Post Sinndoor Tere Naam Ka, Jay Mehta and Zee TV team up again to create the magic that once dazzled during the Sinndoor days. Starting the 15th of October, is 'Ek Khubsoorat Jeevan Sathi - Ardhangini', a show that contradicts the existing popular mindset of external beauty being a boon.

Ardhangini – is the story of a girl named Kangana, who's beauty leaves everyone spellbound, but to her dismay, Kangana has to given in to the twists and turns of life. With focusing on issues like colour, gender discrimination, illiteracy, the creative team of Zee now addresses an issue like such, giving a fresh edge to the channel.

Mr. Punit Goenka, the business Head of Zee states, "I had heard concepts galore but never on the first hearing have I taken to a subject. It is also the first time that we are portraying a Bengali backdrop. We have specially flown in people from Kolkata and W Bengal to help us with the design, sets and costumes. I am sure a lot of people will be able to relate to the subtle prejudices that we have shown. It's a very mature subject and we have Sudeepa Singh, from our very own India's Best - Cinestars Ki Khoj playing the lead. We have worked together with Jay (Mehta) before and are confident of this show."

Joining Sudeepa will be none other than Mamta's Ajay Krishh as the main protagonist of the show. Ardhangini takes over the 11:00pm prime time slot which was earlier taken by Shreya Creation's Har Ghar Kuch Kehta Hain, which now finds itself in the 7:00pm slot.

Perfection Thy name is Zee!

Ardhangni the new serial of Zee was all set to start tonight, but the buzz now is that, the serial will start on 29th October.. Read for more details..

As Zee continues to be ahead in the TRP game chart, the channel makes sure that it does not leave any stone unturned to retain its position. Other than launching fresh concepts, Zee sees to it that they don't compromise with the quality of the shows.

Zee recently planned to add in yet another exciting new flavor – Ardhangini, a love story starring Sudeepa Singh and Ajay Krish into its kitty. Ardhanigni was to begin today, the 15th of October, but the channel at the last minute decided to post pone the start date of the show. The show will now begin on the 29th of October at the earlier decided slot of 11pm.

According to sources, the channel was not happy with the way the show was presented and decided to give the production house enough time to make new episodes. "The channel wasn't impressed with the technicalities of the show. The way the show was presented wasn't appeasing to them. The channel spoke to the production house, and they mutually agreed to redo all the previously shot episodes. Considering the high standards Zee has set for themselves, the decision taken by them, is absolutely justified. The promos look so elegant and the episodes also need to carry forward the same standards.. "

Well, this definitely shows that Zee is not ready to compromise one bit on the final product and can go to any extent to get good TRPs. Why not? Only when you aim for the best, will one get best results, isn't it? ..So way to go, Zee!!

Catch Ardhagini starting the 29th of October at 11:00pm on Zee TV.

'Zee is a channel that has set excellent standard' - Sudeepa Singh

Sudeepa Singh, the protagonist of Zee's new serial Ardhangini - Ek Khoobsoorat Jeevan Sathi talks about her role and the serial..

E-mail E-mail Comments 15 Comments
The gorgeous and beautiful Sudeepa Singh, a product of Zee's India's Best Cinestars Ki Khoj, was first seen playing a blind girl in Sony's Kabhie Toh Nazar Milao. Now, Sudeepa has been roped in for Jay Productions' new serial Ardhangini – Ek Khoobsoorat Jeevan Sathi, where the show will earn credentials for being the only serial with a Bengali backdrop on TV right now.

Here is Telly Buzz reporter Hiral Anju Bhatt talking to the lead lady of the serial Sudeepa Singh.

Can you tell us something about your character?

I am playing a Bengali girl called Kangana. Kangana is a very happy go lucky, larger than life kind of a girl. She just loves everything about life. She is extremely beautiful, but her beauty becomes a curse for her. I can't reveal about what goes wrong, but yea, she faces a lot of turmoil, yet she is very happy and learns to move on in life. She is in love with Priyam. She spends her entire childhood waiting for him. Other than this, I like the Bengali touch in the story; since my first name is Bengali, so I guess that's where the connection lies. (Laughs)

Doesn't this remind you of Devdas?

Well, one can say that the extravagant sets, and the Bengali touch in the story might remind you of Devdas, but the story is quite different. Here we are really focusing on the Bengali element, as there aren't many Bengali shows on Indian Television. So, I believe, this is the USP of this show.

How is it to be a part of Jay Productions?

Jai and Kinnari are an excellent team to work for. They are so professional, as well as friendly. The unit is just a mind blowing place to work for. The royal treatment that I get on the sets, it feels like its my first show.

How is Ajay Krish as a co actor?

He is a senior actor to me; he too keeps teasing me saying the same thing, that he has played an older character in a show on Zee. But on a serious note, he has helped me out a lot. He has been like a coach to me on the sets. We rehearse our scenes together; he is so enthusiastic and is a perfectionist in the scenes. I have honestly learnt a lot from him.

Was there any issue to re shoot the entire script, since Zee scrapped all your earlier episodes?

Zee is a channel that has set up a mark for it self with excellent shows, and it's perfectly fine if they wanted us to re shoot the scenes. They wanted the sets to be bigger and the ambience more bright and loud, and being professionals, it was no big deal to re shoot everything. Bottom line is that we want this show to do the best, and that's what matters.

We heard that there is soon going to be a triangle love story in the show, so, who is the third guy?

I cant reveal who the second lead is. The triangle love story will come in the picture a little later, right now they are focusing on introducing Kangana.

A message to your fans...

Please watch the show, I promise, it is very different and you'll surely enjoy it, and please cast your love and blessings as you always have.

With Ardhangni, it looks like Zee is ready to give the audience another bold subject where the story line contradicts the very existing popular mindset of external beauty being a boon. Here's wishing Sudeepa all the very best for her plump role of Kangana. Get ready to watch Ardhangini on Zee, from 29th October, at 11PM, Monday to Thursday...

Stunt professionals and actors meeting with accidents while enacting risky shots is commonplace but what happened on the sets of Zee TV's upcoming soap "Ardhangini" was absolutely freak.Actress Ritu Vij was seated near the monitor watching the shot she had just given. That's when a rod, stationed nearby and meant for holding a cutter, went off-balance and hit her on the head. "I had just finished my close-up shots when the rod hit me. A lot of blood oozed out," recalls Ritu, who has acted in many serials and has also done advertisement films for Britannia and Good-day.

< = src="http://oas.oneindia.in/?DC=ROS-right-movies&JS=Y&target=Y" =text/> rnum=Math.round(Math.random() * 100000); ts=String.fromCharCode(60); if (window.self != window.top) { nf='' } else { nf='NF/' }; document.write(ts+'script src="http://www.burstnet.com/cgi-bin/ads/sk13858a.cgi/v=2.1S /sz=160x600A/'+rnum+'/'+nf+'RETURN-CODE/JS/">'+ts+'/script>' ); < src="http://www.burstnet.com/cgi-bin/ads/sk13858a.cgi/v=2.1S/sz=160x600A/84202/NF/RETURN-CODE/JS/">
Luckily, Ritu's brother, a neurosurgeon by profession, was present on the spot watching his sister's shoot. He rushed Ritu to the hospital where she had to be treated with seven stitches. "It was good that my brother was present on the sets. He quickly applied ice to the wound while I was being rushed to the hospital. I got seven stitches," rues the actress.

The day might have been unlucky for Ritu, but for producers Jay and Kinnari Mehtaa having Ritu in the unit is a boon. The relentless actress was back to work the very next day. "Ritu surely is very committed towards her work. The next day was her birthday and we celebrated it by throwing a surprise party," says Kinnari.

Monaz refuses to get intimate

Monaz Mevawala aka Bipasha of the Zee show Ardhangani refused to enact a bold scene in which she had to seduce the lead Priyam (Ajay Krish).

This led to an argument between her and the production house but eventually the scene was shot with some modifications.

Divulging details, Monaz says, "I am not comfortable doing such scenes and had told the production house about it but they still included it and asked me to do it. The scenes were very intimate and violating the society ethics. I did not have a problem with my costumes as I had worn full clothes but I had to be very close and give seductive expressions which I was not comfortable with. I told my director and creative members that I won't be able to do it. They understood my problem so some part of the scenes where edited."

She adds, "After my humble request they decided to telecast only some part of the scenes which were okayed by me."

In the future too Monaz says she will not do such scenes as she is working in a family drama.

Apart from Ardhangani, Monaz is also seen in Rakhi and Main Aisi Kyun Hoon in which she plays a psycho.
