Have earlier written reviews for shows on Star Plus (those who've read them know me😊), but never attempted the same for Bade Bhaiyya Ki Dulhaniya!
So here I am, pulled to this section of the forum coz BBKD is such a magnet, such a crowd-puller!!

First things first, I don;t know if anyone has noticed this before, but don't you think the videography of this show is just WAYYY TOO CINEMATIC by television standards? Every time I watch it, I'm like, "Bilkul film wali shooting hui hai iss show ki." So kudos to those relatively high, high standards. Devpur as a location for the shoot is AMAZING! What freshness, what romance in the air..even when Abhishek and Meera are just looking into each other's eyes, there's so much that is constantly happening. Even when there are NO snowflakes falling, NO violins playing, NO butterflies flapping their wings and flitting from here to there...

I LOVE the entire cast!!👏 Brilliant story, direction and a powerhouse production👏

Now coming to what I loved today -

1. Abhishek was still the nice guy who did not want to hurt his Amma and was patiently trying to make her see understand how Meera is just right for the family. Though the logic that Meera did so-and-so for the 'parivaar' made it sound like his love was conditional, in reality it was not. There is no better way to reason with a stubborn, old, whacked woman (Yes, I totally call Amma out on her hypocrisy😡) than with these flimsy reasons. But when she still chose to act like a petulant child, Abhishek too put his foot down and threw off his turban, saying, alright, I wont marry Meera, but I won't marry anyone else either. He had anyway lost his heart to her pehli baar mein, pehle hi din...even before she did him and his family this huge bucket of favours. And he did try to hide his disappointment when the truth came out. But his eyes...o m g...melting like hot chocolate...when she told him she loved him. I mean, aise mein KAUN uss chudail Radhika se shaadi karne ko haan karta?? This doesn;t even require common sense

LOVED, LOVED, LOVED IT! He stuck to his guns till the end! Probably for the first time he stood up for himself, his wishes, his happiness. I love this change Meera has brought about in him. Personally, I was scandalised when Amma said - Abhishek, tu apni khushi ke liye parivaar ki khushi daav pe laga raha hai?

I mean, how insensitive, biased and callous can someone be?? How DARE she say that, after ALL Abhishek has suffered and done for the family?

But too good, he didn't give up. Love you Abhishek😛

2. LOVED Bubbly's "bubble-has-burst" avatar!!

I mean, the ONLY frikkin thing Madhu chachi has to say to Bubbly is, "AAP TO UPAR BAITHI REHTI HAIN" and I'm like, moron, she hasn't disappeared into space, you know. She is living, walking, talking, breathing human and she is the groom's (ex-groom's) MOM. She has all the rights in the world to decide his life, more than any of you jerks acting like a a pile-on.

And so I loved it when she stood up to Amma ji for the sake of her son. Threatening kaho, ya emotional blackmail, she did what she felt was right for her son. And for once, Abhishek did not shut his mother up. When someone quiet and seemingly timid person speaks up, it can be shocking, terrifying, or both, in equal measures! Amma ji faced this moment today where she probably realized her DIL was every bit right and now she had NO reason whatsoever to keep crucifying Abhishek for the "parivaar"'s sake.

Loved Bubbly and Abhiskek...what powerful characters...they were eased out of their timid shells! What writing, what direction👏

Madhu Chachi STILL had the gall to come ruin this happy moment. I mean, she needs some serious whacking.

3. Meera's mom, in a way, is like Bubbly...but slightly more emancipated. and definitely the elite-but-still-the-female-sex-so-kinda-inferior Mom. But the way she stood up to her husband today and pleaded with him to see things from Meera's perspective, really bowled me over. From the beginning, I had a feeling she would be the one to first catch this unspoken tense-yet-indescribably-soothing-air between her daughter and Abhishek.

And the way Meera's dad tried to drag her away from this "tamasha" and this "middle-class family'" was so like DDLJ...the last scene where Amrish Puri keeps clinging to Kajol's hand, while ShahRukh looks at her with swollen eyes, with his bloodied lips, slightly apart...

there it was, "Jaa Simran jaa...jee le apni zindagi"

Here it was - "Jaa..aur apni zindagi ki sabse badi galti kar...aur usse seekh...aur kam se kam iss baar mujhe galat saabit kar"

So yea, Papa Hitler is angry with himself for not being able to "protect" his daughter like he has always done, he is pissed she isn't listening to sense, is also torn between granting her the space to come into her own and make her life's decisions...and interfering in what can make her happy.

But in the end, he still dearly hopes, that his lost, confused daughter stick to her guns and see this through. And work it out. He still hopes for her happiness. Zubaan pe gussa hai, dil mein pyaar...

oh, what a moment!👏

beautifully executed and surprisingly, not filmy😆

4. THE COUSINS. OH MAN! I just LOVE the whole bunch of them. They may squabble over petty issues, have sneaky habits, be irrational, but they love Abhishek to the hilt. They would do anything for Bade Bhaiyya's happiness. In the entire Pant household, apart from Bubbly of course, the cousins really, truly adore their BB and genuinely want to see him happy.

Love this crazzzyyy family with sooo many shades. Maybe this is Meera's escape from her boring, monotonous, IAS-family wali zindagi.

5. Abhishek-Meera hug Poori duniya jaaye bhaad mein, this is OUR moment.

Madhu Chachi and Amma looked like knives were forked into their fragile egos, bade chacha looked MORTIFIED (almost like, what the f**k is going on, koi mujhe batayega types??)...chote chacha-chachi looked kinda happy, Bubbly played the mouth organ and looked down at the couple, tightly holding each other in the warmest, longest embrace of their lives.

And the cousins were like ...PICTURE ABHI SHURU HUI HAI😆

What an episode, what an episode!!

I'm so thrilled!

I always felt shy guys always lost their hearts to chatty, mad girls...and of course, vice-versa
Speakin from experience😉😆

Let me know what you think guys...

akansha, i always loved your reviews.
and today is no different bt m sad that you came at the moment this show is gonna end 😔

and you are right, the cinematography and camera work of this show is of movie standards and even direction is top notch. This show has got a class.aise hi aise kisi show ko 9.2 imdb rating nahi mil jaati.

bt coming to the episode, i loved every bit of the episode.

Abhishek making Amma convince was very good.I loved the part when Abhi got irritated and said,"if you won't let me marry meera,i will never get married". i loved his stand against Amma.

Ah,m gonna miss Abhi-bubbly.they are by far the best mother-son duo i have come across on tv.

I felt for Papa raizada in the scene he tells meera to go and prove him wrong.A father was talking.😭
He also wants meera to be happy bt he can't do anything when meera has chosen her way life which he thinks is incorrect.

I loved the last scene when meera came running to Abhishek's arm and Abhishek in srk wala pose.i never liked srk wala pose bt now that pose has become my favorite 😳.And bubly playing the mouth organ was ❤️

I absolutely loved your review!! So well-written, thanks 😊

I can't get over today's episode - I loved Abhishek today. Someone mentioned that they would have liked to see him convince Meera's dad as well, but I think it was fine the way they showed it. Perhaps Abhishek and Meera's dad would have had scenes together later on, but of course we will never get to see that part of the storyline now that the show is ending.

I'm just amazed at how well put together these last several episodes have been - they are doing a great job with the editing too. Everyone is acting their heart out, and it just makes it all the more sad that we only have 4-5 episodes left. I can't believe why the idiots at Sony can't see the sheer hard work and dedication by everyone - I know it will never happen, but how miraculous it would be if this show got a second chance by seeing the kind of effort that is being put forth by the makers. Wishful thinking 😕

I also loved the DDLJ type ending - and they didn't really copy it exactly, so I didn't mind. When Meera's dad says "jaa apni zindagi ki sabse badi galti kar", it seemed real - that's exactly what I would have expected her dad to say in that situation.

Abhishek-Meera's hug at the end was So happy for bade bhaiya and his dulhania!

and today is no different bt m sad that you came at the moment this show is gonna end 😔 Thanks Divan...I read it somewhere on the forum, but it's true then, that the show is ending?? I mean, WHY? This is one of the BEST shows on TV right now😕 which show is gonna take its place? Behad, which is being promoted mercilessly??

and you are right, the cinematography and camera work of this show is of movie standards and even direction is top notch. This show has got a class.aise hi aise kisi show ko 9.2 imdb rating nahi mil jaati. 9.2 imdb rating?? WOW!! That's crazy!! Why are they ending it then?

Abhishek making Amma convince was very good.I loved the part when Abhi got irritated and said,"if you won't let me marry meera,i will never get married". i loved his stand against Amma. Ditto😊

Ah,m gonna miss Abhi-bubbly.they are by far the best mother-son duo i have come across on tv. Same here..there is so much intuitive understanding between the two...no OTT maa-beta scenes...but the love, warmth and understanding is so deep

I felt for Papa raizada in the scene he tells meera to go and prove him wrong.A father was talking.😭
He also wants meera to be happy bt he can't do anything when meera has chosen her way life which he thinks is incorrect. Yup! Like I said, torn b/w two ends.

I loved the last scene when meera came running to Abhishek's arm and Abhishek in srk wala hahaha...me too...didn't Meera do the same thing in some earlier scene?

pose.i never liked srk wala pose bt now that pose has become my favorite 😳.And bubly playing the mouth organ was ❤️ Haha...SRK doing that scene is like, MEH, STOP IT NOW WITH THE EXCESS ROMANCE BRO...but today, I was in a puddle of emotions...so so cute! I'm really gonna miss this pair😭

Perhaps Abhishek and Meera's dad would have had scenes together later on, but of course we will never get to see that part of the storyline now that the show is ending. I too liked that he stuck to convincing Amma instead...baap ko manana and all that would've been following filmy stereotypes...and quite predictable...the show is ending...WHY GOD WHY? Which show is taking its place??😭

Wishful thinking 😕 I know...WHY DO THEY WANT TO REMOVE THIS SHOW? I mean, don;t they like ppl flockin to this channel? I NEVER ever switch to Sony, never did, until BBKD started...and man, I was soo bowled over!! so many situations can be roped in to make post Abheera-confession story interesting...they have an ENTIRE BUNCH of actors in this ensemble cast...and yet, they wanna do away with it...really...dimag-less ppl all of them😡

I also loved the DDLJ type ending - and they didn't really copy it exactly, so I didn't mind. When Meera's dad says "jaa apni zindagi ki sabse badi galti kar", it seemed real - that's exactly what I would have expected her dad to say in that situation. Me too...NO father in his sane mind wud say - Jaa beta jaa, jee le apni zindagi...maybe they will cave in to the child's demands, but they will ALWAYS have a disclaimer in place. So real.

Abhishek-Meera's hug at the end was So happy for bade bhaiya and his dulhania!

Hahha..I know.the BEST hug on TV ever! So much genuinity and warmth in that hug...so heartfelt...
