and treatment I dont approve of that. the expectations there are they want a quiet and obedient bahu who should be obligated to them whereas it was them who took the proposal and she is expected to ignore her child ina new home. Not even her step daughters are respecting her and no one is telling them anything.
Sorry did not mean to vent my frustration about PV here.
Lets hope the best for our H&N/G&R.

Regarding PV on the whole, I really don't like it, especially that same old saas bahu story line, never mind the children's behaviour ... I feel like giving them a hard slap! As for the male lead, I call him a "dead fish"! Could never compare with my beloved Guddu Shukla!!! The leads seem to be totally dumb!! That's why I said under all the "foolishness" πŸ˜† in the serials ... ... ...

I still cannot find a show to hold my interest! All the serials seem to bore me after a short while; as for the actors ... I can't find that chemistry of G&R!! I so enjoyed any encounter between G&R, even just a small exchange of glances ... it was so magical!!!! (Sigh!!!)
