Shivani woke up in a hospital bed, she looked around and tried getting up but her entire body hurt. She heard a beeping sound and a familiar voice telling her to rest. The morphine was talking effect and soon she fell asleep again.
Next time when Shivani woke up, it was 48 hours later and alot had happened in this time. Vikrant had faught with Suresh Dutt to let him investigate the case further. He was convinced that it was vanraj who had attacked Shivani. Suresh had informed him about Shaitan chauki, that had all the files of unsolved cases and almost every second case had mentions of vanraj in it.
Vikrant paid a visit to Shaitan chauki, it was an old dusty place looked like no one had been there in many years. While he was looking around the chauki, he found the old evidence room with heaps of unsolved case files. He started sifting through the files, when his eyes fell on one particular file. He picked up that file and dusted it. Before he could open it, his phone rang.
"Sir, shivani ma'am ko hosh aa gaya hai."
Vikrant took the file with him and tossed it in his car before he left for the hospital. When he reached the hospital, he dashed into shivani's room directly. He saw her sitting on the bed and rushed to her side,
"Tu uthi kyu? Tujhe rest karne k liye kaha Tha na?" Vikrant said inspecting shivani's injuries.
"Vikrant Mei thik hu, do din se rest hi to Kar rahi thi." Shivani gave him a weak smile. Vikrant smiled back and that's when he noticed there was someone else in the room with them. Shivani realized it and introduced them,
"Vikrant ye ASP Aditi Sharma, meri subordinate, jab tak mei yahan hoon ye teri help karegi. Aur Aditi ye.."
"ACP vikrant singhal." vikrant extened his hand and introduced himself.
"Hi.." Aditi accepted the hand shake with a bright smile.
Vikrant looked up to her eyes and was instantly lost in those hazel pools. For couple of minutes he forgot why he was here or that he was still holding Aditi's hand. Aditi's condition wasn't any different, she found vikrants stare piercing through her, and for some reason she felt a pull towards him. She was supposed to say something but she forgot what it was.
Shivani looked at Aditi's face and then vikrant, her jaws dropping to the floor she sucked in a breath.
"Oh. My. God!"
The sound brought the other two out of their day dreams. And they immediately left each other's hand. Aditi mentally kicked herself, he was her senior. She turned towards Shivani,
"Shivani tum log baatein Karo mei bahar wait karti hu. Take care."
Without waiting for shivani's reply she ran outside. Shivani looked at Aditi's retrieving form and turned to face vikrant who was looking at her sheepishly.
"Tujhe to do seconds bhi nahi lage phisalne me! Adat gayi nahi Teri abhi tak!"
"Nahi aisa nahi hai, mujhe lagta Hai meine ise pehle bhi kahin dekha hai." Vikrant said looking towards the door.
"Bas bas, ye pick up line na tu kisi aur pe use karna. Wo Delhi me hi pali-badi hai. Aur ab use chhod ye Bata mere attacker ke bareme kuchh pata Chala?" Shivani tried changing the topic.
"Nahi abhi Tak to nahi, lekin agar tujhe kuchh bhi yaad hai to tell me. Kya tune use dekha tha? May be koi tattoo ya kuchh? Ya kuchh suna tha?"
Shivani suddenly remembered the laugh she had heard when she was attacked and she told vikrant about it.
".. aur kuchh yad nahi hai mujhe." She said helplessly.
"Koi baat nahi, hum pata laga lenge. Tu rest kar. Mei sham ko aaunga." Vikrant gave her a smile.
"Tu case pe dhyan de paega na?" There was a mischievous glint in shivani's eyes when she said this. Vikrant narrowed his eyes at her,
"Shut up! And sleep." And he left the room. Shivani laughed at it.
When vikrant came out of the room he looked around for Aditi, she was sitting on one of the chairs outside. He went near her,
"Chalein ASP?"
Aditi got up when she heard vikrant and followed him to the car. Once in the car he started Updating Aditi on the case,
"Iske bareme tum janti hi hogi. Shivani isi pe kam Kar rahi thi, jab uspe attack hua."
"Yes sir. Delhi me hum isi case pe kam kar rahe the. Fir pintu wahan se bhag nikla and shivani uska pichha karte karte yahan aa gayi." Aditi replied.
"Haan use Shivani ne hospital me pohoncha Diya Hai.."
"Yes sir, jis raat Shivani pe attack hua Tha usne mujhe call kiya tha. Usne hospital me jo hua wo bataya tha mujhe. Isiliye usne mujhe yahan bula liya." Aditi said interrupting vikrant.
Vikrant simply stared at her with wide eyes. Aditi took it as he was annoyed at her for interrupting him. And she apologized.
"Sorry sir aap kuchh bol rahe the."
"Nahi.. lagta hai tumhe is case ke bareme sab pata Hai. Not bad ASP!" Vikrant said with a smile and continued looking in front at the road.
"Aur tum mujhe vikrant bula sakti ho. Itne formality ki jaroorat nahi hai." He added.
"Yes si.. vikrant."
Vikrant smiled at it. He liked how his name sounded coming from Aditi. Sh*t! It had been only 20 minutes since he met her and this was quick even for him. He was brought out his thoughts when Aditi asked him where they're heading. He told her they were going to the hospital to question pintu again. When they reached the hospital, the doctor informed them that pintu had escaped two days back. Vikrant got really frustrated at this and ran a hand through his hair,
"Ek patient pe nazar nahi rakh sakte aap log? Aur wo do din pehle bhag gaya aur ab Bata rahe Hai? Kya khak duty karte ho tum log?" He almost shouted at the doctor. Vikrant turned and aggressively walked back to his car Aditi close on his heels.
Vikrant called Joshi and gave him pintu's information. He and Aditi got into the car and he started driving towards Shaitan chauki. On their way he told Aditi about Shaitan chauki and that they'll be able to find something on pintu and vanraj over there. Once they were at the chauki, they took some files and split between themselves. Vikrant sat at one desk and Aditi took another one. After going through some files Aditi found something. She took the file to vikrant,
"Vikrant! Ye dekho. Pintu isse pehle bhi drug case me involved tha. Tab use mumbai police ne kisi abandoned building se pakda tha, aur.."
".. aur ho sakta hai wo is bar bhi wahi chhupa ho.." vikrant completed her statement and looked up at her. Their faces were inches apart, it was happening again, they found themselves lost in each other's eyes again. Suddenly vikrants phone rang and they came back to reality.
It was Joshi, he gave vikrant address to that same abandoned building and he and aditi set out for it. It was almost dark when they reached the location. Vikrant and Aditi decided to split up to cover more ground. They both headed in two different directions with their guns and flash lights. At one point of search, vikrant heard a sound behind him and he turned and aimed his gun and flash light at the intruder, but it was just Aditi.
"Kuchh mila?" She asked once he had confirmed it was her.
Before he could reply, they heard a loud blast from inside the building. As soon as they stepped inside the building Aditi got a weird feeling that something was wrong. She looked around and heard some voices coming from behind a closed door.
"Kya tumhe wo awaj sunai de rahi Hai?" Asked vikrant.
"Tumhe bhi logon ke chikhne ki awazein aa rahi hai?" Aditi asked surprised.
"Kya? Kuchh jal raha hai. Uski awaz hai." Vikrant kicked down the door and they entered the room.
They found pintu lying on the floor amidst burning papers. Those papers had some symbols drawn on them. Vikrant and Aditi didn't waste any time and dragged pintu out of that room.
