Nakuul Mehta was born on 17 January 1983 in Udaipur Rajasthan, India, to a Royal Family. He descends from King Pritviraj Chuhan of Rajput Chuhan Dynasty of Mewar. His father, Pratap Singh Mehta, is a veteran of Indo-Pak war of 1971. while Mehta's great great grandfather Laxmilal Mehta was the military-in-chief of the Mewar region. He is a practising Buddhist. He married singer, Jankee Parekh Mehta in January 2012.
After completing his Master's degree in Commerce from the Mumbai University, he started his career with modeling. His tryst with showbiz happened in college days itself when he was spotted by director Satish Kaushik and cast in a soft-drink advertisement. He was seen with Shah Rukh Khan in the Clinic All Clear ad.
He was quite active in Theater too. Thereafter, there was no looking back for Nakuul, who went on to do fifty commercials before Bollywood producer Kumar Mangat spotted him and called him for an audition of a film exclusively designed to launch his daughter Amita Pathak. He is quite good in several different dance forms like Jazz, Hip hop, break, folk, salsa and contemporary and won two medals at the national ballroom dancing championship. He was last seen in International film Avant Garde Pythagoras Sharma which showcased at European and American film festivals.
After juggling with his modelling career, he made his debut in Bollywood with Haal-E-Dill (2008). His television debut came in 2012 when he shot to fame and became a household name by essaying the role of Aditya Kumar in Star Plus' superhit show, Pyaar Ka Dard Hai Meetha Meetha Pyara Pyara, from 2012-2014.
Thereafter, there has been no looking back for Nakuul. Subsequently he played Shivaay Singh Oberoi opposite Surbhi Chandna in Ishqbaaaz (Star Plus; 2016-2019). Mehta also appeared in the show's spin-off, Dil Boley Oberoi. Just like his previous show, it also gained high TRPs and established him as a leading actor in Indian Television Industry, and won him many awards and accolades. Now, after a break of 2 years, he is back on television in Balaji Telefilms' Bade Achhe Lagte Hain season 2, where he is essaying the role of Ram Kapoor opposite his former costar from PKDH, Disha Parmar.
Apart from doing daily soaps, he has also hosted India's Got Talent (2014) along with Bharti Singh, and starred in the web-series I Don't Watch TV, which is a satire on the Indian television industry published on the platform Arre produced by Timbuktu Films in 2014. Then, he went on to play the main role of Sumer Singh Dhillon in the Zee5 webseries, Never Kiss Your Bestfriend (Jan 2020), opposite Anya Singh. He also appeared in short film called Ved and Arya in March 2020 , where he played character Ved opposite Sanaya Irani. He recently did an album on 12 poems named Poems For Democracy in collaboration with Ajay Singh and the same was released on Kommune, a platform for artists. He also took part in the web series named Zindagi in Short an anthology of seven stories in which he appeared on the third episode Sunny Side Upar as Vishal opposite Rima Kallingal which was first released on Flipkart Video and later on Netflix.
