Itna toh main maang hi sakta hoon khud ke liye"... What a superb 360 from "main bas meri family ki khushi chahta hoon".
I love it when the supposed "perfect" character has a character graph- abhi in this episode was exactly that. Look what meera's love did to him...he is now thinking more and more about himself, he has a balance now, not only did he lash out against his family (not for the first time though), but he also lashed out against his father and almost insulted him- so very unlike his normal demeanor...i guess, like someone here already mentioned, he can tolerate any amount of BS by his family, but abandoning seems to be the one unforgivable thing. No surprises that the scene was elevated by PJ- his expressions, dialogue delivery and body language and the 'swag' ofcourse, mentioned by sinamika, was so bang-on.
The reason meera keeps on pushing yogi uncle and abhi, for now stems up only from her own personal experience- wanting abhi to experience his dad's love...in her opinion, he has a father who dotes on him so much, so why doesn't he let by-gones be by-gones? It's a classic case of 'the grass is greener on the other side', nothing else.
The birthday party, again, meera being a complete tubelight- yes, it seems utterly stupid of her, lol..if i were aman i would have been as appalled and offended too- his family had the perfect expressions, they are d-bags, but nobody deserves this...lol. Meera knows absolutely nothing about how to act as a would-be wife. For a girl like her, she either needs someone whose family would either inspire her to be that kind of woman, or then, accept her the way she is. Aman's family definitely isn't the former, while Abhi's family is the latter- coz their ONLY potential objection to her would be her rich-girl status, otherwise they have absolutely no problems with the kind of person she is (she has also passed their perfect bahu questionnare..lol). I've said this before, will say it again- meera and pants fit together like pieces of a puzzle, it may seem odd when you look at them separately, but join them together and they become one picture perfect family- each one so imperfect and carrying their own series of flaws, balanced perfectly by one another. Abhi's ultimate acknowledgement upon watching his cousins and family smiling and laughing together, that it is meera coz of whom all this is possible, says it all.
Things I absolutely didnt like:
1. Radhika...W*F is wrong with her? The BG music is horrendous, i felt second hand embarassing for the fact that she is in such an otherwise classy set-up. Oh, i hope she isn't here to make meera "jealous" and hence pave the way in for her realization. Ugh, she should just go. Period.
2. Yogi uncle's characterization is the weakest link of all. It's a pity coz Abhi's angst and his character build-up requires a super strong reason and backstory, or else, it all looks to superficial. There is no dialogues between babli and yogi uncle, it's almost as if yogi uncle is still missing. The only time he is onscreen is when he has to interact with abhi. Plus, I don't know if it's acting or characterization but the guy has a perpetually confused/accusatory expression on his face that just doesn't change! Looks like the writers are investing so much in abhi-meera-aman etc storyline that they don't have enough talent/time to invest in this one, except for random FBs. For now, we are to accept that yogi uncle left without a single word and now that he is back, how do his family members react? If that is the case, they should build up more on other's reactions too.
^its things like these two that scare me the most when i imagine the future of the show. The good thing is that, my expectations have been lowered since that one dreadful week, now I don't expect any flawless narration, so that will hopefully work for me.
