Yo Pankhis!
I am back with another OS! ๐
I am already going mad by making my brain overwork over all the possibilities of what is going to happen next. ๐
I guess, writing an os has calmed me down a bit. ๐
Okay. Now no more blabbering. On with the One-shot (pls don't mind typos). Another thing, Vikram might appear a bit out of character in this os, but i guess its just necessary ๐

Right by your side
" I want this report done now!" he glared at shobha. "Do it however you want to. I want the file on my desk."
Shobha kept looking at him.
"Is my face that pretty?" he almost shouted to her face. "GO! NOW!"
" Huh? " was all Shobha could manage to utter before she hurried out.
She could make out his face through the glass panels separating them.
Why does he have to behave like an annoying jerk?
She calmly gazed at him.
His perfect facial features, those dark serious eyes, his patented frown plastered on his beautiful face, his voice ...
Hold on! What the hell am I thinking!?
Vikram looked up to see Shobha staring at him. He raised his eyebrows. Feeling embarrassed, she quickly turned, her face turning a light shade of pink.
Without wasting a moment, she got back to her report. Vikram would chew her raw if he doesn't get the file in precisely, she calculated, in an hour.
I haven't got time.Oh. My phone! Its almost dead. I have to meet the lawyer too.
She peeked at Rehaan and Jiya's photo on her desk. She smiled sadly.
Watch on kiddos. Mumma will make you proud.
Her children were solely dependant on her now. Her mother in law had never approved her doing this job, and after recent developments in her life, their relation was deteriorating for the worse however hard she tried to save. In fact, there was nothing left to save. A mere formal convos were what now remained.
Her only support - Garima was hastily married off to Ajay. She had protested so much, no one paid any heed. Garu's morose face she could never forget. She had lost her best friend. She felt as if the whole universe was conspiring against her. What wrong she had done?
The only thing that made her a bit calm was Tarun's decision, but she still held grudges against him. Tarun felt like he had a chance to manipulate her Mom and asked her to stay with them. Shobha was more than happy to be with the kids alone without any more taunts and tensions that were already haunting her though she missed Garu dearly.
Her husband- she hated to call that man her husband - Samarth was such a demoniac, cruel. Instead of supporting her and children, he was more hellbent on making her resign from her job. Why? She had asked that question to herself so many times, yet every time, her heart screamed out an answer she never wanted to admit.
And now the divorce and custody of kids...
His doings were acceptable? Why would a woman forgive her husband if he was have multiple extramarital affairs? He thought it was a mistake.
Really?
At first she really wanted him to be out of jail. But now, she thought otherwise.
She had though Samarth would change after being in jail. Now she knew he wouldn't even if the world was to end.
Not just her, but he had betrayed his own country by giving out defence secrets.
Her trust ,her faith shattered like a fragile glass when she saw the divorce papers in front of her and the affidavit.
What was she supposed to do?
Garu's words played in her mind.
She had tough decisions to make and like a miracle, Vikram had made her comprehend the difficult circumstances she was in.
She had almost signed on the affidavit to bail out Samarth, but what did she get? Threat of divorce and kids custody.
No, divorce it is! I will fight for kids custody! She was determined.
I wouldn't want my kids to grow up with a man so cruel, tainted as a father. They might well grow without a father...
She sighed.
Her life was playing games with her, she knew. Through the past few days, she had realised and understood far more things.
If Samarth had not been jailed, i would have remained as a dumb, idiot housewife forever who lived in her small fantasy land created by her man. Literally a doormat.
She had cursed her fate, cursed her destiny so much. She felt her life had shattered.
But now, she realised it. She was bestowed with a second chance. She has the chance ofcollecting the pieces that were missing. Joining them. She had the chance to start her life anew. And she was doing exactly that.
Whatever happens, happens for the best, she believed.
His words, they affected her. Who would have thought that Vikram could pacify her? Console her? She probably owed him her life. When ahe thought about it, he was always there for her. Every time. Encouraging her, supporting her. Always by her side.
Shobha checked her watch. Three minutes left. She was almost done with her report. Taking the file with her, she entered his cabin. She looked around, he was not there. Anyway she kept the file on his desk and left. She had a meeting with a client in half hour.
She had never felt like this before. Doing her job, working hard for her children. It felt all good. Yet, a certain tiredness loomed over her. She felt she hadn't smiled in ages. Her eyes looked weary and fatigued.
Picking up her bag and informing Mahesh, she left.
...
"Jiyu! Tears again? " Vikram hugged his little angel.
" Rehaan is staying with bua. I was alone today. I was worried that mumma was not picking up her phone. I got scared... " she trailed off, muttering between sobs. "So I called you..."
" Here, " Vikram wiped her tears. " My brave girl. C'mon. Let's go. " he said motioning towards the door.
" Where are we going? Mom will be in her office.. "
Shobha's face flashed before him. Tired, wary of all the tensions and burden...
He pondered before replying.
"Yes. We're going to my office. Lets surprise you mom," he winked.
Grinning, Jiya rushed outside and readily jumped into car.
...
Oh God! I have a meeting with Vikram.
"Hurry, bhaisaab. I am already late. " she requested the taxi driver.
She hastily paid the fare and dashed down the corridor to the lift.
...
Vikram pushed open the door for Jiya. In one hand she held her favorite strawberry icecream while other had chocolates.
"It is so big and clean! " Jiya exclaimed observing her surroundings.
" Liked it? " Vikram suddenly felt proud that someone was complimenting him." Want to see my cabin? "
" Of course!" Jiya jumped with joy, holding her icecream in air.
Vikram chuckled, picking her up in his arms. He walked towards his cabin, ignoring the weird and shocked expressions his employees had on their faces.
...
Panting heavily, she dropped her bag on the chair near reception.
I reached on time! She sighed.
Picking up her bag, she took small, weary steps. Just as she entered, she noticed a certain restlessness and surprise among her colleagues. Everyone seemed to talk about something in hushed voices, probably afraid of their boss.
What now? She mentally thought. She internally prayed that they weren't gossiping about her.
Taking a deep breath, she pushed open the glass door with confidence.
One of her colleague noticed her and rushed to her.
"You are back? " Shobha eyed her with suspicion.
" Yes. Why. . are you asking? " Shobha took a chance. " Did anything happen when I left? "
" Exactly Shobha!" Oh no... "Our boss.. Mr . Vikram.. . "
Vikram? What of him?
Shobha raised her eyebrows.
" He has a daughter!" Neeta almost shouted.
Shocked at hearing those words, her bag slipped from her hand, landing on the floor with a loud thud.
She gulped.
"A daughter? " Shobha blinked.
" Yess... "
" But wasn't he... " Shobha trailed off. What is the meaning of this? A daughter? He never told me...
" Are you sure? " Shobha asked, equally shocked.
Why would he tell me.. But how is that even possible!?
"NO... I mean, yes. She HAS to be. He hugged her! Ate icecream with her and made her drink milk too! "
Hugged? Ice cream?
Memory of jiya's dentist day fluttered before her. That guy is so worried about germs and cleanliness. How can he hug someone?
Shobha was on the verge of fainting. He doesn't even shake hands with anyone!
I need to see them.
Only Mahesh looked happy. She rushed to her table and peeked through the glass panels.
Vikram was comfortably sitting on his chair, a small, cute girl on his lap busy pointing out something on the table. Vikram picked the paper she had pointed and called Mahesh.
"MAHESH! " Jiya screamed after Vikram, copying his style and tone.
Mahesh darted inside, adjusting his coat. Shobha looked on, completely baffled.
JIYA!! Oh God...! Every one thinks Vikram is her father!
"Cancel today's meetings. I am going home."
"CANCEL TODAY'S MEETINGS! " Jiya repeated in mock seriousness. " I AM TIRED! " she said, snatching papers from Vikram, handed them out to Mahesh and adjusted Vikram's oversized specs resting on her nose.
Jiya turned to Vikram smiling and they both burst out laughing.
Is this a dream? JIYA!! What is she doing here?! Am I dreaming or is Vikram actually laughing?
Without any formalities she entered his cabin, getting you-are-so-dead glares from her fellow colleagues.
For a moment, everyone became dead silent. Not a tiny sound.
Angry as well as shocked she was, Vikram noticed it.
He stared at her and raised his eyebrows. Her eyes found Jiya whispering something to Vikram.
Still in her I-AM-THE-BOSS character, Jiya chuckled, taking off glasses in style and gave Vikram a high-five.
Folding her hands, shobha cleared her throat, clearly angry and expecting a detailed explanation from both of them.
Jiya turned to face her mother. They both said in unison,
"WHAT??! "
She narrowed her eyes, for a split second, she looked angry. Jiya quickly hugged Vikram, naturally afraid of her mum'sfury.
The scene in front of Shobha was something she always wanted to percieve. Jiya looked so happy!
A big smile crept on her face. Shobha shook her head in denial. Understanding this guy was beyond her ability.
...
This is it folks. Do let me know if you liked this one shot ๐ณ
