Deadline for Rainbow Trivia is officially over. Wait for the results and the next round 🏃♀️
Hello all!
We are back with the answers for the Rainbow Trivia Challenge.
The game consists of 10 questions about LGBTQ+ history, culture, and important figures.
There'll be two points for each correct answer and no negative marking for incorrect/blank answers.
What does the acronym LGBTQAI+ stand for?
Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer/Questioning, Asexual, Intersex.
The additional “+” stands for all of the other identities not encompassed in the short acronym.
Most of you answered this one correctly.
One mark deducted if one of the interpretations is incorrect.
When was the first protest for gay and lesbian rights?
The first Annual Reminder demonstration took place on July 4, 1965 in Philadelphia, PA
April 17, 1965 is more famous for Anti-War Protests in Washington, D.C. to end the Vietnam war.
But full points are given for this answer because (a) it happened in the same year (b) Barbara Grittings, the same person, helped enlist activists from New York, Washington, D.C., and Philadelphia for the first public demonstrations for gay and lesbian equality in 1965.
Name a writer who wrote popular LGBTQ+ characters but is famously queerphobic.
J.K. Rowling. Her transphobic comments on X (formerly, Twitter) created an uproar. Popular LGBTQ+ characters (gay) written by her: Albus Dumbledore, Gellert Grindelwald.
Orson Scott Card is another accepted answer. While Orson Scott Card is not known to make any homophobic comments publicly, critics found homophobic subtexts in Card’s work. He wrote a kiss between Alai and Ender in Ender’s Game. The novel was adapted into a movie making the characters popular.
Other authors in the answers are also listed under queerphobic authors, but the queer characters written by them are either – not queer in clear terms (i.e. not explicitly mentioned in the story/by author) or not as much popular as the ones by the other two authors.
Hence, only one point for these answers.
When was homosexuality or non-normative sexual identity recognised as “tritiya prakriti” in India?
According to research by the Gay and Lesbian Vaishnava Association (GALVA), it was around 3102 B.C. (during the Vedic Age) that homosexuality or non-normative sexual identity was recognised as “tritiya prakriti”, or the third nature.
Name an LGBTQ+ figure without whom your computers wouldn't be the same; who in his life won the war but lost the battle.
Alan Turing
A machine designed by Alan Turing broke the Nazi ciphers which played a significant role in the Allies winning World War II. In March 1946, he made a detailed design for the Automatic Computing Engine (ACE.), which was a digital computer in the modern sense, storing programs in its memory.
He was convicted for homosexuality in 1952. Defined as a security risk, he was harassed by police surveillance. He died while in prison. Turing was granted a posthumous Royal pardon in 2013 for his conviction by the UK government.
What was the first European country to legalize same-sex marriage?
The Netherlands in 2001.
This year, which significant religious holiday coincided with which significant day for the LGBTQAI+ community?
This year, Christian holiday Easter coincided with the International Transgender Day of Visibility.

One mark deducted for only writing her name.

Brazil
What does the colour 'orange' represent in the Pride flag?
Healing
Hope you enjoyed this game!
Stay tuned to this thread for more details for other games. If you have any questions, feel free to ask on this thread.
Until next weekend!
Oh man! I got two answers wrong. Stupid Google and also my friend who belongs to the community.
Now, I shall go and rant to him and tell him that I got two answers wrong because of him.
Awesome 🌈
I have a quick question- I wanted to say JK Rowling but didn't coz isn't it was confirmed by her outside the books/movies that Dumbledore is gay. Through out the Saga it was always hinted and not explicitly stated I believe unless ofcourse I am forgetting some parts of the book.
Overall this is a good initiative quite insightful 👌🏻👌🏻
