RK gets the state award for anandam

CHENNAI: The State Government on Friday announced awards for the silver screen and TV serial artistes for the year 2006.

A committee headed by Justice Maruthamuthu has selected actor Kushboo and Abhisek as best actress and actor for their performance in the serials Kalki and Malargal, respectively.

Both the awardees would receive a gold medal weighing five sovereign along with certificates. Similarly, Selvi was shortlisted as the best mega-serial, followed by Sorgam and Alli Rajiyam.

The Best Achiever Award for the year was conferred on Tiruchelvam for his role in the serial Kolangal, while Lifetime Achiever Award was conferred on Rani Somanathan. Delhi Kumar was selected as the best supporting actor for his performance in the serial Anantham.

About 17 awards were announced on Friday. The shortlisted awardees will receive the awards from Chief Minister M Karunanidhi at a function to be held soon, a release said.

I always thought RK was good on the show till his on-screen wife was alive.

Actually, Jagdu. I hated the RK role role until after he was heartbroken following the transfer of his house and disappeared into an ashram and had a change of heart. Until then, he was a male chauvinist who treated Raji like a doormat. But, of course, now he has swung too much in the direction of a do-gooder.
