Smita Bansal of 'Balika Vadhu' fame, who was in her hometown Jaipur recently, along with co-actor Siddharth Shukla for a private function, was apparently denied entry to a city pub. The reason? The fact that she was in a sari.According to an eyewitness, Smita was accompanied by Siddharth and other friends. But she was stopped at the entrance of Club Naila, which is quite close to her parents' house. The eyewitness also says Smita was spoken to rudely by the bouncers present there.

"The drama started after 10 minutes when one of the bouncers walked up to her and rudely asked Smita and her friend, who too was in a sari, to leave the venue. When Smita asked him the reason, one of the bouncers gave her a mouthful, saying, 'Sari pahenkar kyon aayi hai, chal side me khadi ho ja'.While Smita was shocked into silence, Siddharth took up the matter with the owner Trivikram Singh, and the two exchanged heated words, and things turned ugly."

Another eyewitness told us Smita was overheard saying, "There is no mention of any rules regarding the dress code. They should have told me while we were entering. How can someone insult a lady for wearing a sari?"

While both Smita and Siddharth were unavailable for comment, when we called Trivikram, he told us, "I will not deny there was a small altercation. Actually, our club entry rules are quite strict, and the bouncer did not recognise the stars. Unfortunately, I was not there at that moment, or this situation wouldn't have arisen. When I was called, tempers were already flying, and we did exchange some words, but I soon sorted it all, and Siddharth even had a drink post that. And no, I don't think the actress wearing a sari was an issue - it's just that there was a slight recognition issue. And in keeping with our club rules, the bouncer has every right to check every person entering the venue."

Aditi TFS.
---------------------------
These people don't realise how stupid they seem when they decide on dress code.
Pubs may not be part of our culture but when they start pubs in our country they should have a dress code which is compatible with our style of dressing too.

It is ridiculous on their part to decide that saris shouldn't be part of the dress code.

What the hell!? This is ridiculous. 😲

I find it ironic that something like this is happening in India when I am pretty sure no-one would ever deny someone entry to a club in the West for wearing a sari or salwar kameez or anything. The people of India need to be proud of their beautiful culture, not suppress or ridicule it in the bid for westernisation...
