They say big surprises come in small packages and Avika Gor of Balika Vadhu has proved it. The small wonder, who is still schooling, is playing the lead in a daily soap on Colors and the popularity of the show and the little bahu is growing by the day.
Avika, who plays the role of a young daughter-in-law married in a conservative family, has managed to carve a niche for herself in this competitive world of television. "At my age, acting was just out of question," she shrugs. The 9-year-old says that a chance meeting with the producers changed her life overnight. Today, Avika is the youngest bahu on Indian TV and the most popular actress. The contenders running with Avika are the likes of Saakshi Tanwar and Smriti Irani. Did she ever think that she could ever give the big wigs of TV a run for their money? "I don't know," she twitches. "I feel that people who have worked hard, do achieve success. I think all the actresses you mentioned have been working hard and that's why they are successful."
Gor says that if she continues to be as hard working and popular she can become big. "But I'm still very small. I have my shootings, school and studies to take care of. Give me some time," she smiles. The little Avika is yet getting used to the stares and whispers she gets from people around. These are the perks of fame and popularity baby. Get used to it.
