Dwelling on the Details: Problem Solving, Rajni-Style!

[Episode 236] January 9th, 2017

- Well, it looks like Shaan's plan to get rid of Rajni and Ram's pet didn't quite work. Moody is back in the house, taking refuge in Ram's room. The irony is not lost on me that this is still Shaan's room. Whoops, Shaan! Try harder next time? If there is a next time, that is...

- Rajni and Ram find the remnants of a plastic bag inside of Moody. That's gross...and awful! Anti-pollution message. Don't litter, people! Animals can suffer because of it!

- Moody's milk saves the day, I mean, saves the party. I'm amused that these same ladies are still interested in attending Surili's house parties even though it has been years since the Kant ladies last held a social gathering of this sort.

- Sharmila is going all-out to make her support of Rajni known. She thanks Rajni profusely, praises her in front of Surili, and even gives Ram (and Moody!) affectionate pats as she leaves the living room. What a nice change!

- "Moody bhi toh ab iss ghar ki bachchi jaisi hui, na, bhai? Jaisi Shogu, waisi Moody." WHAT?! Amrish, seriously?! Comparing your human daughter to a bhains?! "What nonsense!" I commend Amrish for his large-heartedness, but this is a bit much. I'm going to echo Surili here for a moment. What nonsense! If you need to compare Shogu to any animal at all, please compare her to a feline species!

- "Bauji...beti ko kabhi na kabhi vidaa karna hi hota hai. Aisa humari sanskriti mein hai." So...about that...Shogu's bidaai is going to happen when, exactly? And she'll be going to one Dev Bangdu's house, right? Yes or yes?

- "Kuch karoon toh problem, kuch na karoon toh bhi problem!" God, I feel so bad for him. Whatever Shaan does, it's just not enough to make his mother happy. It's never enough.

[Episode 237] January 10th, 2017

- "Oye! Apni area mein laga na, yaar, chakkar!" LOL, what are these two doing? Randomly wandering in circles outside? Everyone has been waiting for a doctor, apparently. And he's a very questionable doctor, too. LOL at Shogu facepalming at the doctor's "check-up" methods while Sharmila struggles to hide her amusement!

- Oh my god, this doctor is ridiculous! Shogu's face during this whole check-up? #Facepalm #Confused #ExasperatedEyeroll #SMH Yeah, her reactions are my reactions, too. #WTH

- "Mummyji! Abhi thodi der pehle hi aap apni room mein fried fish aur sandesh khaa rahi thi!" Ahaha, Shogu's like, "Mom?!" Shaan's like, "Mom..." And there's a bit of Shaan/Shogu teamwork at play, too, in order to get a glass of water. Yay!

- "Diet and exercise humse nahi hoga!" And Shogu's relief transforms into worry and disbelief. Next to her, Rajni's composed expression changes into one of concern...and for a good reason. How is Surili going to improve her health if she doesn't change her lifestyle?

- "Yaar, jaisi bhi hai...hai Bangaalan toh iss ghar di mukhiya, na?" Yes, that is a fact. I just wish she wasn't so stubborn all the time.

- "Mom. Mom! Mom?! Mom, please!" Shogata has now become a nurse for her mother's sake. Getting Surili to take her medicine is no easy feat, though. Shogu sees an opportunity at hand, steps up with the pill... "Don't even try it!" Never mind. She tries again. "Don't!" I have to hand it to Shogu for her perseverance. She just keeps trying to pop that pill into her mom's mouth, whatever it takes! "Ohhh!" "No!" Darn it, caught again! When Surili takes a moment to remind Rajni that she agreed to take the medicine but not to exercise and diet, Shogu attempts to use those words to her advantage. "Good! Toh abhi le lo! Please, please!" Nope. It takes a massive beti-bahu team effort to make sure Surili swallows that one pill. Good luck with those exercises tomorrow.

- "Amrish! Tumne darwaaza band kiya tha, na?" "Oye, maine koi darwaaza band nahi - darwaaza main kyun band karoon?" "Oh, Amrish! Ki korchho tumi, Amrish? Humko uthna padega!" These two are such cuties sometimes! Also, love the spontaneous - and correct - Bengali here!

- Surili gets up to close the door...and she sees a fish. A very, very fried fish. On a moving trolley. Ram pulls the trolley away from his Daadi using a string that she can't see. It's like Ram and Rajni are baiting Surili herself...using a fish. "Fish kidhar gayi? Abhi toh yahan pe thi!" Surili looks around, bewildered. "Paani mein toh nahi gayi?!?" LOLLL, Surili!

[Episode 238] January 11th, 2017

- The highlights of this episode for me? All of the Shaan/Shogu moments! I've always loved watching them interact, whether through verbal banter/arguments or nonverbal exchanges of glances. This episode has plenty of both! YAY!

- "Shaan..." Shogu points a finger at her brother, he responds by mirroring her. She grabs his finger and they engage in a little finger-tug-of-war, haha. So adorably crazy, this sibling jodi! BTW...this little moment also parallels the time when Shogu did the exact same thing to Dev! "Shut up!" "You shut up!" "WTH!" "Whatever!" Shogu looks up at her brother, who raises his eyebrows at her. She finally surrenders. "Fine."

- Special mention to Sharmila being a cutie and siding with Rajni, making adorable faces all the while. Aww!

- Shaan/Shogu at the dining table, watching their mother's tantrums and making exasperated faces in response! They're so similar, so in sync with each other! I really, really like seeing Raqesh and Neha play around with the various facets of the bond that Shaan and Shogu share - there has been a lot more interaction between them since the leap took place, and even slightly prior to that...I feel like Shaan and Shogu are more understanding and more sympathetic towards each other now, sometimes even to the point of being on the same wavelength. It's lovely to see them like this.

[Episode 239] January 12th, 2017

- Shaan is now spending time in his room with Rajni and Ram, trying to help them figure out how to improve Surili's health. When did this switch in behavior happen? I'm not too sure, and that's a good thing! It was certainly gradual enough for me to be happy with the progress in Shaan-Rajni's relationship! It's so nice to see him expressing his faith in her abilities like this! He trusts her to get things done! And that's a massive step forward in terms of their relationship dynamics.

- LOLLL Surili and the syringe! She thinks Shogu is here to massage her head? LOL, nope! "Thank you. Goodbye!" Ahaha, I love Rajni! So cute she is!

- Amrish-Surili being precious! "Usne kaunsa tera khoon mein sharbat milaake peena hai? Chup ho jaa!" LMAO!

- Shogu, looking pretty even while eavesdropping outside of Shaan-Rajni-Ram's room. Sharmila, being the supportive bahu who cares for her saas's health, very sweet. I am so very happy to see this side of the girl, and I really can't say that enough! The Maggie-Sharmila moments are quite fun now, too!

- "Mom!" Shogu comes running to her mother's room. Oh my gosh! Her little shoesss! Shogu has a warning - Rajni is on the way over to their little hideout. "Aap uss khidki se kood jaayiye!" LOLL, Shogu's reaction to Maggie's suggestion! Just Shogu in this entire scene - and the next one! Shogu and her gorgeous face!

- "Jahan chah hai, wahan raah hai. Don't worry, RAM. Main har situation ke liye fully prepared hoon. You just wait and watch." Aaah, Rajni! She looks so stunning here! I love Rajni/Ram's little mother-son moments so much. The way they team up to solve problems together is wonderful and it says a lot about how connected and precious they are to each other!

- Ahaha, Surili rambling about what makes a saas "khaas," while Sharmila makes a "She's crazy!" gesture casually off to the side. Has being in Rajni's company made Sharmila more pleasantly sassy? She's nowhere near as petulant or melodramatic now - and that's a very good thing. She seems far more at peace with herself, and I think the positive changes in her rapport with Dhyaan, Rajni, and even Ram have helped with that.

- Shogu screams and jumps onto her mom's vanity chair because she's the first one to see the mouse in the room. I didn't know she was SO terrified of mice! First cockroaches, now mice...what else is on the list? Is she actually scared of lizards, too? I wonder what Dev would say to this!

- Awww! Shogu got samosas and other food for dinner! She looks super pretty in this sleepwear, gah! This woman and her damn face! LOVE her expressions! Even in Surili's dream, Shogata looks absolutely lovely!

- "Aapki bahuon ko bahut bhook lagi hai!" And Shogu has to speak up for herself, poor thing. "Aur beti ko bhi!" The more I pay attention to these little things that Shogu says, the more I find myself wondering if she feels lonely and isolated in spite of living in such a large house with so many people. More often than not, she has to fight to make herself heard.

[Episode 240] January 13th, 2017

- Super fast forward mode?! This episode has the workout session, Lohri celebrations, Maggie's makeup woes, AND the snake/tie confusion!

- "Paper???" Shogu is so observant, man. "Fridge mein paper kaun rakhta hai??? It's a note!"

- "Oye, khaanachor toli!" LOL, best! That's exactly what they are! Also I love that Shaan comes into the kitchen with Amrish, Rajni, and Ram. He's officially on #TeamRajni now?

- "Main jaanta hoon aapko bhook lagi hai. In fact, aap sabhi ki pet mein chuhe party kar rahe honge iss waqt." Look at the sass! I love it! Haha, Shogu hanging her head like a sad, guilty, starving child, Dhyaan nodding his head innocently, and Ghyaan nodding unhappily! "But sorry, guys. We can't help you."

- Exercise with the Kants! So much going on here! Amrish is surprisingly in shape while Surili is not surprisingly out of shape. Ghyaan is having trouble stretching while Dhyaan is so fit that he teases his brother and does push-ups with Ram on his back! Shogu is so dedicated to working out properly, Maggie is trying her best, and Sharmila is just...not.

- Shogata saunters into the house, on the way to retrieve her phone. She takes a casual look around the living room as she's passing through...and she lets out a shriek. The furniture is GONE! Shogu's screams draw the rest of the family inside. Where the hell is all of their furniture?! "Chori ho gaya?!" "Maine liya!" This is giving me such deja vu - Rajni responded in a similar manner when questions came up about Dev-Shogu's marriage in court. "Maine kiya!" LMFAO, Dhyaan's "WHAT." gesture! He's not even surprised to hear this, haha. Of course, it's Rajni Bhabhi's doing. Who else would have done something like this?

- So where is all the living room furniture? "Bahar. Jal raha hai." Everyone's like, "WHAT?!" Varying degrees of shock and incredulous expressions...And then there's Shaan. He's just like, "...What?" Shaan is me right now, to be honest. #SMH

- Shaan and Rajni are so CUTE, awww! She's back to mirroring his gestures!

- "...I'll just get the phone." Shogata is done for the night. Ahaha, I love her. How BEAUTIFUL does Shogata look, though?!?!

- Shaan watches Shogu leave, then turns to see Rajni leaving - he turns from one direction to the other, a bit lost, unsure where to go! Haha, just go after Rajni, Shaan!

- Shogu is on camera duty, taking pictures of everyone. She manages to get a bit of dancing in, with the phone in hand. She's mostly alone, though...Aww, I wish Dev were here! I'm sure he wouldn't have let her feel lonely for even a second!

- Another day, another issue. Today, Maggie is overwhelmed by a makeup box. "Hello, Maggie Bhabhi." "Hel-lo." Too cute, too cute. Maggie can be so precious sometimes!

- Of all days to ask Rajni for help with makeup, Maggie had to pick this one. Rajni can't see what she's doing...but she helps Maggie apply her eye shadow anyway. Oh god, poor Maggie looks like a bruised panda!

- "Pillar #2!" "Mere sensors ke mutaabiq, yeh ek chaddar ho sakti hai. Unsure!" "Yeh ek kurta hai. I am sure!" Rajni is such a cutie! I love Ridhima's voice modulation so much!

- "Yeh patli hai...chauri bhi nahi hai...aur lambi bhi hai! Yehi hai Ghyaan Bhaiyya ki tie!" Such a triumphant deduction, LOLLL!

- "Maggie! Mujhe tie baandh ke do! Tumhe pata hai na, mujhe tie baandhna nahi aati! Aa jaao!"

- "Oh Maa! Thak gaye! Rajani ki wajah se morning walk kar kar ke humari saari haddiyaan dheeli ho gayi! Par achha bhi lag raha hai! Par hum Rajni ko thank you toh bilkul nahi bolenge." *sigh* Oh, come on, Surili! Just when I think she's softening up and getting over her ego, she proves me wrong. But still, this is an improvement. I'll take whatever I can get.

- I have to admit that in spite of her ego issues, Surili still manages to make me laugh in spite of myself. Pallaviji's comic timing is just too fabulous! This craziness in the kitchen is one of the best examples of it! Surili is hungry, so she sticks an entire pineapple on her plate and gets a knife to slice it! "Mmm...Hmmm? Yeh bhi humari life ki tarah ekdam pheeka ho gaya hai! Lagta hai yeh bhi diet pe chala gaya!" LMAO! Surili! A pineapple on a diet?! "Green tea pe hi kaam chalaana hoga." And she talks to the tea. "Bas tum hi ho humare naseeb mein." This is hilarious! And she's wearing that hoodie and looking so adorable, too!

- Rajni's lens problems lead to her accidentally hitting the plate with the pineapple on it, which sends the fruit flying into the air - only to land on Surili's head. "Pineapple???" "Hello, Mummyji!" "Of course, yeh tumne kiya hoga." "Yeh cap aapko bahut suit kar rahi hai!" "Cap. Yeh tumhe cap lag rahi hai ab?" Pineapple cap, oh my god! I'm dying. This is too crazy and too funny! "Oh my god! What nonsense!"

@ Bold i agree the highlight of episode was shaan shogu moments. it has been ages v saw them fighting like cats & dogs. post leap the bond even more strengthened. they have been in sync for many things ever since the leap happened. i must say Raquesh & Neha makes such an adorable brother sister duo. with Karan & Neha i could always see childish innocence in there relationship but with Raquesh i could really relate him as a protective elder brother of shogu.
randomly i would like to confess the love Shogu has for surili is so pure that she can't bare her pain even if it is for surili's goodness. that made me think if at all ever she had to go against her mother in life how she is going to cope up with it?
