Simmer till done

Having waited for two years for the perfect script, producer JD Majethia is set to take the film version of Khichdi on floors

Khichdi

The TV serial Khichdi has been regaling fans with the antics of their characters for years now. Finally, two years after announcing the film adaptation of Khichdi, producer JD Majethia is set to start shooting it. The makers of the film wanted to freeze on the perfect script before going ahead with the film. The shooting begins in September and the cast for the film is set too.

JD says, "Yes, Khichdi will finally go on the floors next month. We had a quiet mahurat on Sunday evening with family and a few friends. We have finalised all the locations and our cast of course, was always in place. The cast for the film is the same as the serial, barring one person. But we are working on that too. We wanted to be totally sure about the script… That explains the two-year gap after announcing the film and actually taking it on the floors."

JD adds, "Aatish Kapadia has come up with a brilliant script for the film, and he will be directing it too. We also have a couple of stars in mind who will play small, significant roles in the film, but we are yet to take the final call on that. The most important element of the script is the chemistry between our actors and we have retained that."

The Khichdi cast includes Anang Desai, Supriya Pathak, Vandana Pathak, Rajeev Mehta, Amit Varma and JD among others.
