Jyoti' to be replaced by 'Armaanon ka Balidaan Arakshan'

Popular soap 'Jyoti', about a strong, independent woman, who took on the responsibility of being the sole earning member of the house, will go off the air and a new show called 'Armaanon ka Balidaan Arakshan' will replace it on Imagine TV from Nov 29.

Launched in 2009, 'Jyoti' became one of the best known shows on the channel, which now wants to give it a logical end and the last episode will be telecast Nov 26.

"'Jyoti' has done very well for us. However, all good things must come to an end and we would like the show to come to a logical conclusion while it is still popular," Saurabh Tewari, head of fiction, Imagine TV, said in a press statement.

Actress Sneha Wagh, who plays the lead role in the show, said: "For the last two years, I have lived and breathed this character, so Jyoti will always be very special to me. I will definitely miss being on the sets. However, I am happy that 'Jyoti' was a successful show."

Nikhil Madhok, marketing and communication head, Imagine, says the show became popular "due to the determination and self belief" of the lead character.

"As opposed to most other female characters on TV, Jyoti was always portrayed as a strong woman, with her own point of view. Jyoti stood up against domestic violence as well as furthered the cause of education for women.

"More importantly, she has done this not only in the reel world but also in the real world by becoming the brand ambassador for the Bell Bajao campaign against domestic violence, as well as through the Jyoti Foundation for educating women. That's what made her an inspirational figure for young women," added Madhok.

the sentences i've highlighted, doesn't sound weird???πŸ˜•.....especially ''strong women'',''her own point of view'', has she even been strong in front of Padma(in the beginning), CM,Brij, etc. but just acted like a doormat... n what her own point of view??..she is just always stuck in different kinds of delimmas 😑Angry......better its ending..can't bear it any more....!!

That's exactly what I was thinking - was IANS watching the same serial we were, or just something that Sphere Origins fed them?

The ones you've highlighted need no comment, but one that struck me that Pia had highlighted - standing against domestic violence against women - really stood out. I mean, yeah, she yanked Sushma from Brij, but in the real world, one major problem women have is when they return to their hubbies/boyfriends on promises of better behavior, which don't materialize. Had Jyoti been a real champion, she'd have supported Sushma in her decision to adopt out her baby and continue her education, instead of blackmailing her into re-marrying Brij, of all people.

And I didn't get - what exactly did Sushma gain w/ that education/scholarship, when just b4 the exams, when Brij was discovered as contrite and suffering, Jyoti asked him to marry Sushma? And once she was married, Kabir gave Brij a job @ his workplace, so that Sushma wouldn't have to do a thing. Didn't get the point of any of that - it was making sense while Brij was still in jail & Sushma was on the mend, but not after.

Yeah, Jyoti was strong when she was standing up for others, like Sudha, Sushma, Reshmi, Asha et al, but never for herself. In other words, "Do as I say, but not as I do". Just wonder whether Jyoti would have advised another woman in her place, such as Ritu (remember her?) to have her ex-hubby's baby. Cognitive dissonance would have done this aurat a world of good.

I agree to you to some extent . But Jyoti was never physically abused , She was mentally many times. She never fought for her own self . She is a sacrificing soul. I guess the writer has made the blunder . Jyoti has been shown as a strong woman for some issues and dumb sacrifice woman for issues which were related with her own self. But one thing is clear they highlighted Domestic Violence issue quite brilliantly . specially with Bell Bjao . I can not remember before this show when this kind of campaign has been done through a TV show .

i agree wid u pia completely and as u told vrisha dat she raised her voice against injustice on rashmi, sushma, asha but 4got about herself wasnt this the tagline of the show and a saying as well there is darkness beneath every lamp i really liked her when she put her foot down and didn't go 4 a DNA test just 2 prove her fidelity 2 pankaj, after her divorce wid pankaj she continued 2 work when the world was talking sh**t abt her instead of sobbing, she had the courage 2 face the world when ppl were raising questions on her character of course wid the help of kabir, she married the person of her choice rejecting pankaj's proposal yes after lot of mental dilemma but every person has 2 face some dilemmas however strong he or she is.i think she lived upto her character till the time she married kabir bcoz kabir was a person who stood by her firmly except the present roshni track i dont think i disliked ne thing abt 'jyoti' she deserves this applauseπŸ‘ πŸ‘πŸ‘

Pia I think the story of Jyoti was unique in its kind ,very fresh start with new and strong story ,a young girl who wanted everything for her family except herself ,she was ready for any sacrifice ,thinking about everybody.so all of us know what happened next up to now,as a regular and loyal viewer of Jyoti I protest about the ending of this serial ,the return of Pankaj and Roshani was absolutely unncessary and the CV's drag this monotonous track for more than two months , Jyoti always raise her voice against injustice for others and always silent for herself ,just in tonight's episode she told Pankaj that he crossed his limit ,she might have tell him that he (Pankaj)should go to his hometown Udaipur and never return again instead of constant calling her and hurting Kabir. So sad for me that the storyline goes this way .I try to be optimism but it seems Jyoti will never come to a logical conclusion since Cv's completely ruin the serial in past two months. It could be a memorable and frogetable one but ...........Hope at least it has happy ending.
