Arjun is complaining about Anitha's behaviour to friend Keshav. Probed by Keshav, he reveals that the Karthik-Shanthi-Manisha triangle is the cause of the needless tiff. Keshav chides him and points out, rightly, that Arjun and Anitha have no right to make a decision in a matter involving Karthik. Arjun remonstrates that Karthik hasn't been able to make a decision, which is why he has to do so on his behalf. He explains why he thinks Shanthi is the one who has the right to live with Karthik whereas Mani, who has been talking about making way for Shanthi, is making no sign of leaving. Keshav suggests that Arjun speak directly to Manisha. Arjun demurs but Keshav persuades him. Keshav even suggests that Arjun make a pretence of falling on her feet. He advises Arjun not to do anything rash as Shanthi's whole life is at stake.

Naradhar Srini is waiting to see Sammandhi, who comes in saying she had felt a bit uneasy and had therefore done a small prayer. Srini says he had just gone to see SKPD and realized that her situation was grave and perhaps Abhi had had telepathic communication of his conversation with SKPD. He says Abhi should have engaged in deeper prayer. Abhi is perplexed. Srini says Abhi should go see dad in prison. Abhi wonders why Srini is telling her so after having earlier advised her not to visit SKPD. Srini explains that circumstances have changed. He says SKPD's trust in her had shaken. SKPD had become suspicious because on the two occasions before he was nabbed by police he had spoken to dear daughter. As a shocked Abhi is digesting the news, Naradhar invokes Narayana in silent prayer.

Arjun goes to see Manisha and starts his monologue: I pitied you when I found out that Karthik gave you a child and dumped you for Shanthi. I have had sleepless nights thinking about your situation. I felt sorry that Karthik had dumped a good woman and had even scolded Karthik for what he had done. But I would like to see Shanthi live a good life. You sacrificed your love, now please sacrifice your life. Mani responds that she is ready to leave the minute Shanthi says go. Arjun says Shanthi won't tell her to leave as Shanthi is trying to sacrifice her position for Manisha. He says he wouldn't be interfering and speaking to Mani ? and it wouldn't be proper for him to do so ? if she hadn't said she didn't want to live with Karthik. Then he appeals to Mani's feelings for Karthik. Karthik feels like dying because of this mess he is in; if you have any interest in his welfare, please go. Arjun then enacts his drama: I am ready to fall on your feet. Please go. He raises his hand in prayer and then leaves. Mani shows a tensed expression.

Abhi meets Daddy in prison. SKPD says he has begun to realize that Abhi has been a calculating person. He says he had understood why she needed to take refuge in Charu's house but accuses her of failing to visit him. Besides, he says, it was Srini who had taken the trouble to redeem his house. And even when the house was redeemed, Abhi had failed to move into it. As Abhi remonstrates and asserts her innocence, SKPD says Charu's intention is to see him in prison for life. And, Abhi had become a slave to Charu now and was doing her bidding in this regard, trying to put a noose around his neck. Abhi charges that SKPD is showing his anger at "Amma" towards her. SKPD pounces on her use of the word "Amma" and says Abhi has proven that she is now Charu's daughter. He asserts that he will henceforth decide on his future himself. Abhi sobs as SKPD storms away.

RK in his rocking chair, as usual, gazing at Raji's life-sized photo. Ammijaan comes in. (Gosh, I hate this woman's childish voice. Or is it some dubbing artiste's voice? They should have swopped Manisha's and her mother's voices.) An emboldened Ammi speaks assertively to RK but still in her irritatingly childish voice. Dear RK, nobody is making any decision about my dear daughter's life and therefore Mani and I have made a decision (that's a lie, Ammi; Mani never agreed to your unilateral decision). Mani had helped save Karthik's life and then borne him a son. Both she and I struggled to keep little Rocky out of Sameer's sight and finally delivered him up to Karthik after six years. Karthik had said that had he known Mani was pregnant with his child, he would never have married Shanthi. Therefore, it is only proper that Shanthi should leave the house. Now, Shanthi has brought Mani into the house, claiming she wants to give a life to Mani but is making no sign of moving out herself. Instead, we are all bystanders to this ridiculous mnage-a-trois. So, daughter dear and I have made up our minds. Either Shanthi should leave and Mani should live with Karthik. Or give us some money in settlement and we will go, leaving your varisu with you. (Ammi, asking for a monetary settlement -- not a good tactic though Karthik is obliged to give money; offering to leave and giving us viduthalai is a excellent idea, Ammi.) Freeze on a shocked RK.
