Alka Yagnik's luggage goes missing

Mera Kuch Samaan...: Alka Yagnik pic/ Pradeep Dhivar
Singer/ reality show judge Alka Yagnik recently flew off to the US after quitting Gajendra Singh's Voice Of India (Star Plus).

The B-Town singer wanted to dissociate herself from the programme as things were not hunky-dory on the sets.

However, Alka's woes did not end even after she quit the show. Much to her chagrin, her baggage went missing when she landed in the US.

As a result, the singer had to face a harrowing time waiting for her belongings!

Missing bag

Speaking from Minneapolis, Alka admits that her luggage went missing on arrival in Los Angeles. "I flew with Air India and there was a halt at Frankfurt.

I guess that was when my bag went missing. I brought it to the notice of the authorities and I've been told that it has been found, but I haven't received it yet."

Break free

The songstress describes her US visit as a work-cum-pleasure trip. "There are some concerts as well as some business meetings to attend.

I will be travelling across the US and later to Canada as well. I have not yet fixed a date for my return to Mumbai; it will be after a while."

So how is she coping without her bags? "I had another bag with me, so I am managing," she says. "I am hopeful of the missing bag arriving soon."

Bygones

As for the Voice of India show, she says, "They want me to return to the show but I have decided against it. I've been part of Gajendra Singh's earlier Zee show, Li'l Champs, but my experience with Voice of India was something else.

I don't want to get into the reasons now that I have left the show. All I can say is that I didn't subscribe to certain views on the show."

Along with Alka, singer Abhijit, music composers Jatin-Lalit and Aadesh Shrivastava are part of the jury in Voice of India.

That's why the advertisements of your show are being telecasted in US for the past one and half months.

You had to quit the show anyhow. You all did some nautanki to raise the TRP's. Gajju Singh "Sudhar ja beta".

Exactly.

This is like the hype surrounding Shaan's leaving EMET. He had to go anyway.

Do you think they will replace her or just go with four male judges?

It is also possible that Alka had planned to take a break and go for the shows in US, but was planning to return to VOI after that. But maybe the atmosphere in VOI got so vitiated that she's decided not to go back to it after the US shows. Just a thought.

Good though Sahana - it always makes sense to think 'out-of-the-box'...

I wish there indeed is a replacement - atleast, she was the one who usually tried to maintain the sanity between Adesh and Abhijeet... How I am wanting to see Kavitha Krishnamurthy/Sadhana Sargam in the show!

I think most singers and MDs wouldn't sign an exclusive contract with TV channels and give up overseas shows. They would probably have a clause which states that they can still sing in overseas shows provided a certain notice period is given - which Alka might have given. After all, even Himesh disappeared from SRGMP in some episodes due to other commitments.

I don't think the bad vibes between Aadesh and Alka is orchestrated, because Gajendra Singh might have given a free hand to all the judges to do whatever they like, and thereby increase TRPs with their antics.

TRP Gimmick again.. Ufff, I dont understand why reality shows do all such drama.. Yes, Sahanaji's point can also be a valid one.. But she could have explained it saying she has a tour and that she will not only be taking the break but also quitting the show.. She just mentioned it as she is quitting the show to the media..

anuradha paudwal was a judge on the very early srgma show.she used to insist on the song being sung exactly like the original..and has a sort of morose personality.
