Karthikka,
I do not know how suntv can display bad people in such depth and people silently accept these characters and say nothing. That the law does not know such people exist, or it is normal to be so criminal in society. In no suntv serial are children accepted and have normal lives. Every one of them are adult shows, that give importance to how elders think and that is the right way of thinking. Kalai had an extremely abnormal life as a daughter in law and then a daughter. At least cant the producers put an end to her child's misery?
I do accept that what serials portray are bad, abnormal, etc. but, tell me which serial nowadays has really a good theme and a storyline. even if they have a good story/concept it starts of very nice and end up all messed up. I have now come to the point of seeing a serial just a few very good actors/actresses. I use to tell my husband (who has completely stopped watching) to just watch for time pass and forget about this serial as your own life itself. that would give us misery. as soon as the tv is switched off, our minds should also switch to other important things in life. am trying that myself, thats how distant we should keep ourselves.
If you ask the serial makers, they would say, all people wanted to see abnormal things, over-the-top performances and melodrama - which is true to some extent. we are perceiving things because we are educated and informed. we want to think rationally and be positive, but thats not so to ordinary people back in India. they want to see things thats not present under normal cirucumstances, they want melo-drama in the name of acting .
i hope am portraying only my opinion here, am not categorising or generalising all of the serial watchers.
Viji
