Hello Everyone
This is the time for our DOTW that is the Discussion of the week.............

What do you think about the cultural inter-clash for our culture....Is it helpful?Or is it destroying our own culture?Do you think that our culture is losing it's own identity because of the continous free mixing with the Hindi and western culture.....Share your thoughts about our very own culture.........

OMG

Thats a very good question ....

i think we are loosing out culture. mostly because the ppl in bangladesh just want to be western thinking its cool and the ppl outside of bangladesh just get draged into it... but this mostly goes for all the youngsters and Old ppl are smart enough to choose the right path....

thanks ratree

Umm... I guess to answer that we firstly need to define our culture

I mean sometimes it is hard to differ a bangladeshi tradition with indian . I guess nowadays everyone follows a globalised culture or something. Ami seriously janina what makes our traditions and culture unique and that's because it is not promoted so much.

It is true that many people in BD act fake or try to act like western people just coz they think it is cool but I don't blame them . If we aren't taught what our culture really is then we shouldn't expect anyone to remember it.

It is not just the Bangladeshi culture , even others like Arab n Indian cultures are losing their significance as everyone is moving towards a more global approach of leading a life..

its true that Bangladeshi & Indian culture is somewhat similar. but again all cultures of a certain egion is always similar. Bangladesh, India & Pakistan was 1 country in the past. so there it is kinda obvious that these three countries' culture is somewhat similar.

in past Bangla was 1 province including both Bangladesh & West Bengal. so here comes Indian culture. After that Bangladesh was ruled by Pakistan & also is a Muslim country. so here comes mix from Pakistani culture. British ruled us for 200 years. so we have their culture in ours also.

But in spite of all these Bangladesh has its own culture. if u watch an Indian Bangla movie/serial & a Bangladeshi movie/serial, u will deffinitely able to differ between them. if u eat/see an Indean dish & a Bangladeshi dish u would find a difference.

i have no objection in globalization. every1 needs to be familiar with different culture. but is it good to forget what is our own?

I agree with u people that in parts of Dhaka BD teenagers are more western than we r in here. last day my Bangladeshi friend was telling me that she will take western dresses this time in her visit to BD. because last time she took Salwar Kamiz with her but all her cousins were wearing western dress!!!!

look at other nations living in multicultural countries like USA, Canada. are they forgetting their culture?? no.

i have no objection in free mixing with Hindi or Western culture. but parents need to be more careful about this issue. no matter how much english u talk, no matter what western brand cloth u were, u will always be Bangladeshi.

Micheal Modhushudan Datta was attracted to Western culture. he wanted to be part of Western culture. but in the long run he had to return there from where he started. to Bangladesh, to Bangladeshi culture. to his OWN culture.

PS: no offence to other cultures. every nation should respect its own culture along with others
