Chap-11 : Lavender
Akash had least enjoyed the party with Rohit, Natasha and gang. He had been introduced to Dr.VIkas Rathore who is a genetic medicine specialist and is Dr.Gupta's old fraternity reference. He heard that he would soon be visiting the research center and Dr. Gupta had asked him to work with Dr. Rawat on a special project. As they were all making fun of Ananya, Akash moved to another end trying to ignore the group. This new doctor did not send out positive vibes and he would also be working with Ananya did not go down well with Akash, and he was little sad about the fact that his time with Ananya would now become shorter. Akash would need to spend more time in the cardiac segment for next month at least since there was a replacement awaited and he would need to help Dr. Shruti there. Thinking of the situation Akash thought he need to now figure out ways of how both he and Ananya could meet more often. He was hell confused with the situation and gulped down the whisky to forget all his worries for now. The only good thing was Natasha would be away for some time at least since she was going for some modeling assignment and he can be at peace for now.
The next day morning as Akash started getting ready to rush to NIAMS so he could catch Ananya on time and walk with her , he remembered that Natasha had asked him to handover a cheque to some orphanage "Home for Unknown" today itself. Akash cursed himself for not getting up early but since it was for an orphanage he decided not to delay and hand it over. As he traversed his bike through the traffic logged narrow roads of Indiranagar to finally reach the orphanage on Old Madras Road, he thanked God for taking pity on him and opening the signals on time. As he entered an old dilapidated building, the guard redirected him to the office of the orphanage. Sister Maria who was the person running the place asked him to wait inside the children's classroom. As he entered the room he saw the various musical instruments kept there, including the guitar and he understood this was the music room for the children. Akash felt a very familiar and very known fragrance and it smelt like lavender, and within a few seconds he realized that it smelt like Ananya and was she around but what was she doing here. Before he could think more some music wafted to his ears and Akash started making his way towards the place from where he could hear the music. As he crossed a few rooms and appeared in a clearing he stood mesmerized by the vision infront of him. There was a wide patio in between two parallel rows of rooms and on the patio stood Ananya, a vision in red and white. She wore a white anarkali suit and a blood red jaipuri dupatta was tied over her shoulders and around her waist. Akash had always liked being with her, enjoyed her company but he never realized she was so beautiful. He looked at the way the tightly-fit ananrkali showed her perfect figure as his eyes ran over her slender long neck, her heaving bosoms as she danced alongwith the kids and her petite waist and as it curved down towards her slender long legs. She was dancing with rhythmic movements to the tune of "Radha kaise na jale" from Lagan and her movements made Akash heart beat race. Her face looked so serene with the huge eyelashes adorning her beautiful eyes which were closed and her thin pink lips which had a beautiful smile on them. As the song got over and she looked straight into Akash and he felt like he was drowning into two beautiful pair of almond shaped eyes. As Ananya got down from the patio and walked towards Akash he realized that the specs were gone and she had left her hair half braided and some strands had escaped from the braid and were stuck to her face because of the sweat after the dance routines. At the moment Akash was feeling jealous of the loose strands of and he wished he could exchange places with them.
Akash came back to reality when Ananya flicked her fingers infront of him and asked "Kahan kho gaye ho Akash. It's such a pleasant surprise, how come you are here". As Akash came back to reality he observed that Ananya looks so pretty without those oversized specs. As both of them sat on the steps of the patio their conversation went on:
Ak: So this is the orphanage you support and spend time during weekends
An : Yes, I love being with these kids. I feel they are a part of me.
Ak: You dance really well, looks like you inherited the culinary skills of your dad and dance skills of your Mom.
An : I hope so but I don't want to pursue it professionally .These kids are having their annual function so helping them a little
Ak: You look beautiful without the specs
Ananya blushed at the compliment and lowered her eyes and when she looked up she saw Akash waving his fingers infront of her.
Ak : Just checking can you see without your specs. If you can see why do you wear those stupid specs. You have beautiful eyes , why hide them behind those specs.
An: Why do I have a feeling that you are trying to flirt with me
Ak: Trying?? I am flirting ..
They both burst out laughing hearing that and as Ananya laughed Akash observed how her face lit up when she smiled and he could spend his entire life with this vision. Soon, they saw a small girl of about five years came running to Ananya and held her waist and Ananya scooped her up and put her on her lap. Seeing them Akash could guess that they were very close to each other and he observed that the girl had a cut on her forehead which looked quite new. As Ananya caught Akash eyes observing the cut , she said
"I wanted to explain to you why I could not come on the day of the presentation .This is Juhi and she is quite close to me, and I feel like she is my unborn sister. She had fallen down from the stairs and had six stiches. I had got a call from here when I was on my way so had to come back here to take care of her."
Akash felt very guilty of what he had done and how he could not figure out that a person like Ananya would never do such a thing but seeing him like this Ananya put a hand on his shoulder and said "Don't feel bad about it Akash. Let's put the past aside and move ahead .I have forgotten about it and you also should let it go". Hearing her say this Akash realized that he was fortunate he had met Ananya and he admitted to himself that he now could not stay away from her. Ananya's smile was his sunshine, her words were his music and being with her his salvation. Yes, he admitted to himself that he was in love deeply, madly, and irrevocably with his lavender girl.

Chap -12 Lurking Danger
As Akash and Ananya continued talking on the patio, Akash had a smile on his face as he was realizing the depth of his feeling for Ananya. He was getting late but he really did not bother as he was lost watching his Ananya smile, laugh, talk and as she cradled Juhi in her arms, Akash imagined his life with her as the mother of their kids. After a couple of hours Akash started leaving only when Ananya reminded him that he needed to work on the presentation and this time he should be doing it himself so he can prove his mettle. Akash thought "I am least bothered about my mettle , I would do anything for you Ananya and if that means this presentation then I will do it for your happiness rather than proving myself".Ananya finally asked Akash that he had not still told her why he was here and when she heard that Natasha had sent a cheque in last night party and he was here to hand over that , she felt a twinge in her heart and she herself did not know as to why hearing Akash was with Natasha the previous night she felt sad and Akash did notice that although he could not fathom the reason. Ananya explained to Akash that this event that they were organizing for the children was a charity event also and they had called in some local singers to be part of it. Although they wanted people to buy tickets and watch the show so they could collect money and it was great of Natasha to buy most of the tickets and pay the money but she would not come and neither any of her friends so basically the children would be performing to an empty gallery. This would be extremely demotivating for the children as they want an audience and she was at pains to make that happen. On hearing that Akash held her shoulders and told her " Ananya , just leave your worries to me .I will ensure that your function has a full gallery."Ananya looked up surprised into Akash eyes and she could see them looking straight into her and she felt the words pulling her heart strings. In a long time she had somebody whom she could share her worries with and one who was willingly taking all her worries and also giving her the confidence that they will be resolved. She smiled and her face lit up and what Akash did next simply took her breath away. He held her face with both his hands and said in a husky voice "You look beautiful when you smile, keep that always, it lights up my day". As Akash got onto his bike with a smile on his face and sped away, Ananya stood rooted at the spot as a current seem to have coursed through her veins with Akash touch and his words.
Akash and Ananya had worked very hard together so Akash could give a good presentation of the project and its progress. During this period they had worked together for hours and they had grown closer together. They had the most blissful moments of their life and they had enjoyed every bit of the moment they had spent together, Akash fully aware of his feelings and he had realized that how true his mother had been now that he had found true love in Ananya. He laughed at himself thinking how he had once thought he would inherit all of NIAMS and lead a life of compromise. Now, his thinking had taken a 360 degrees turn and he knows he can sacrifice everything that he has if required for Ananya's happiness, the girl who has only been always his support and accepted him the way he is without trying to change him. It did not matter to her whether he was shaven properly or was his outfit the right match or whether he had put in a kg more as she never commented on these aspects. She had been the same and indifferent on all these aspects whereas Natasha would not let him get away with all these cosmetic stuff irritating him to hilt. Ananya was confused about her feelings but she too enjoyed the warmth and closeness of Akash. Finally the day of the presentation arrived and Akash had passed out with flying colors. When he came out of the presentation Ananya stood walking up and down and twisting her fingers with worry lines on her forehead and Akash laughed seeing her state and finally told his success story. Ananya was so happy that she did not care who was around and hugged Akash surprising him as well, although he never wanted the hug to end. Soon Ananya realized they were in a public place and moved back and a blush crept up on her cheeks and Akash could not stop himself from saying "I love it when you blush, you turn red and you look really pretty".Ananya stood stumped again at his remark unable to handle all the attention he was giving to her.
Akash had decided to take Ananya out for dinner the next day to let her know what he feels for her and he also wanted to thank her for helping him out with the presentation today. As they were proceeding to the cafeteria for lunch break Akash asked Ananya out for dinner. On hearing the proposal Ananya decided to tease him a little and replied "Let me think, if I am free I will let you know".Akash understood what she was upto and he too joined the game and told her " Ok if you are not available never mind , I have others who would leave everything to have dinner with me". Soon Dr.Shruti entered and came to Akash and wrapped her arms around his shoulders wishing him and Ananya just looked away smiling as Akash jerked at the gesture .Immediately Akash used the situation to his advantage and started flirting with Dr.Shruti and proposed her for dinner to which she readily agreed and Akash gave a knowing smile to Ananya .After some chit-chat as they stood to leave Dr.Shruti asked Akash " So, Akash when are you going to pick me up tonight ".
Ak: For what ???
Sh: For dinner.
Ak: Not today sweetheart. I was just checking if you would be interested. I will let you know when I am free right now I am busy.
Sh: Yes , you will shortly work to help me so I think we will have ample time to catch up
Akash felt a little sad and worried about the entire arrangement and his smile faded.
At about 7pm in the evening after lot of deliberations, Ananya finally decided to wear a yellow and purple bordered Patiala salwar kurta for the dinner and for some reason decided to let her hair loose. She was not largely a make-up person so just a light shade of lip gloss and a touch of mascara finished her make-up alongwith silver jhumkas and silver embroidered bangles. Her phone beeped heralding the arrival of Akash and with lot of anticipation she went ahead to meet him so they could go for dinner together. Akash stood open mouthed when he saw her and he automatically said "beautiful!!!". They stood there for few moments drowning in each other's eyes when Akash phone rang. As he answered the call, the color drained from his face and Ananya was worried looking at him and she asked
An : Is something wrong Akash!!!
Ak: Ananya , somebody has thrown acid at Dr. Shruti, she is seriously injured , lets go..
An: Oh my GOD..Cmon let's go
As Akash started apologizing about spoiling the dinner plans Ananya shushed him saying " Shruti is much more important, dinner can wait".Both of them rushed to NIAMS Burns ward with thousands of questions buzzing in their mind but the answers could wait, for now a friend of theirs was struggling between life and death and her health was the uppermost in their mind.
