CHAPTER 1
Shravan was getting ready to the office...A strapping lad of 24, he was handsome, calm and composed always...A qualified civil engineer, from IIT Delhi, he had also done a masters degree in structural engineering...Not only was he highly qualified but he was simply brilliant in the execution of all the projects assigned to him...After all he was working for a very reputed firm Ahuja & Co, a topnotch name in the construction business in India...
In a short span of just under 2 years shravan had built a name for himself and for his mentor and the CEO of the company, Mr.Ganesh Ahuja...The firm was into building malls, residential complexes, townships and other commercial buildings, all along the NCR(national capital region; comprising Delhi, Noida and Gurgaon)...
Today he had been assigned the task of planning a completely new project... A multimillionaire wanted an exclusive residential house to be built on the Mehruli- Gurgaon road in a property spanning of about 50 acres of verdant grounds... So he needed to be at his good best, when he and his mentor cum Boss meet the rich Businessman...Thinking and mentally making a check list of all the things he had to take for the presentation, Shravan was given a rude poke from his Naani, waking him from his reverie...
His Naani was chanting the Madhura ashtak, a divine praise about Lord Sri Krishna, and going about her morning prayers...She always insisted her dear grandson say his prayers before, leaving the house for his work...Shravan tried to oblige her as much as possible...His widowed mother, Nalini, served him a simple breakfast of oatmeal porridge, which he ate with relish...
Shravan's late father Gurunath Jaiswal, was an honest businessman, who had dealt in Automobile spare parts and Secondhand car dealerships...It was flourishing well and the family was prosperous, living a reasonably lavish lifestyle...But then disaster struck, a bad consignment of spurious parts and a sliding share market saw all their wealth get eroded quickly...In the blink of an eye all their money got depleted in the form of paying off and settling their debts...Their sprawling house in Edwin Lutyen's Delhi's posh address at Malviya nagar was sold of along with the sweet memories of a happy family...
This modest house was in Greater Kailash 1 area and thankfully in Naani's name was all that was left to them...His father never recovered from the shock and one night just passed away in his sleep, leaving the burden of looking after the family on the young shoulders of Shravan, then aged only16...His mother and the ever enterprising Naani somehow kept the home fires burning and managed to educate Shravan further, by cooking meals and supplying them to Bachelors and other office goers whose family was far away...It was now a very close knit family of the three, bound with more love and affection after the calamity...
Many a good Samaritans chipped in when the need was greater...One such person was Mr. Ganesh Ahuja, who had offered scholarship to Shravan, so that he could complete his school, college and join his own firm...For Shravan he was more a fatherly figure, with whom he could confide and discuss even his personal problems...Somehow the family bounced back, both mentally and financially and today Shravan had earned a good reputation of being an excellent builder, all thanks to his hard work and dedication...
Today he was to meet an up and coming Architect and interior designer, Ms. Saachi Sharma, who was personally chosen by the multimillionaire...All further discussions and planning for the house will have to be done along with her... He had vaguely heard about her achievements in such a short span of time...So he was all the more eager to see her in person...He left for the office...
