The character of the adorable Rosesh Sarabhai of Sarabhai V/S Sarabhai has
become a huge hit. And actor Rajesh Kumar is basking in his newfound glory. As he takes us around his new Jogeshwari apartment, with wife Madhvi in tow, he convinces us that he's far from his floppy screen persona

1. SPACE CRUNCH
The couple moved into their brand new home three months ago. "I still have great difficulty coping with Rajesh's messiness," wails Madhvi. She also wants to wish away her husband's habit of waking up late every morning. When they're not squabbling about these trivialities, Rajesh and Madhvi read and watch films together.

2. TO EACH THEIR OWN
It's unbelievable that we've been married for two years," he sighs. But just like any couple, Rajesh and Madhavi, too, have their tiffs. "She likes our bedroom to be spic and span and is forever threatening me to keep order or else...," says Rajesh. But what really annoys him is her complaint that his laptop receives more attention than she does.

3. THAT'S THE SPIRIT
They love having people over for dinner. And no party is complete without a bar. Rajesh and Madhvi have designed this unit together. "We wanted a bar with enough space for crockery," says Rajesh. But there's still work to be done, they say – some fine glasses and a few more bottles of wine are on the list.

4. COOKING UP A STORM
'No meat in the Kumar household' is the rule. "We're not vegetarians; we relish fish, but only in restaurants," says Rajesh. "Rajesh makes the best rotis," Madhvi swears. "Madhvi can make the best dals and mixed vegetables," Rajesh chips in. So the best meals are prepared on Sundays, when the two cook the day's meals together.

5. GOD OF BIG THINGS

Rajesh has been collecting Ganesha idols for a year. His fascination for them comes from Madhvi's staunch belief in God. "She is great Ganesh bhakt," he says, indicating the special section created for the collection. Rajesh presently owns 50-odd idols picked up from various parts of the country.

• The worst part about being an actor, according to him, is the 'early morning shifts'.
• Contrary to belief, he was never shy about his marriage; people wrote about it only after he shot to fame.
• He recently shot a pilot episode with former Miss World Yukta Mookhey.
• He has been a national basketball player.
• He isn't as funny in person as his screen image. But he does have a good sense of humour.
