Honestly, no, he wasn't in love with Maya since years. At end of the season 2, he had made it clear that he is with her only for the Bandar. That's what he even told Dusky at the shanti spot. He knows Maya would even harm bandar if he revealed the truth. That's the reason he refrained from telling Vandana about cause accident of Ayaan. So technically, he wasn't in love with her at the end of season 2.
😆 But he is still the most irritating character. And the reason he was with her, was hope she would change and free him if continued "loving" her and bandar, but after knowing Samay's role in Maya's life, he apparently realized this woman can never be trusted, for what she has been doing before he came into her life.
Right before the second leap, he left Maya alone and walked hands in hands with Saanjh, that just proved that he was over her and post leap was all his support for Maya only because of Baby!
Post 1st leap Arjun was just a dog, who was totally under her control, he was suffocated and frustrated. He didn't love her, but his hate wasn't Beyhadh. He knew Maya was psycho and felt, people should just live by her and not instigate her.
S1 as many people claim, he was more over attracted to Maya for her luxuries and power. What I feel at this point is CVs are trying to show, he was in love with Saanjh since season 1,but Maya made sure he doesn't realize it and "trapped" him to believe he was in love with her and marry her in a go, before anyone else comes in between. All that happened later, was just a way out for Maya to keep things in her control, which screwed up everything. He didn't even realize his responsibility as husband and how his role has changed towarde other relationship, including with Saanjh. But that's like he wasn't really ready to take up relationship
Saanjh is second dumbest character, but for change I am glad she didn't run into, I love you too kind of scene, but am sure its coming in with Arjun's kidnapping drama. This woman should have left his side after Ayaan's case and chalo atleast Prem's death when he came and told her, his wife needs him. And actually focus on proving Ayaan innocent rather than mission Save Arjun from Ayaan. Grrr...
All characters are highly flawed. But I definitely had better hope from Saanjh to be strong and powerful to compete Maya. But naa, CVs failed it bad time...
So after all that, CVs aren't trying to show he fell in love suddenly, but that he realized his love soo late after going through so much...
