Bindiya chamkegi

Garima Sharma

If you thought that Bollywood has the copyright over all things bizarre, then you sure havent been watching much television. The realm of the nonsense
extends quite easily to the small
screen, and its time we celebrate the madness of teledom,or as we call it,teledumb.Do you think actresses in serials take the meaning of nautanki to another level by going to sleep completely bedecked We think they face serious competition from the vamps, who use ludicrously loud make-up to redefine the meaning of deadly. The formula is pretty simple outfits (often sleeveless, offshoulder or with deep necklines) are paired with gold jewellery weighing a couple of kgs,and the look is enhanced with garish make-up ! And the cherry, rather literally,on the pancake face is the bindi.Remember Sudha Chandran as the conniving Ramola Sikand from Kaahin Kissii Roz Her bindis snake, danger sign with the skull and bones, and even a trident were symbolic of her evil character.Shed once said,I realised that the character was becoming a style icon... The trademark long bindi was a fashion tip I picked up from my mother. But,little did Sudha know her bindis would create a completely new identity for our onscreen vamps.Did someone say being evil is all in the (fore)head

KABOOTRI MAI IN ARMAANO KA BALIDAAN

Dolly, you dont need looks to kill. Then why do you need the trident on your forehead

RAMOLA SIKAND IN KAAHIN KISSII ROZ

The original bindi diva,Sudha Chandrans bindis bordered on the bizarre. Were you endorsing the Skulls and Bones cult

KOMOLIKA IN KASAUTII ZINDAGII KAY

Urvashi Dholakia, who played Komolika, was all about skin and sin show in this daily serial

MALTI IN SAPNA BABUL KA BIDAAI

Ashita Dhawan aka Maltis dressing was over-the-top in Bidaai and audiences had to endure her for years together.

JIGYASA IN KASAMH SE

>> Your name makes us curious about your choice of jewellery,Ashwini.Did you raid someones wedding trousseau

SINDOORA IN BANOO MAIN TERI DULHAN

>> Did they name you thus,Kamya,to justify the loud looks,or did you dress so jhintak so it justified your name Either way, keep the kids away folks!

HEAD COUNT

These vamps have never shied away from experimenting with their bindis. Can we burn their look books
