Other Favorite Show(s): I've liked bits and pieces of quite a few shows over the years. Among Indian shows, my favorites are Laagi Tujhse Lagan, Jee Le Zara, and Sanjivani. Recently I really liked Pyaar Ko Ho Jaane Do, and obviously Bahu Humari Rajni_Kant is on my list now, too! Among English shows, right now I like Doctor Who and Sherlock...The first 3 series of Downton Abbey were great, too.
Favorite Celebrities: Mohnish Behl, Mishal Raheja, Sudeep Sahir, Iqbal Khan, Iravati Harshe, Sangita Ghosh, Mahhi Vij, Shraddha Arya, Kratika Sengar, Aashka Goradia, Mona Singh, and the latest to join this list are Karan V Grover and Ridhima Pandit!
Reasons for watching this show: I'd seen Pankit in DMG back in 2008, and I liked his ability to portray a sweet-yet-sarcastic character with ease. I knew he was back with a new show this year, but I honestly didn't think about seriously tuning into BHR until I came across Ridhima's Instagram message in that IF article. That got me curious about her character, plus I'd never seen an Indian sci-fi show before. I liked the first two episodes but the third one, with Rajni being dumped/abandoned by Shaan at the end, was what really sealed the deal as far as emotional investment goes. The fourth episode took it further and I fell in love with Shaan and Rajni's relationship even more. I'm here for Shaan-Rajni and I always will be! I am already fond of a lot of the family relationships, particularly Amrish-Surili, Amrish-Rajni, the rapport between the men of the Kant parivaar, and Shaan-Rajni-Kuhu. I like the fun, tongue-in-cheek tone of the show, but what stands out to me is the way the emotional moments are woven into the chaos, too. Here's hoping that there will be more of that subtle sensitivity!
The ensemble cast is great, but my personal favorites are definitely Karan, Ridhima, Pallaviji, Rajendraji, and Pankit. Neel and Anokhee are fun to watch as well, and Palak is an absolute darling!
A few lines about yourself: From experience, I have become quite good at drawing my own "end lines" for each of the shows that I've watched and seen deviate from their planned story arc...I'd like to see more engaging shows with quality writing and acting that are able to meet their natural ends gracefully, not prematurely or dragged to death. I love watching actors bring their characters and those onscreen relationships to life in front of the camera, so I tend to be more of a fan of jodis than individual actors...I also tend to write a lot (whenever I do write, that is) so that's why this post is so long! 😆
