I would have wholeheartedly accepted it if Maya were a full blown psycho like Joe from You. ( I low key expected the flashback to reveal that Maya is the real psycho who was the master manipulator and MJ is just a creep who got played but Maya being the psycho she believes she is a noble person and became the victim. I know that would compromise Mayra but I am a sucker for pitch dark themes and they claimed to be that. Also psychopaths have hotter love stories.)
But here Rishi's death seemed so random. I still don't understand where or how it fits. It's like the square piece to be fit inside a circular hole. It's only there to create a separation between Mayra later and doesn't make any sense.
Or just donāt justify it... like you said, if she had gone down the route of, āI hate MJ, his family and anything that is associated with himā and had killed him off without feeling any remorse and instead felt triumphant, it would have made for a killer (pun intended) twist.
Maya having that breakdown and then oscillating between āhe deserved it because of his fatherā and āI regret itā makes me want to shake her.
I like to call his death absolutely mindless... served absolutely no purpose.

what is anu's problem exactly? yes rudra ditched her but what is she crying about now? He LOVES maya, so obviously she will always take priority in his life but that does not mean ananya is not important.
Rudra was never close to anyone other than ananya. so more than not being his love, she is upset that there is someone more important then her. it is like when kids become jealous when a younger sibling comes along.

At the first I was ok with her justifying it coz I expected her to be a narcissistic psychopath with a twisted savior complex like Joe. Like he always justifies his murders and thinks he's doing it for love and sleeps like a baby at night with no regret or remorse. But even though he justifies it, the makers don't and the viewers get the right msg about what it actually is.
I thought Maya were like that. So I enjoyed her justifications expecting it to get more twisted with time and viewers realising that her justifications are just delusions of a psychotic mind.
I still believe that even her love for Rudy rises from her fairy tales obsessed, deluded brain.
Ita: exactly !!!! Give me some consistency dammit !!!! There are two characters in this show I don't even understand a little bit ---- one is Maya and 2nd is Amir.
I mean ek lamp post hi chahiye tha toh why did they take Hassan. So he must have some story of his own. Or else it's a total waste !!!
And Maya-----I don't get her character arc At All !!!!!
Red: agreed. I have only 2 words for Rishi's death---random and misfit.
