Food Vs Fitness
A face off with Sumeet Raghavan

Sumeet Raghavan is one of the most visible faces in the Indian advertising industry, with more than a couple of hundred ads to his name. He has created a name for himself on the small screen by portraying some memorable characters like the adorable driver in Hadh Kar Di (Zee TV - 1998) and ofcourse, the lovable Dr. Sahil Sarabhai in Sarabhai vs Sarabhai (Star One - 2005). He is the perfect husband to his wife, Chinmayee and the perfect dad to his two kids.

ShaadiTimes spoke to Sumeet about his fitness and food regime.

Fitness and food...
I am not into 'gymming'. I don't have any fitness routine. I just try to avoid food high in calories. During shoots, I prefer home food and fruits. My meals normally consist of dal, subzi and roti . I have the rice that is provided on the sets. But for dinner, I completely avoid rice.

The food I love...
I have a massive sweet tooth and once in a while, I do binge. I try to avoid it, but the temptation is too much to resist. I love non-veg food. My favourite is the mutton cooked by my wife.

The best chef award goes to...
My wife is a fantastic cook. Even a simple dal made by her tastes delicious. Non-veg is her specialty. It may sound like a cliche, but besides my wife, my mom is the best cook. I mean, it is such a repeated answer, lekin hai toh hai, kya karein?

Bombay meri jaan...
I love Bombay food. No other place can boast of so many types of cuisines co-existing at one place, you have North Indian, South Indian, Gujarati, Bengali and international cuisines like Italian, Mexican, Chinese, Thai, Japanese. I prefer having home food most of the times, but I love Gypsy near Shivaji Park, it is like a second home to me. I like Italian cuisine too.

I, the cook...
I don't cook, but I can cook to save my life. Last year, during the 26/7 floods, my wife was visiting her native place and I had sent my kids to Pune. Those few days I cooked simple things like dal , roti and easy to make vegetables. I can make real good French Toast.

French toast by Sumeet Raghavan
Take 2 eggs and break them into a large bowl.
Beat the eggs and add a teaspoon of milk.
Add salt, pepper and coriander to taste. Do not mince or cut the coriander into very tiny pieces. It is best to cut it by hands.
Whip the mixture.
Add oil in pan, preferably olive oil - just 6-7 drops, and put the pan on the stove.
Take bread pieces, dip it into the mixture and put it in the pan. After sometime, turn the piece upside down.
Serve hot.

Pearls of wisdom...
I am a total foodie. I love to eat anything and everything. My wife keeps a check on my food habits. It's a weakness with me; I can't refrain from eating. But, at the same time, I would advise the readers to eat healthy food. I am calorie conscious. I don't have a food regime, but it's always important to eat your meals on time and follow a routine. If you eat dinner at 10 p.m., make sure to have it everyday at 10 p.m. Sometimes my routine goes for a toss as I come home late at nights after shoots. But it is not advisable to eat late at nights.
