For uploading directly from phone or desktop:

Step 1: Click on the 'Insert Image' icon (the icon second from right)

Step 2: Click on Upload Image.

Step 3: Choose the picture from your gallery and click Open.

But I think there's a problem. Whenever I'm clicking on tuat image icon, it's showing me some url box, and is inserting an empty image icon in the post...can you help with that?

So I think it's basically not showing me the option to upload an image, but just to put from an online source.

Ah! I've had that issue as well. Try uploading the pic to a site like imgur or postimages for example and then using the link to post the photo.
