Please do think of something, so we can all mull it over and come up with some interesting perspectives/responses...as usual!! So my dear Van, or any of you lovely ladies, we need a light cheerful topic ...any ideas?? Don't be shy now!!πŸ˜‰πŸ˜Š!!!

@indi I will try and not respond to you. Please do not think I am ignoring you. Trying to change the topic here. Ok. Here is one idea. Bhagonwali was very rich in showing the culture and rituals. Most of them I am very familiar with but some of them actually did not make sense to me. To some extent I found it funny. Anyone remembers anything nice or odd about things seen on BBAT? (A request. Do NOT mention any rituals from "N's wedding." 😑I did not even bother watching those episodes.) I would like to mention two in particular:
1. After G confesses his love and they do the puja next day before the laddu feeding scene, Amma is seen giving certain stuff to R to save it in her cupboard forever. We have that kind of ritual too where certain things are kept away for good luck. But it is non perishable stuff like black beads, dry turmeric piece, small metal pot, sometimes a small amount of flower petals which dries with time and does not rot etc but I was taken aback when R rolled fresh fruits in that bundle. 😲It will rot inside the cupboard and how long can you keep that and what happens after that? Anyone aware of keeping fruits in the cupboard?
2. Another funny thing I noticed was when G & R enter LN after G purchase it and renames it, they break and coconut which is a very common ritual but G took the coconut and threw it behind his back without looking. I was taken aback. It would be funny πŸ˜†(or not so funnyπŸ˜•) if it hit someone on the head while walking on the street? I have seen coconuts being broken from front after asking people to move away and I have seen light stuff like rice or puffed rice being thrown on the back without looking but never seen a coconut being thrown that way. Does anyone else know this ritual?
Most of the others I saw were common or did not cause me to raise a brow. Does anyone have anything they saw which was strange or funny?πŸ˜›

@indi...LOL!!! You just HAD to get in that extra little pro G post in there.didn't you??!! Talk about the last word!!! Ok, I won't take the bait...nuff said!!!πŸ˜‰πŸ˜Š!!!

Now missy, it's your turn!!! What next?? Think of a nice, sweet, cheerful topic for us all to discuss...no more G vs R, ok?? Have to run,but will check in later!!!

@pensink91...missing your contributions, missing you too!!! How are you?

Ok...I see that Van has come up with something very different and interesting!!! Will not be of ANY help with the discussion of rituals, but will think of something funny or unusual that I observed. Thanks, Van!!!

@van didi ... (LOL!) saw the request for change of topic after I posted... was typing my post in between other work so took a long time!!

I remember that scene with the fresh fruits ... thought it was a weird custom and did remark about it. I thought maybe it was one that I didn't know about!!! Could it be a custom of Kannauj πŸ˜†??? I have never seen that one before ... know about the flower petals, etc. and keeping a piece of wedding cake, which is refrigerated. But then we know how the CVs created their own customs in Bhagonwali ... talk about unique! That's our Bhagonwali!!! As for G throwing the coconut over his shoulders, maybe he wanted to break somebody's head ... or maybe start his own custom!!

Vanfan, I had the same thought when I saw those episodes, especially the ones where after Vat Savitri puja she keeps a banana and other fruits for good luck. Agreed that would rot and I have never heard of such things. We would keep the gauri ganesh they made which they would use whole betel nut but never fruits. Same with the thowing of coconut behind without looking which should have been shown as throwing in diferent directions to ward of any evil.
but those were more strange than funny

Hi Guys,

Out of lurkdom to comment on one funny ritualistic moment. Who could possible forget Amma putting gobar(cow dung) all around mahadevi's bed on the eclipse day episode. That was hilarious in itself but when she was told to sit properly I couldn't stop laughing. This show had many many fun moments. Off again...cooking...bane of my existence...catch you all later. Much love.❀️

Hi girls ... just a quick check in ... rushing today.

pensink91 ... nice to hear from you ... I know you are still very distressed over our beloved Bhagonwali ... do you know, from your posts straight after BBAT ended, I pictured you like a sad Victorian maiden 😭 ... hey, I'm not making fun of you here!!! I was in the same state ... still am .. except that I get my solace here on this forumπŸ˜ƒ. So keep posting, you'll feel a bit better.

vedi ... that gobar scene did make me laugh πŸ˜† ... there are so many superstitious beliefs connected to pregnant women and eclipse that I actually believed that was one ... now I wonder!!

van didi, jps01, leesan, godblessall ... you have a wonderful day!!

Love you!

Indi, I agree I was sad and still miss our beloved show and especially Guddu Shukla. But you know I find solace in reading everyone's posts and do post something once ina while. Actually I have really really busy at work and so I post when I can. As far as making fun of me, I dont mind at all, I have said it before and will reiterate that you all are my forum friends and you have the right to comment on my state and me anytime.😊
I cant think of any funny rituals but can think of coule of parts, one where Guddu gets that person from Ram Lila and then explains all that he was saying to Runjhun and she believing it too. Incase you dont remember this was when baba has told her she had dosh in her Kundli.
then the Episode where MD adds salt to the Halwa and Guddu's monologue was funny when he says that my wife forgot the difference between sugar and salt and swallows the halwa.
love you all my dearest Forum friends and a big hug to you all πŸ€—
And Indi here is my big smile to show I do miss BBAT but not so distressed πŸ˜ƒ

Hi all, at home sick today and have not been able to post anything as my eyes are constantly watering. I will try to write something in the evening. Pensink, yes it was a hilarious episode with the fake sadhu and Guddu. I have not watched any other series which made me laugh as much as BBAT in spite of all the pain. I will talk more about that episode later. Take care all.
