Yes I agree it's difficult for women to be independent. And most women are under the thumbs of their husbands/fathers.
However in this case, Antara is not only lacking in independence, she's also lacking in a fighting spirit. Though I am willing to admit that over 30 years her spirits could have been crushed. I am only saying she isn't subdued by MJ only coz he's a woman, but because she's a weak woman who is allowing herself to be subjected to this.
See, Maya is playing with Rishi and Rudra both. Rishi's rendered defenceless and Rudra has Ananya for support. Agreed. But even then, Rishi's spirit and grit are wayyyyy lower than Rudra and that makes it easier for Maya to dominate him. However, Rudra might be at the losing end too, but his fighting spirit isn't dead. He's a mighty loser as well. Independence, victory, loss, success, failure are all external to one's inner strength and spirit. A strong person can deal with adversity better than a weaker person. Though one's strength can be gradually diminished with continuous suppression of thought and action, one's spirit cannot be moulded into one of submission and mute acceptance until that person does not have qualities that are more suited for the same. I am NOT blaming Antara. She isn't wrong at all. But, had there been a man in place of her, MJ Would have done the same. I am simply saying his suppression of her is not coz of her gender but because of innateness. I didn't compare them either, just gave an example of two people who are dominated MJ.
Yes that is true that a strong willed person takes a lot of time to break. Maya moderates her behavior basis who she up against- with Rishi she manipulates him with fake love, with Rudra she is more vulnerable and rational, with MJ she is obviously playing a game of chess.
And yes I am not saying you were comparing. I just feel I understand Antaras situation. I want to see her in flashback to deduce that she is a weak willed person or she did have killed herself by now imo. Look at the people around her- her husband uses/emotionally abuses her, her MIL can't care less if she is dead or alive, her sons are having their own issues and the one friend she has, is conniving with her husband and even drugging her. Like Diya said, this society expects a woman to portray her role as a dutiful wife, pliant and devoted. But she is truly caged. Or even chosen to cage herself.
I really wanna see if her soul is as corrupted as MJ by now, basis what she did with Maya.
Btw is anyone wondering why Maya didn't process that moment in office, her reaction to MJ? How scared she got and needed Rudra to comfort her? 🤔
what did you all think of Rudra's outburst?
There are several things here;
1. Rudra knows MJ inside out, he knows his father wants to clip his wings by getting to the investor. Maya is rudra's chance to leave his father behind once and for all.
2. on that same regard, Rudra is aware that MJ is a vortex, he sucks the life out of everything. Somewhere deep inside, he feels protective of maya. Because he saw her at her most vulnerable, he sees himself in her.
3. Rudra's feelings are undefined for now, and he has not stopped to think about the sudden change. However it is not love, he wants to shield maya from MJ's claws, not realizing that that he already destroyed her in the past.

Yes, that's one of his concerns and he knows he has to protect Maya, the investor from MJ.

I think this portion is more rooted in his past. He knows his fathers behavior around women and how he wouldn't stop for anything to get what he wants.

He finds her fascinating. He feels he understands her eccentricities and wants to help/support her. But he doesn't realize Maya isn't JUST that broken girl. She has an ulterior motive which enlivens her. I find it funny that Maya doesn't realize she already has become Rudras zaroorat. She is still planning to trap him while he is already enamored by her. Her vulnerability.

Both her and Rudra need to process what happened. Maya of the the moment in the office and rudra, of what she said in the elevator. It was turning point for both of them and I hope CV's dedicate some time to it.

It's like they have both blocked the moment which I understand. But wonder why not thinking of the part where they needed each other.
Agree. Rudra sees maya as a girl who is vulnerable, who needs protection but she is something else entirely.
I read another post ( I think it was shruthiravi) that mentions that Rudra's love will guide and honestly, I hope she does not go over the edge this season.
