Akela - Poised for action!
Sony seems to have big plans in the offing. After sprucing up the afternoon slot with new shows, the channel is all set to air a supernatural drama, Akela.
Produced by Fireworks and directed by Glen Baretto and Ankush Mohla. The one hour weekly stars Sudhanshu Pandey, Sumeet Raghavan, Ashka Goradia, Pankaj Dheer, Mihir Mishra and Mahii Vij.
The show premiers on 4 July at 10 pm on Sony. Akela is the story of an ex-police officer, Ranvir (Sudhanshu Pandey), who went into coma due to an encounter. After eight years he comes out of it and is shocked to see his fianc, Kinnari (Ashka Goradia) married to someone else. Ranvir's friend Savio (Sumeet Raghavan), who died in the same encounter, connects him with the living world and the world of the dead. Ranvir tries to use his unique powers for the benefit of people around him. Besides, he is also approached by dead people with their cases in order to know who has killed them.
The series producer-director B.P Singh stated, "Akela will stand apart. We have made a concoction of a soap and a supernatural thriller." Sudhanshu Pandey who plays Ranvir in Akela has made a comeback on television after a five-year gap and is all gung-ho it.
"I did cameos on TV after Kanyadaan and Cook It Up With Tarla Dalal. And a couple of films in between. I took up this role for the simple reason that this is going to be an extra-ordinary show and I have a meaty and challenging role. I also have a few films lined up for release this year, " he declares. Here's hoping that this supernatural thriller, which claims to be different, does make a difference in television viewing!
