They were doing so well...As much as I love Shaan-Rajni, I think Dev-Shogata provide a lot of spice and energy to the show. As a couple, they also provide a neat contrast to Shaan-Rajni. It would be nice to see those contrasts explored more in the show, but we need Dev to come back for that to happen!
I absolutely agree with you about Dev and his unrealized feelings for Shogata! Solace, attention, and love - that is what they both are seeking, I think. And they unconsciously keep gravitating toward each other probably because they find those things in each other's presence, deep down. There have been little instances, ever since Shogu was introduced, hinting at how she might have harbored feelings for Dev at some point. It turned out that they've known each other for practically their whole lives and that she had a crush on him...which I personally don't think has ever faded. I think her feelings just got stronger...and she tried to suppress them and turn that attraction into repulsion since her mother wouldn't ever approve of someone like Dev. The entire marriage ordeal was interesting, though, because Dev constantly kept trying to dissuade Shogu from getting married to Matthew. Dev had a variety of reasons to justify it...but I think, somewhere inside, it was because he does care for Shogata. He cared about her life and future enough to try and save her from what he thought would be a miserable marriage. He didn't have to, but he did.
I loved all of the episodes with Shogu in that blue dress because all the little scenes that revolved around Dev hinted at a lot going on beneath the surface, psychologically! The scenes in the lab are perfect examples of how comfortable they are with each other. I loved how Shogata showed up to bother Dev and accuse him of taking her phone...The girl constantly makes assumptions about how he is attracted to her, and he keeps shooting her down, but she never stops! I also loved how Dev tried and failed to stay focused on his work - Shogu distracted him and that was that! Can't forget that Maggie and Amrish-Surili all thought that Dev and Shogu were up to something in the lab...it certainly looked like that! And yes, the best part was that Dev went running to Shogata as soon as he saw that cockroach - and he wouldn't stop clinging to her, even after her repeated attempts to shrug him off. Also...Shogata ran straight into Dev's arms when she was trying to get away from the cockroach, too - and they kept holding onto each other, even after Amrish-Surili caught them together. The physical contact is so natural for them and their familiarity is such that they sometimes think and speak in similar ways...They get thrown off-balance only when they consciously realize it! Nowadays, I think it doesn't even bother them much that they are on the same wavelength. They complete each other's sentences, he tries to temporarily extend a hand in friendship, she urges him to make her proud, she clearly cares what he thinks of her, and she has adapted to being "Dev Bangdu's wife" in name. But Dev is going to be a tough one, it seems. He might take a while to realize how deep his feelings are and exactly what they mean.
Sigh. This is what happens when I haven't written about Dev-Shogata for a while...There is just so much to see and so much to say about these two! Love them and hope we get to see them soon!
