Dwelling on the Details

[Episode 241] January 16th, 2017

- "Shogu Didi -" "Shut up! Don't you dare talk to Shogata - oww!" Neha nailing the expressions and accent as usual! She's way, way too cute! How can anyone not love her?

- Ram just strolls into the lab, calling out to Shaan. "Papa, aapne mujhe bulaaya?" Casual as can be. Ram is so sweet! Shaan does not share that opinion, though. He doesn't want to be called "Papa" in private. In front of the family, it's fine. In private, it's not necessary. Ram listens to Shaan and then repeats, louder, "PAPA, aapne mujhe bulaaya?" Hah, this kid! I quite like the fact that Ram has taken to calling Shaan "Papa" instead of "CPU" all the time. But Shaan is not amused. "Nahi sudhrega na, tu?" Pat comes the reply. "Nahi." Shaan finally gives in. "Haan, bulaaya."

- "Meri dharampatni aur teri maa - MOBO - ajeeb sa behave kar rahi hai." That gets Ram thinking. Vision problem...again? Bless this kid, seriously. He's so devoted to his MOBO and he is inadvertently bringing out Shaan's protective, proactive creator/husband qualities again as well! It's also nice to hear Ram's anecdotes about his life with Dev and Rajni. I'm assuming that the last time Rajni fell and got the equivalent of a concussion, Dev and Ram were the ones who fixed her up together. It sounds painful. But wait, Rajni is made of metal...so she can't feel pain. Thankfully!

- "Ouch! Ouch!" Shogata comes stumbling into her mom's bedroom - and even her exclamations of pain sound like music to my ears! Oh, Mom! Oh! Rajni ne...Shogata ki...catwalk ko...ratwalk bana diya!" "Baithke baat karo, beta." "Baithiii toh thi...jab Rajni ne Shogata ki legs ka minced meat bana diyaaa!" Catwalk...ratwalk...Her expressions and body language during this lament! I'm dying here! Shoguuu! Why so cute?!

- Rajni is back. And she has brought home a pineapple for Surili as an apology gift. Except it's not a pineapple. It's a freaking beehive! Oh god!

- "Mrs. Chatterjee! Uh, Banerjee!" This play on those all-too-common Bengali surnames is hilarious, especially since Surili's maiden name was Chattopadhyay, which would also be Chatterjee! As a Bengali, I am very amused! Aah, and I love that Shogu is the one to correct her mother in an undertone through gritted teeth. "Mukherjee, Mom!" "Thank you! Mukherjee!"

[Episode 242] January 17th, 2017

- "RAJNI! Rajni, ruk jaao! " "MOBO, ruko! Wahin pe ruko!" "Hello, Shaan." "Arrey, Raj- Yaar, neeche utro!" "OK!" Rajni moves forward, poised to step off the terrace. Shaan is already freaking out and this sends him into full-blown panic mode. "Nahi nahi nahi nahi nahi! Terrace se neeche utro! Matlab peeche jaao, peeche jaao! Arrey, aage pair rakhogi, toh neeche girogi! Rajni, go back! Go back!" Oh, I love this! Shaan is not just pareshaan anymore, he is also panicked, protective Shaan!

- "Rajani! Kya soch kar tumne Mrs. Chatterjee ko -" Maggie cuts in, "Nahi, Mummyji. Mrs. Banerjee!" Even Sharmila is confused about this. Amazing. From the sidelines, Shogu amends, "Mom, Mukherjee!" LOL, this is the SAME order as last time! Surili looks at her daughter, asking in an undertone, "Final hai?" Shogu replies with a look that says, "Yes, of course it's final! Shogata is telling you!" She has a sharp memory, that is very, very clear!

- Surili's "Shut up, Maggie! Shut up, Sharmila!" mix-up elicits a facepalm from Shogu and confused reactions from the bahus in question. In the middle of all this, Ram asks Shaan to do something, anything, to save Rajni. It's worth noting that Ram calls Shaan "Papa" and he receives a normal reply. Progress!

- Amrish arrives to speak up on behalf of his bahus. "Aapki himmat kaise hui meri bahuon ke baare mein anaab-shanaab bolan di?!" Mrs. Mukherjee is so rude and this is a fitting reply from Amrish. I expected no less from him. What I didn't expect was to see Shogu looking offended at the insults to her sisters-in-law and nodding her head in dignified agreement at her father's outburst. The girl has a heart. I keep saying this, and she keeps proving it in these little ways!

- If Shogu is on one side of the room providing a silent running commentary with only her expressions, then Ram and Shaan are on the other side, literally commentating from the sidelines. "Papa...Yeh toh gadbad ho gayi." "Isse gadbad nahi kehte, isse bawaal kehte hai, bawaal." Shaan's favorite word. Bawaal. Shaan shakes his head, "Aur yahan iss ghar mein, sab ka confidence Himalaya se bhi ooncha hai." Ram's skeptical eyebrow raise after Shaan says this - and Shaan's wryly amused head shake at his mother's melodramatics - this baap-beta duo is so great!

- Shaan is in a perpetual state of being pareshaan now, and Rajni's malfunctions are not helping. "Har baat ka jawaab hai, na, tumhare paas?" "Well, almost." True that, haha. Shaan grimaces. "Kuch nahi hoga tumhara, Rajni. Aise hi raho tum!" Ram frowns, slightly dejected. It's interesting that he's not all up in arms about what Shaan has just said to Rajni. Before, he would've thrown a tantrum or pleaded with Shaan to get Rajni fixed. But now, it's like Ram knows that Shaan is willing to fix Rajni...but his MOBO has made a bit of a mess and his CPU doesn't even have spare lenses to use anyway.

- "Uh-oh! Mera kuch nahi ho sakta?" Shaan rolls his eyes. "That means main aise hi rahoongi? Mujhe kuch nazar nahi aayega? Main Mummyji ko competition jeetne mein kaise madad kar paaoongi?" This is Rajni's version of a dramatic lament. Granted, it's very cute, but neither Shaan nor Ram is in the frame of mind to smile right now. Shaan shakes his head irritably. "Papa bhi, na! Jo kasar baaki thi, woh inhone poori kar di hai!" Ram is concerned, too. "Papa. Meri MOBO ke liye nahi, lekin aapki MOBO ke - mere kehne ka matlab hai, aapki mummy ke liye meri MOBO ko theek kardo na!" Ram is thinking about his Daadi's reputation, bless!

- "Lens hote, toh main laga deta isse!" "Yaad kijiye. Ek zamaana tha jab aap genius hua karte the, genius!" Awww, Ram! I love this kid so much! And he reminds me of both Shaan AND Dev here! "Genius tha - jaadugar nahi!" Sassmaster Shaan is the best Shaan. I love Pareshaan, of course, but Sassmaster Shaan is too much fun, especially when he's poker-faced and 100% done with all of the problems in his life.

- Oooh, robot repairs! One of the most wonderful things to come out of the 5-year leap has been the fact that Shaan, Dev, and Ram all know about Rajni being a robot. With Ram aware of his MOBO's true nature, there has been a lot more freedom to show Rajni's robotic antics not only in dramatic situations, but also in mundane situations. As a child who has grown up seeing his Dev Mamu repairing his MOBO's glitches, Ram is used to all of this. To a certain extent, he understands what's going on, and he tries to help as much as he can. That is the basis of his rapport with Shaan - and how beautiful is it that this child has brought out the scientist in Shaan again? *sigh* It is so heartwarming!

[Episode 243] January 18th, 2017

- Rajni comes into her bedroom, walking haltingly, calling out to Ram. "RAM. Tum kahan ho?" Shaan looks up and immediately jumps out of his seat to go and guide her. "Rajni! Idhar, idhar!" He takes hold of her arms and turns her from side to side, checking her. "Rajni, tum phir se Dhritarashtra mode pe chali gayi?!"

- "Ek minute - tumhe kuch nahi dikhaayi de raha hai?" "Ji haan, Shaan." Whatever little hope Shaan had is crushed now. He makes such an adorable lost puppy face, haha! "Barood se bana hua cake phat gaya. Aur seedhe jaa kar meri aankhon par gira. Jisse meri aankhon ki lens damage ho gayi hai." LOL, Shaan's changing expressions as Rajni tells him all this! How ridiculous does this sound?! Yeah, only Rajni can end up doing such crazy things, thanks to her malfunctions! Shaan, by this point, is just like, "Anyway, chhodo!" Whatever problems she's causing now, his priority is to fix her up. No time to yell at her, because that won't solve anything.

- Shaan has an idea! Use a Handicam's lens to replace Rajni's damaged ones, at least for a temporary fix. "I am proud of me!" He smiles and the words come out reflexively, an old habit revived as he starts fiddling with the camera. Rajni smiles. "Kitne dinon baad aapne yeh line boli, Shaan!" Realization hits him and his smile fades a bit, but he brushes aside whatever emotional impact Rajni's observation might have had and gets back to his task. "Haan, it's okay, okay." Shaan is dealing with all of this far better than I had expected! I am proud of him!

- Rajni and her kaala chashma! Fabulous and hilarious! "Rajani? What is this nonsense! Tum yeh kaala chashma laga ke kyun aayi ho?" "Dikh nahi raha hai! Issliye!" LOLLL, Rajni's matter-of-fact reply to Surili is too adorable! Ram helps his MOBO out. "Woh kya hai, na...Inko jeet ki alaawa kuch bhi nahi dikh raha hai. Issiliye concentration ke liye unhone chashma lagaaya hai!"

- Surili's "motivational" words for her bahus? "Defense karo apna. Bahut strong hai yeh teenon. Bas apni haddiyaan mat todwaana, okay?" Oh, LOL! Very inspiring! Rajni is so much better at this. "Mummyji. Aap sabka saahas tod rahi ho. Main kehti hoon, sab log himmat rakho! Sach aur saahas hai jiske mann mein, anth mein jeet ussi ki hai! 20 minute. 20 minute taaye karenge ki hum sab winners hai ya losers." It's a wonderful speech...but it's not delivered to the audience she had been intending it for. She's facing the wrong direction, ahaha! "Kya aap sab ne meri baat suni? Agar haan, toh mere kehne ka matlab hai...Good luck!" LOL, Rajni. Too cute!

- Through these competitive scenarios, the Kant bahus' solidarity is increasing, and that's a very welcome sight! I really hope they keep this up and continue to build on this rapport from here on out. How they're going to win this competition, though, I don't know...Let's see.

[Episode 244] January 19th, 2017

- Shaan to the rescue! "Papa! Aapne kitna time laga diya, pata hai aapko? Hum log haarne ko aaye hai!" "Der aaye, durust aaye. Sab ready hai!" "Chalo!" Aaah, this baap-beta duo is so great. I love that Ram is constantly calling Shaan "Papa" now, and Shaan is treating Ram like a little confidant and secret-sharer! They're in this together, connected by their relationship to Rajni. They've forged a relationship of their own and it just continues to get stronger with every problem they face together.

- Shaan takes the less conventional route back to the bedroom, jumping through the window and helping Rajni and Ram through as well. I thought this mode of entry was a Dev Bangdu thing, but evidently Shaan isn't above doing the same thing in a crisis! The music in this part of the scene is really cool and quite pretty, too!

- "I hope it works, I hope it works, I hope it works!" Fingers crossed, so tense that he looks like a spring about to decompress, Shaan tells Rajni to open her eyes slowly. "Kuch dikh raha hai?" "Kuch nahi." Shaan frowns and grimaces. All that work and Rajni can't see anything..."Sab kuch dikh raha hai, Shaan!" She can see everything! "Wow, CPU! Aap toh genius ho! Very good!" Awww, hi-fives and hugs all around for this tech-savvy family of three! I love them so much!

- Back to the playing field...and this time Rajni has a strong supporter in Shaan. "Come on, Rajni! Come on!" He stands on the sidelines, watching Rajni with such anticipation that he's bouncing on his feet, unable to stand still for too long. Rajni's victory is Shaan's victory as well! She wins the match and he lets out a triumphant yell, his happiness and pride overflowing. It makes me so HAPPY to see Shaan like this!

- There are quite a few subtle changes in Shaan's mannerisms that reflect his increasing comfort in his relationship with Rajni. Those tiny changes have been so natural and it's wonderful to see Shaan sticking up for Rajni in small but significant ways. When Amrish urges Surili to thank Rajni for helping them win the competition, Surili, to no one's surprise, is reluctant to do so. Shaan just looks at his mother expectantly, almost like he's asking, "You're going to thank her, aren't you, Mom? Come on, now." Rajni deflects Surili's thanks and directs it towards Shaan instead. "Mummyji, agar aapko thanks kehna hi hai, toh Shaan ko kahiye." Shaan gives Rajni a quizzical look, as if wondering, "Why? Why me? You won the match!" "Hum yeh match Shaan ki wajah se jeete hai." And Shaan shakes his head at that. Rajni, Rajni, give yourself some credit! If a robot could be proud of her creator-husband, this is what it would look like. Rajni beams at Shaan, explaining, "Shaan ne mujhe end time par aa kar fix kar diya."

- Thank goodness Shaan and Rajni have Ram to help them out with quick recoveries in the #WhatRajniMeans explanations category. The kid is a quick thinker and he comes to his papa's rescue within seconds of Shaan's stammering. "MOBO ka kehne ka matlab hai, ki papa ne end waqt pe aa kar unka josh badhaaya!" Shaan points to Ram and nods, smiling. Yeah. What Ram said. That's exactly what he meant.

- Kisses for Shaan! Another reason why Ram is a blessing for this family - in his own little ways, he is slowly filling in the cracks between the members of his newly-found family. I hope he'll be able to keep them together and stay with them happily in the end!

- Dhyaan! It feels like forever since he and Rajni had a devar-bhabhi conversation! And what a conversation this is, haha! He wants to help improve his family's financial condition, but he doesn't want to work too hard or incur further losses. "Arrey, Bhabhi! Mujhe dhang se chai banaane ko nahi aati hai, main app kaise banaaoonga?" LOL! Oh, Dhyaan! So hopeless. Is there seriously a way to earn money in the way that he wants to? Apparently there is. And it involves film shooting.

- "OMG! Shogata ke ghar mein shooting! Shogata ki wajah se hi Shogata ko lead role mil jaayega." God, this woman is STUNNING. I love her elegance and confidence...and I also love the innocence that shines through in her excitement! I'm just going to take a moment to gush about the little things in this scene. I've always thought that Shogata's bedroom is the prettiest room in the entire house. It has so much personality and reveals a lot about the talents and interests of the one who decorated it. I'm immensely thankful that the frame is wide enough to show Shogata's floral-print dress from top to bottom - the colors, the flowing, asymmetrical hem, and the cut-outs in the back - what a lovely dress! And the music is as gorgeous as Shogata is! It's sassy and sexy, and I love it so much that I wish it was her theme music now!

- Surili and Co. all look very nice, I must say! I love the deep maroon of Sharmila's little lace dress, the deep blue of Maggie's long dress, and the myriad colors offset by the white of Shogu's gown. Shaan is right, though! Surili does indeed look cute in her coral dress with her charm bracelet! And then there's Rajni, in a turquoise-and-green dress-robe with matching tassel earrings. Always the one to stand out, this girl!

@ Bold! though the scripting, neha's expressions & dialogue delivery everything made the scene too funny the more i think about it i couldn't stop feeling bad for shogu. she can't even stand due to pain & having so much difficulty in walking, her brother & sister in law are laughing at her condition & her parents are not bothered about her pain. though i am glad surili did showed a concern seeing her painful walk she didn't bother to get up & help her. but instead when surili panicked due to bee hive she did get up with great difficulty to help her mom. i seriously feel bad for shogu the more i c. it's evident that she cares for her family. the way the snake was passing from one family member to another she was too horrified for the safety. but when she needed help no one bothered to turn up nor showed any curtosy. i can't stop thinking why did she let her love of life go for these people?

randomly saying i loved the way surili ran to amrish's arms after shaan saved her from snake & amrish too hugged her as if his life has returned back to him. these too are so adorable. i would like to confess this scene reminded me of dev shogu cockroach scene in lab & there hug.
and shogu was too horrifed when snake passed from one family member to another. too worried for there safety!
