Chap-13 Sound of Music
Although the condition of Dr.Shruti was stable the doctors had confirmed that the recovery is going to be a long drawn process. She had 20% severe burns and about 28% medium and less burns on the left side of her body including face, bosoms and on the upper and lower portion of the waist. Her parents had arrived and the police was already investigating the case. Akash and Ananya were trying to help as much as they could and they hardly had found time to spend together. Both of them were shaken and worried after the incident and wanted to support Shruti and her family as they are going to fight a long physical and emotional battle.
Note: As we turn our backs when we see an acid attacked victim, please remember and pass it on to your acquaintances that it's the culprit that the society should turn its back on and not the victim. The victim needs our love and care to come to grip with life.
The police had started investigations into the incident and were still to find a worthy clue to pursue further. The police had questioned Akash also since the day the attack happened Shruti was seen around Akash during lunchtime. The only time Akash and Ananya could spend together was during the weekends when both of them would meet at the orphanage and spend time with the kids and the staff. As people say love transforms you and Akash had started to love everything that Ananya likes , he really loved being with the kids and playing with them. Sometimes if Ananya could not make it, he would go and play cricket. Both of them helped them prepare for the annual day charity event. Ananya although could sometimes feel that she had a special place in Akash life which was beyond friendship but since she had always heard from people the kind of girls who were his fans , she was not sure whether Akash would ever have anything special for a simple girl like her. Although her heart wanted to confess her mind stopped her and she was not ready to stake his friendship because of this so she just decided to go with the flow. Meanwhile Akash continued helping Shruti's father and mother alongwith Ananya to get hold of things because they were new to the city. It had been almost a few weeks now and the investigation had been moving at a snail's pace. Akash and Shruti's dad were trying to follow up but the police had rebuked them saying that she had multiple boyfriends and this was bound to happen. Akash was appalled at the insensitiveness and had decided to take on the authorities but Shruti's parents had given up. Akash and Ananya had tried convincing them to stay back and they would be helping, even Shefali and Kunal also had tried their sources but Shruti's old parents had seen enough to have the courage and patience to continue. Finally Shruti's parents decided to take her back to their hometown in Diburgarh (Assam) and continue further treatment. They were not sure whether and when she will return back to work but given the circumstances they would want Dr.Shruti to continue there. Although Akash decided to pursue the case but he also knew with Shruti and her parents not in vicinity of the police they would be easily able to put the file in junk.
Finally the D-Day had arrived for the children of the orphanage and it was their Annual day Charity event. As the enthusiastic bunch of children got ready for their performances Ananya as usual started twisting her fingers and pacing up & down and when Sister Maria asked she told her that she promised the children they would have audience and even half an hour before the event nobody has come in. She really did not know how she is going to fulfill their wish. But little did she know that her lucky charm was around and would never let her down. It was just 15mins before the event would start and very few people had come in from Ananya's contacts, all of a sudden people started trooping in, some of them she knew as they were from NIAMS and some of them she did not, and in no time the gallery was full. As all of them entered at last walked in Akash. On seeing him,Ananya was in tears, he signaled to her to smile and bowed a little and Ananya smiled back to him and he gave a small thumbs up. The performance started with the children and sometimes Ananya supporting them, and then they were followed with performances by the local artisans. People had enjoyed the performance and clapped wholeheartedly and the children were on cloud nine. The finale was with Ananya's performance on "Radha kaise na jale"(From movie Lagaan).The announcement of the final surprise of the evening was made and Ananya's favourite Juhi came up on the stage dressed as Krishna and started uttering some lines half she remembered and half forgotten before Ananya stepped in to perform alongwith her. Everybody was in splits as the fearless little girl spoke on stage and threatened people to clap. As Ananya came up on the stage dressed in a purple and yellow lehenga ornate with silver work and ordained with silver jwellery, Akash looked at her mesmerized. He had seen her perform but he had no idea that she would look so beautiful, like a mermaid of his dreams. He remembered their first interaction and him calling her Chasmish, behenji and what not and now she was his mermaid. He simply wished that he would be the Krishna of his Radha and dance with her, take her in his arms and kiss her tempting lips till they were running out of breath. He imagined he was with Ananya (his Radha) in a fairyland surrounded by beautiful flora and fauna and as his Radha danced he caught her from behind with his hands tickling her petite waist as she shivered in his arms and blushed, he took in her fresh lavender smell, breathing her in and feeling her heart beats go faster as he captured her lips drinking in the nectar. Akash did not realize that the performance had come to an end till he was shaken by a thundering round of applause.
As the event came to an end, the children surrounded their Akash bhaiyya and lifted him up thanking him profusely for making them perform to a full gallery. Akash had got hold of all people he knew including Dr. Rohit , his friends, neighbors to attend the event. Akash at the moment only wanted some time alone with his Ananya but she was busy with everyone and finally she pulled him to a dinner with the children. Akash had no option but to join but he was sad that from the next day he was going to be in the cardiac center till the replacements are in place. Ananya was also sad but she was fighting with her feelings and trying to hide it from Akash. She too wanted to spend some time alone with him but she knew how much she was going to miss Akash and she would cry if they were alone and what if he doesn't reciprocate her feelings. Both of them blissfully unaware of their feelings were alone dealing with the mind and heart battles of each other in a crowd. They were however happy that their show was a success and the children felt so proud of their Akash bhaiyya and Ananya didi. Akash was lost in Annaya on the way back and her called her immediately after he reached and both had talked once again before wishing each other goodnight. When Rohit had later called Akash he said " Yeh Dr.Rawat to chupi rustam nikli yaar,yeh to bahut achhi dancer hain...humein to lagta tha ki who sirf apne kaam mein chipki rehti hain.
Ak: Hmm there are lots of things you will know about her when you interact.
Ro: Akash kahin tujhe usse ishq to nahin ho gaya hain. Tu uske saath uske orphanage jata hain, uske liye itne saare logon ko tu event ke liye lekar gaya, just to make her happy.
Ak : I wont lie to you. You are one of my best buddies, yes she is the girl I have fallen in love with. After meeting her I have realized what love is and how nice it is to be falling in love.
Ro: Wow Akash!! I am so happy for you. Although I never thought you would ever fall in love with somebody like Ananya but if she has captured your heart, I am sure she must be something. What about Natasha, what are you going to tell her?
They continued their talk for some time but Akash was deeply thinking now as to how to tell Natasha now that he was sure of his feelings and he could no more keep them in dark for both Ananya and Natasha.

Chap 14- Sixth Sense
A couple of weeks had passed by Akash and Ananya had hardly met. Akash had been busy with handling the duties at the new location as he was new and had to know the rules and the procedures of the department. More than Akash , Ananya had been busy as she has been assisting Dr. Rathore in prestigious project which has been personally launched by Dr.Gupta. Although Akash had tried to make himself understand that Ananya was not able to take out time to meet him but with each day he was more concerned. Rohit had asked Akash if he had confessed to Ananya about his feelings or if she has and on hearing that none had, he had warned Akash to confess as soon as possible else since he was not going to be around Ananya, she might drift away from him. He had initially not believed Rohit although he had desperately wanted to confess his feelings but soon he had noticed the camadarie between the two. He had seen one day Ananya and Dr. Rathore laughing and having coffee in the canteen and both seemed comfortable with each other. Although Ananya had walked up to him and spoken for some time but he had been hurt and given a cold shoulder and since she had to leave for Dr. Gupta's place, both of them had left in Dr. Rathore's car.
In a couple of days Akash had to leave for a health camp for 15days in a village nearby as part of their social activities of the organization. Akash had not called much Ananya and Ananya had decided to speak to him once he returns because she understood that he was angry with her as she was not able to spend much time with him. At the end of the day she would be so tired that once she fell asleep while talking to Shefali when she was away. The project was having strict deadlines and she wanted to explain to Akash the same but he had cautiously avoided her. He had just messaged her that he would be away for 2 weeks for the camp. Ananya had felt very lonely during this period as she wanted to discuss with Akash something else as well. Initially Dr. Rathore had established a very comfortable relationship with the staff and made everybody comfortable but when she had been alone with him, his looks towards Ananya had changed. The way he used to deliberately try to touch her , hold her shoulders, the touch was something she knew was very familiar but it felt to her as if some snake was crawling up her body whenever he was close with her and she was alone. Ananya had tried avoiding being alone with him but somehow there were times it was unavoidable. Ananya had tried to avoid small talk with him and strictly kept up the professional talk only. One day he had tried to hug Ananya and she had moved away just in nick of time and Ananya could not have taken it more and she had burst out on him.
An: Dr. you are my senior and you are here in capacity of a senior doctor assisting Dr.Gupta on this project and I am also doing the same. Let's keep it professional and end this project as soon as possible else I would have to approach Dr. Gupta and let him know.
Rath:Why what have I done. I thought you were a modern girl. You could hug Dr. Saluja in public and you had no qualms about it or is it that only Dr. Saluja is allowed access to touch you. By the way he must not have restricted his access to a hug and how can he if a hot sexy woman is allowing him access.
An: I am warning you Dr. Rathore behave yourself else things will not be good.
Dr. Rathore had almost forced himself on her and tried to kiss Ananya.
Rath: Why Ananya,you are so beautiful, the day I had seen you dance I had lost it. I can give you what Akash can or even more than that. Just one night, that's all I want then you can go with Akash or whoever you want.
Ananya was surprised that she had not noticed him in the crowd but at the moment she had to escape. She had somehow managed to run and escape from his clutches with her kurta torn, scratches on her body, and reached home to Shefali and cried her heart out. The next day Ananya had approached the harassment cell and filed a complaint but Dr. Rathore had turned out smarter. He had already approached Dr. Gupta and the cell and lodged a complaint of sexual harassment. Both Ananya and Dr. Rathore were asked not to report to work till the investigations are made and the guilty identified. Ananya had run here and there not to punish the guilty but to prove her innocence and she had smiled at the irony. She was a tough cookie to crack and she had been strong in the face of all questions and examination done by the board and had come out unscathed. On seeing her courage, another intern nurse had come out in the open and also spoken about the harassment she had faced and they had finally nailed Dr. Rathore.Dr. Gupta had been between the devil and deep sea. On one side was his daughter like Ananya and on the other was his best friend's son. Although he was sure of Ananya being the victim but he did not want to take the call and had encouraged the cell to do a proper investigation and prove the case. The day Ananya had won the case, he had asked Dr. Vikas to pack his bags and go from there because he will not be able to help him as the harassment cell is directly reporting such things to the central women commission and it would be against their rules to keep him. He had personally paid a visit to Ananya to congratulate her on her bravery and explained his position. He had also said sorry to Ananya for not being able to support her openly although she was like his daughter and he trusted her completely. Ananya had wholeheartedly agreed and hugged him to convey her happiness.
In the evening Shefali ,Kunal had decided to celebrate Ananya's win and they had taken her out for dinner. They had felt very proud the way Ananya had handled the situation. As Kunal had stepped away to take a call Shefali had asked if Ananya about Akash , if she had informed him. Ananya had tried to avoid and Shefali and caught her and said
Sh :Ana , don't hide it from me. You think I don't notice. I know that feeling, the look, You are in love with him dear and I suggest you should confess to him as soon as you can.
An: I don't know Shefali, I am not sure if he feels the same way. Of late he seems to be angry with me, not sure why but once he is back from the camp I am going to talk to him.
Sh: Do not let such things gather dust Ananya, its not good for both of you. Voice your feelings to him at least let him know. Once you are done it's a yes or no from him. You need to be brave to face a no and maybe he was never yours and you will need to move on. You cannot be stuck here just hoping that one day he will the first one to confess. Who knows he might be waiting for the same as well.
An: Yes , I think you are right .Once he is back I will talk to him.
By the time Kunal was back so they switched the topic to Dr. Gupta.
Sh: You say Dr. Gupta was sorry but would he have done the same if it had been in this situation in place of you. He would have definitely put that Vikas behind bars. You know what he just pays lip service to you saying you are like his daughter.
Ananya thought it was better not to argue with Shefali at the moment but yes she was like his daughter but not Dr. Gupta's daughter so expecting the same would be too much but she was content with the love the old man showered on her.
