Dolly Minhas makes an entry in Baa Bahu Aur Baby
The second season of Baa Bahu Aur Baby kicked off on the weekend with few new faces, and featuring Dolly Minhas as Birj's Taima, who will create problems for Baby.
Dolly says her character has grey shades to it. "I am playing Taima, an NRI woman, who is very strong and practical. She is a modern woman with strong roots. She speaks her mind. A lot of people will think she is negative but they will also come to know that she adores Birju. She makes him realise what is right and what is wrong," she says. "Further along the story, Baby too will start believing that Taima is right and will give her respect. Taima is hard to impress." Dolly admits she has apprehensions about her role. "I don't know what people are going to say about me. I am getting butterflies in my stomach.
Dolly, who started out in films, has been doing TV shows for seven-eight years. Her last show was Grihasthi, in which she played a character with negative shades. She says it was overwhelming for her to join a hit show. "It was a very big opportunity. I knew that this character was going to be very important. Aatish (the show's director) had explained it to me. It's a fabulous character and it is good to perform with established actors. It is difficult to break into a certain group but a privilege to work with them." Dolly adds, "The entire team is fun. We shoot less and have fun more. It is wonderful to work here. I have worked with most of the actors before. It takes time to acclimatise to a new environment; luckily, it didn't take much time here."
Dolly thinks her entry scene was the most memorable for her as it starts off in a nice way and has lots of twists – a tu tu main main kind of scene between her and Sarita Joshi (Baa). "We had very interesting scenes. JD Majethia said he got goose bumps watching our scenes. She is a talent and an icon in her own right but she never made me feel like that. She cracks jokes and puts you at ease."
The actress admits that she hadn't watched Baa Bahu Aur Baby before this. "It was difficult to follow it because of my busy schedule. But my mother-in-law, who lives in Pune, was delighted when I told her. Once, when I told her about a scene with Minakshi, she said, 'Arre, woh bechari hamesha roti rehti hai'.
