Sony TV rejigs primetime for new shows Jan 17, 2009 03:22 PM| Read / Post comments |
Sony Entertainment Television Asia is tweaking its primetime schedule in February to make way for original programming. Starting from Monday 2nd February, the channel is shifting its 15-minute evening news capsule from the 19:15 slot to 18:45, the first time out of primetime in years. The reason behind the change is down to the channel introducing further original entertainment shows in the all-important primetime slot (19:00 - 22:30). Dance reality show 'Kabhie Kabhie Yaar Kabhie Kabhie Pyar' will take the Monday to Thursday 19:00 slot. Spin-off show 'Indian Idol Cutdown' and 'View Asia' will air in the same slot on Fridays. Weekday evening drama 'Babul Ka Aangann Chootey Na' is coming to an end on Thursday 5th February to be replaced with a new family social 'Suhaagan'. The drama is a love story about a poor flower seller who falls in love with a millionaire, who she saves from the Ganges. 'Suhaagan' starts on Monday 9th February at 21:30. ZEE TV has recently followed a similar move by extending its original ouput during weeknights starting at 17:00 until 23:30. STAR Plus has also a similar concept in place with original shows beginning at 18:30 each weeknight. |
