New Delhi, March 17 – You would have heard cases of bogus brides marrying eligible groomsand fleeing with their money. Now, gear up to witness something similar on Imagine TV's new show 'Luteri Dulhan'.
'Production house Bag Films came up to us with this interesting concept and revealed that there is a gang in Haryana whose work is to dupe grooms and run away with all their money after the marriage and police is on the look out,' Saurabh Tiwari, Imagine's head of programming (Fiction) told IANS.
'When we did our research, we came to know that seven to eight such gangs operate in places like Rajasthan and Haryana,' said Tiwari.
'Luteri Dulhan' about Billo, a young girl adopted by a Haryanvi family, who position themselves as sari traders from Uttar Pradesh but whose real business is to con 70-plus men who want to marry young girls and then flee with their valuables.
Billo is used by the family as a bait to charm the oldies.
'It's a family drama but the overall treatment is very dramatic and light-hearted. It's not like daily soaps,' Tiwari said.
He said the plot may be inspired by real-life incidents, but the premise of the show is fictitious.
'The show has real life characters and backdrop but the premise is fictitious. We did our research in the areas where these gangs operate, what kind of people they are, their psyche and what exactly a girl goes through who has already married so many men.'
'Luteri Dulhan' goes on air March 28 and stars Krishna Gokani of 'Humari Devrani' fame as the protagonist. It also features Smita Singh, Yajuvendra Singh, Bharti Khandare and Sitaram Panchal in prominent roles.
