I think our expectation of a Hero is that of a Hero from most romance novels. So when we see someone like Ram we find it difficult to accept. He is searching for perfection that he yearns to have, but at heart is a very simple uncomplicated person. As a young individual he would have wanted money , house and a happy and health family and that too a large one. Since he didnt have it , what he did was brought in his extended family members to his house. He knows its the money that has got him all this and he doesnt mind as long as he has people around. He is scared of being lonely .
But I doubt if he is a bad person. Because he is able to sense Priya's pain. In fact he is not convinced of what Yuvi said but he gave in to his friends happiness. Another good quality is that he is happy to have a wife who is a professional. He respects his girl friends career path. He wants people around him to be happy and doing what they wish to do. Reality of life isnt as simple as Ram wants it to be . People with different needs always find it difficult to live together. I really liked the way they show Ram tangled between his mom's needs vs his to be wife's needs. In most cases majority of married men would have gone through this situation at least once in their life time.
In stories like these there are no absolute negative characters. The negativity comes because of the conflict of each character's need/aspirations in life. To be honest , heart and soul of this story is the different shades of Priya and Ram's character. Both Nakul and Disha does absolute justice to the role they have got.
