"Doctor doctor! Pls mere papa ko baccha lijiye. Woh bahaut acche hai. Pls doctor, baccha lijiye na mere papa ko." Cried a 12 year old girl as she comes running to me.
"Oh sweety, hum baccha lenge aapke papa ko bilkul chinta mt kro aap. Aap Dr. Riddhima ke saath jao, she'll get u changed n dressed." Aaliya comes and stands beside me.
"Aaliya.. ye.. what hppnd?"
"Zubair Ahmed, 45 yrs old, two kids and a wife. Drink and drive ka case hai. Abhi ke abhi OT mei shift krna hga."
"And d other kid?"
"He.. he cudnt survive. The kid had had his last breath before we got them here. We um.." Oh god, she s gnna cry.
"Hey.. Aaliya.. dnt cry baby." I pull her to my arms.
"Zain release me. Koi dekh lega."
"Come on, let's go."
Post Operation
Zain's POV
"Time of death 16:39." Doctors. Doctors have to be the most heartless persons. Zubair Ahmed was announced dead. His girl, Zara, I learned her name, was crying buckets.
"Dr. Zain, I'd like u to call his wife."
"Call her?"
"Yeah, she is nt yet informed abt the demise."
"Dr. Kirti, ma'am, I am nt sure I'll b able to."
"Dr. zain, this is nt abt what u'll b able to do and what not. I repeat myself, call Mrs. Ahmed and tell her. Or shud I request Dr. Aaliya to call?"
No. Good god, no.
Aaliya is much more fragile than me right now.
She cannot see anyone hurt.. and death..
Nah! I can't let her call. She'll nt b able to console.
"No Ma'am, I'll call. The number?"
"It's at the desk."
Children's ward
Aaliya's POV
It wasn't as if I thought Zain wasn't fragile in this state. The hurt look, I can forever recognize it. But, certainly, I cannot face him. Not now!
My cell beeps.

Zain's POV
I knew she won't come. She will think she'll make me more sad when she gives me that look! Nah, I knew it.
"Zain?" A broken voice calls me out.
Aaliya.
"Oh dear." God she's crying! I pull her to my arms hiding her in my embrace. Oh, her tears are the most huge pain in my heart.
"Zain I am sorry."
"For what?"
"I can't afford to lose you. Don't ever leave me."
"No baby, I won't, I promise. Is that what is upsetting u? I won't leave u ever Aaliya. You r d only reason for my existence. Bt u need to promise me something too."
"What is it?"
"You'll dance with me only at the dance!"
Ahh, finally she smiles.
"Wouldn't u ask me?"
"I will." I go on one knee. "Dr. Aaliya Haider, wouls you do me the honour of a dance?"
"I'd love to." She slips her hand into mine. I take out my cell and open the music app, playing a slow song I put it down.
"I love you."
"I love you, too."
"I love you more." I swirl her into me. A small dip and then pull her into my arms. Reaching for her hands, I take hold of them and pull them up. I breathe her toxic scent.
"Dr. Aaliya, pls Children's Ward me report kre." The loud speaker calls out loudly. Perfect timing!
"Aah, my call. Sorry baby, later."
"Aaliya!"
"Sorry!" She runs off.
