I am watching the show mainly because of Ridhima pandit, Neil, Neha Kaul & Pallavi ji. Other wise post Shaan' s exit the show has became boring especially the court scenes. Surili being a lawyer herself bringing up all saas Bahu fights & crow in court was totally ridiculous I know it's a comedy show but still it looked not convincing. As one of the forumite said they should stop blame game on Rajini again & again it's repetitive & boring. Surili as a character had a lot of potential but they had made her into a typical saas who loves to put down her Bahu which looks so awkward as she herself always says about women rights & independence. Even the reason for Shaan' plastic surgery looks so idiotic. As an actor raqesh is doing a good job but he fact is that he never reminds me of Shaan anywhere. He totally looks like a new character somewhere audience is missing the carefree, messy, stupid yet intense Shaan. I liked the workers in factory issue. Both Rajni & Shogita looked classy in the entire sequence of factory issues. Post shaan's missing I liked the intensity bought in dev's character. Though he was too furious & rude with Rajni his behaviour bought out the love & loyality as a bestfriend of Shaan. The way he recognised Shaan was too awesome. Also I loved the scenes developed between dev & Shogu. I have never seen such a weird but yet adorable couple. Especially the scene where dev told shogu that she is looking gorgeous today & she cross checked in mirror for the first we got to see a normal girlish side of Shogu. For me the most interesting character in this show is dev & Shogu apart Rajni
So many good points here! I'd like to add my thoughts to this!
As far as the Shaan-Rajni relationship goes, I've been watching the show for Rajni ever since the Shaan-Samaira track made me lose connection with the character of Shaan. That connection was reestablished somewhat once the Amartya-Bubbles track picked up steam. I may be the only one here who is glad to see a return to the way Shaan was in the early stages of the show, with more seriousness and rationality. I always liked Shaan's wit, which manifested as verbal comedy, not the slapstick, OTT physical comedy that made him look like a caricature of a mad scientist. Neither Shaan nor Dev were ever portrayed as idiots at the beginning of the show - they are both sharp and witty personalities. I always felt that Karan and even Neel, for that matter, were at their best when Shaan and Dev were humorous with an undertone of seriousness. Understated acting was the reason I could relate to both of their characters. That is what lent realism to the show.
To me, personally, Raqesh's arrival seems to be bringing back the understated acting that I had started to miss over the past few months. I would like to see him loosen up more, as many have said, but I don't want his portrayal of Shaan to turn into a crazy, egotistical goofball - that is not who Shaan is. That would just be going backwards in terms of character development. I'm seeing more sensitivity and compassion in Shaan now, which is connected to hints of the development that I saw most strongly in the poolside honeymoon scenes. Also, the depth of the bond between Shaan and Dev came out beautifully in their recognition/reunion scene. That one scene gave an entirely new dimension to their friendship and it also made up for all of the insults and abuse that Shaan kept throwing at Dev in the previous months. Thank god for that, and I hope they keep strengthening that friendship.
Surili is such a major contradiction in terms of what she is supposed to represent - an educated, modern Bengali woman with a business - and what she actually seems to be representing - an ignorant, narcissistic woman who insults anyone and everyone at the slightest provocation. It frustrates me so much because Pallaviji is a fantastic actress with an amazing range of expressions. She is adorable! But I just cannot trust or like Surili Kant while the character keeps behaving like this! There needs to be progress in this character more than the others! Shogata is so much more layered and understandable than Surili is!
The Dev-Shogata relationship has been my lifeline for many months now, and that is no secret to anyone who has read anything I've written! I find Dev and Shogata to be so incredibly fascinating as individuals and as a couple. They seem like opposites, but I keep seeing characteristics that suggest they are not as different as they seem! They're both sassy and emotional, yet sensitive and rational. We've seen a softer side to Shogata before in tiny little moments from time to time, and I absolutely loved seeing that resurface in front of Dev in the office scene! Neel and Neha have been doing an incredible job with all of the scenes that they have been given, packing every single second with nuances. They're such talented actors that every moment they're onscreen together reveals something about their characters and the relationship that they share. That is the kind of stuff that I love watching, and I think that is how a good show should be. Every scene should move the story and characters forward in some way.
