Lubna: I can't give BBB my best anymore

Lubna Salim, seen as Leela Bhabhi in Baa Bahu Baby (STAR Plus), will not be a part of the show's second season which will commence from August. But the actress insists her decision to leave is "nothing personal". She just wants a break and is waiting for something exciting to come her way.

"IT is nothing personal; I just didn't feel like continuing further. I felt the need to move on. I've given Leela Bhabhi four years and now, even if I agree to continue, I know that I won't be able to give my best to the character. Leela Bhabhi is very close to my heart and I can't fake it. Frankly speaking, I was very tired and I wanted to go on a break," says Lubna.
And though the actress will no longer be a part of BBB, she'll always cherish her memories of the show. She tells us, "We used to spend 14 hours a day on the sets and we were like a family. I made some very good friends there like Paresh, Suchita, Aatish, JD and Sarita Ben. We'd all have lunch together and I'll miss that. What I'll miss the most though is the gujju culture, which is a lovely culture. I'm definitely going to follow the second season regularly."

The actress wrapped up with the show in March, after which she did two short films and a few commercials. She says, "After BBB, I finished with my movies and few ads and ever since, I've been on my holiday only. I might go to Pune and Bangalore now, and then I'll get back to work."

Lubna was recently seen on Specials@10 on Sony and is looking forward to more challenging roles. She says, "I really can't believe that big people like Madhur Bhandarkar approached me for Specials@10. I've done Ashok Pandit with Aashka Goradia, which was based on child abuse. I am looking to do characters where I get to showcase my talents."

The second season of Baa Bahu Baby will launch in August and the show will be a daily telecast on STAR Plus. The timeslot of the show remains undecided.

I think it is just ridiculous what she is saying ... she has one of the most important role in the show ... She has no respect for the Show ... what is Motabhai going to do now ....
This is not any other show ... casting is very very important in this show ... You cannot just replace the characters ..
Very Very Very Very Very Very Very Very Very Very disappointed

    Wah AVFAN ..........

aapne to mere man mein ek nai umang jaga di...

Yes...no fault of pro house.......Now I am also ready to see a replacement.......hope they find someone much better than Lubna and the show reach much higher than it was before........Then Lubna will realize her mistake.....I mean BBB gave her recognition and she dumped it...
and I dont understand why she is saying that she gave 4 years to the show...see a woman much older than her baa also has given 4 years...and even more taking eg of ekta's longest running soap.. sudha shivpuri gave 8 years to kyunki...as baa (in a daily show.......BBB was weekly)
i understand that she is tired.but who doesn't get tired...?

exactly...n she may have been valid agar prod house se koi problem hota ya doosre actors ke sath nahi banti....but leaving a show because its baring for is insulting her show and her fans. remember how Kiran Karmakar left Kahani Ghar Ghar Ki in a same way...and thn came bak getting nothing at all?

Excuse me. I'd like to differ.

Why else do you think Vaishali Thakkar opted out?
    Every actor has a head.
Having a strong and i mean, very strong theatre background, i think Lubna has the full right to take decisions and work better.

Would you continue in a job you are not satisfied with?
It is so convenient for you to sit at home and watch tv and get on with your lives. What happens to the actors and their lives, only a very few know.

Everyone has their reasons and their decisions. Shouldnt we rather be grateful to her for being one of the most sought after actors we have on Indian television???

Or have people still not understood the worth of a good actor?

I totally disagree with you ... agreed every person in this world has a right to work better .. but there is nothing better than Baa Bahu Baby .. tell me one show in our current tv scenarion which is better than BBB ..
Sometimes you have to think about others before yourself .. And when the others are the one who have given you all the Fame and popularity associated with Leela Bhabhi .. did she for once give any thoughts about Mota Bhai character .. he is totally going to be lost ... hers is a very pivotal character especially after the exit iof praveena ..
let us discuss other arguments which she has given ..
    1. I was doing the same thing .. rubbish .. leela bhabhi is a character ... it has to do the same thing ... it is one of the most strong, real, funny, interesting character in tv right now.Sometimes the challange is in doing the same thing and making it more interesting .. and the character is not just funny .. it has shades of emotions as well and so much more
    2. I was tired --- then ask the producers to shorten your role
all these TV actors shuld stop complaining about the lack of good roles in TV because when they get a good role .. they show no respect for it ...

I can agree with you on points like the length of the role and the variety it has to offer. She was good. And i mean, really good. The character had so many shades and according to me, was one of the best i had seen on Indian tv in a long time. I too have been an ardent follower of BBB. And this news breaks my heart too. But for how long are we going to carry this? I remember having cried my eyes out on Praveena's death. That too on the sacred day of Dusherra. I bet everyone who loves BBB cried that time.

Leela is a character. For many of us, she is embedded in our hearts forever. But then think about the woman for God's sake! She has a life. And learn to appreciate it.

She herself says that Leela brought her back to her audiences. But now she's looking at something better to offer.

And the fact that she has a strong theatre background and with the kind of calibre this woman has, i dont think there will be a dearth of roles offered to her.

    \m/ peace to all.

ps- btw, there Praveena's exit was more of a heart-attack-type shocker. Nobody ever pinpointed on her reasons to leave the show. Infact i bet everybody watches Utaran only to see their Praveena. Then why cant we simply accept this, and expect and hope something more faadoo than Leela.

And anyway, i bet the production house has enough sense to come up with a sensible reason for Leela's absense.
