Loved the episode!
The nuances that PJ brings to Abhi-Meera scenes keep getting better and better. @TM: you nailed it when you said that sometimes love is about cherishing the tiny moments, rather than being with the person. In Abhi's case, he has no other choice but to be this way...he seems to have fallen for someone who can never return his affections- atleast now. She belongs to someone else, but that doesn't stop him from falling harder and harder for her, after all- dil toh baccha hai ji...
I don't find the angst weird at all (but then I didn't find the realization rushed as well).. In fact, had any lesser actor portrayed it, it might have ended up looking selfish and wrong, to wish that the girl would become his, despite knowing that her engagement has been fixed, but PJ keeps the fine line between making it painful and beautiful at the same time...the way he keeps holding her hand even when Aman looks on, holding onto his dream for one tiny, selfish moment...PJ was brilliant in the scene where he gets to know that the engagement has been preponed...the dream shattering into pieces now, yet a teeny-tiny hope somewhere.
You can also see that Meera has influenced him in thinking about himself more- sure, he does feel that he might be selfish at times (the scene where he hugs ramraj, which in the first place he becomes emotional only after his talks with meera)...but he holds his own on front of amma asking her (and indirectly himself) whether it is soo wrong to think of his own happiness. So, i get why the makers "rushed" his realization- all these changes in Abhi seem more believable now that he knows and acknowledges that he is in love. As such, he isn't a guy who has shied away from believing in love or marriage, he had no qualms in marrying a girl his family chose for him, no doubt, hoping that love will follow later...but with Meera, it is all unexpected and I'm glad that his reserved demeanor doesn't automatically mean he is in denial about all his feelings, like it normally is the case with this character prototype in other shows.
Loved, loved, loved the madhu chachi-meera moments in the kitchen. Looks like eventually amma will be the only one who might have a huge problem with abhi-meera rishta no doubt due to her prejudice abt 'ameer ghar ki ladkiyan'... Yograj uncle keeps getting weirder and weirder...i wish they built up on his character more, especially if he is going to play a role in furthering Abhi-Meera : he already doubts something is up and he seems to genuinelt like Meera too.
Also, some more Rohan-Abhi-Meera too, that bond is precious!! The cousins ki toli are awww-dorable and Abhi-Meera power play about whom the cousins love more was sooo cute!! Looking forward to the birthday celebrations next week- Finally!
