AFAIK, boti is small piece of meat. Not sure if marathM dialect has that word. But I think Siddhant used to call Shivani chhoti-boti coz she was small/short/cute ?

* Delhi, 2016 *

Inside DCP Batra's cabin an heated argument was going on between two police officers over a recent accident case.

"Sir mujhe pura yakin hai ye highway accident case normal nahi hai. Kai logon ne isse pehle bhi wahan raat me ek ladki ko dekha hai."

"Sir aap sun rahe hai ye kya keh rahi hai? Ab hum sab chhod ke bhooton ko pakadne lage kya? IPS ka full form kabse Indian Pagal Service ho gaya?" Shivani reacted, looking dismissively at her subordinate and junior ASP Aditi Sharma.

"Mere pass proof hai sir." Aditi forwarded some files on DCPs desk. And he had a look at them.

"Baat to sach hai, logon ne isse pehle bhi wahan ek ladki ko dekha hai. Ab mujhe ye nahi pata ke wo bhoot Hai ya insaan. Ye tum dono ka Kam Hai pata lagana."

"Lekin sir!" Shivani tried protesting.

"Dekho Shivani, investigation ke waqt tumhe har lead check karni hogi. Aur Mei Aditi ke track record ko janta hu, uski intuition kabhi galat nahi hoti. You may leave now."

Shivani left the room, with Aditi in tow. After coming out she turned towards her,

"To age Kya karna Hai ASP?"

"Mujhe lagta hai hume us victim ke gharwaalon se baat karni hogi."

During the investigation, Aditi and Shivani find out that a girl named Madhuri had gone missing from the highway a few years back while coming home at night. She never reached home or ever made contact with anyone. They were going through some missing person files when Aditi spotted something,

"Ma'am, ye dekhiye. Madhuri ko akhri baar ek rikshaw me baithte hue dekha gaya tha. Mujhe lagta hai jaroorat uske gayab hone ke picche us rikshaw driver ka hath hoga." Aditi said as she showed shivani the file.

"Hmm.. aur isiliye wo rikshaw drivers ko hi target kar rahi hai." Shivani agreed.

They dig more and find out who the rickshaw driver was. He had now setup a transport business of his own. Shivani decides to keep an eye on the man while Aditi decides to visit the crime scene one more time.

At night, Shivani was waiting outside the man's office when he comes out and get in his car and starts driving. Shivani follows him and when she realizes they were heading towards the highway, she tries calling Aditi but her phone is unreachable.

At the crime scene, Aditi was walking through the trees besides the road. She had hope that she will find something. Her paranormal senses were never wrong.

"Madhuri! Mei janti hu tum yehi ho. Dekho mei tumhari madad karne aayi hu." She tried calling out to God knows who.

Suddenly she heard a car coming to a screeching halt. Aditi ran towards the source of the noise.

While shivani was following the man's car, she saw it come to a halt just near the crime scene. A girl dressed in yellow sari was standing by the road, she looked at Shivani and smiled. For some reason, that smile sent a chill down shivani's spine. The man got out of the car and followed the girl into the jungle. Shivani followed them too. Once inside the jungle she heard Aditi's voice. She was talking with someone. Shivani followed the voice and she was surprised to see the scene before her eyes. The man who she was just following, was hanging mid air and Aditi was telling someone on the other side to let him go, but she couldn't see anyone. Shivani's police instincts cicked in and she aimed her gun at no one.

"Aditi! Tum kisse baat kar rahi ho?"

"Ma'am please. Madhuri please Meri baat mano, mei tumse wada karti hu ke mei tumhare katil ko saza dilwakar rahungi. Kanoon tumhari madad jaroor karega." Aditi continued talking with the invisible thing.

The man was suddenly dropped to the ground and Aditi didn't waste anytime before handcuffing him. She narrated the entire tale to Shivani next, she told her that Madhuri was killed by that man and buried here. All these years her ghost had been looking for her murderer. Shivani found it difficult to accept because she hadn't seen the ghost. She was still looking for the girl whom she saw with the man. A backup team was called to dig the ground to find Madhuri's dead body. When they found the remains of a human dead body covered in a sari, Shivani was shocked. She recognized the sari.

Aditi saw that shivani's face had gone pale, she came and stood next to her,

"Apko bhi dikhi thi na Madhuri?"

Shivani turned towards aditi, shock still evident on her face. So Aditi continued,

"Kuchh chizen Anjaan hoti hai ma'am. Unka hum koi explanation nahi de sakte."

The case was later closed as the man had confessed all his crimes. But over the time, as Shivani and Aditi began to solve more and more cases together they had build a strong friendship. It was still difficult for her to accept the unnatural but she entertained the possibility that they might exist.

"THUD!!"

Shivani came out of her trance when she heard a sound of something falling behind her. But before she could turn her head, she was automatically picked from her seat and thrown at the opposite wall. Shivani hit her head hard, before she lost consciousness she heard 2 things, her bones crackling and a strange laugh.
