Subscribe to Newsletter Ajay Krish hot to fame with his performance in Mamta. The actor who plays Priyam in Zee's lavish Ardhangani is impressed with his co star Sudeepa Singh. He is eying Bollywood and plans to make a move when Ardhangini is over. The actor chats about his show and future plans.
Are you happy with the response your new show has received so far?It is a fantastic show. The budget is very high, and the sets look lavish. Since it is aired at 11 pm, the viewership was not all that great. However, the TRPs have increased since then.
How close is the character to your real self?Priyam, the character I play, waits 14 years to reunite with his love. There is a lot of passion in the relationship. I am a very romantic person, so this aspect of his is a lot like me.

How did you bag this role?I had worked in Mamta, and I became a known face, whose work was appreciated. Mamta was coming to an end, and the creative from Zee called me for this role. I auditioned, and got the role immediately.
What was it like to work with Sudeepa Singh?I did not know her before this serial. However, once we started working together, I realized that she is a fantastic person. Our onscreen chemistry is good, and it shows. Both of us are working hard for this show. We even shot for 72 hours at a stretch once.
You seem to have hectic shooting schedulesSince we are trying to make this show a hit, we shoot like a film. There is a lot of creativity involved in every scene that we shoot. And it is a daily soap.
What do you do in your spare time?I hardly get any spare time! The most I get is a three-hour off, and that is the time I sleep. When I get some more time off, I like to play with my two dogs, or spend some time with my friends.
What is the one thing that you would want to change in Indian television?The lack of discipline. If the pre- and post production work is planned and executed properly, we would not have to work like mules. Our schedules become so erratic and hectic.
Any film plans?Of course, but only after I am done with Ardhangani. This will be my last serial, unless, of course, I do not get any film offers at all. I will take a few months off from television and try my luck.
It is said that your acting is a lot like that of Shahrukh Khan.Nothing like that. I am nowhere near the Badshah of Bollywood. Since Ardhangini is based on Devdas, comparisons are inevitable. I tried to incorporate some of SRK's body language from his character in Devdas, but there is nothing wrong in learning from your seniors.
