Chapter 10

29 October- 10:00

The car slowly came to a stop in front a large warehouse. Aakash looked out of the window. The place certainly seemed eerie and creepy enough to be used as a hideout for kidnappers. Aakash left his car one kilometre away from the warehouse, to make sure that the kidnapper couldn't see him or hear him coming. As he got out of the car, the backup arrived as well. He motioned for everyone to remain quiet, but he needn't have worried; all the men were trained officers and they all knew their job well.

They slowly moved forward towards the warehouse, making sure that no one would be able to see them. Eventually, they reached the entrance to the warehouse. There were two ways and Aakash signalled for half of the group to go to the left and he went to the right with the rest of the group. Gun pointing forward, Aakash kicked down the first door he encountered. But there was no one there. He kept going and kicked down another three doors in the process. Still no one. By this time he was becoming suspicious. How could there be no one keeping a lookout? Were these people that careless? But of what he had heard, these terrorist were professional. They would have never allowed this to happen. And he hadn't gotten information from the other group that had gone the other way either. This could only mean one thing. They had already moved to another place. Damn. How would he be able to track down Ananya now? He had barely found this location. Aakash ran his hand through his hair, extremely frustrated. Why? Why was he always too late?

Aakash turned around and started leaving the lace, but on second thoughts he went back and checked the other rooms. The kidnappers may be laying low to trick him or they could have left a clue by mistake about where they were moving next. Aakash checked through another 4 rooms before he opened a room that gave him a different vibe. He could feel it in his bones. Ananya had been here. Her fragrance still lingered in the air, but it was mixed with a metallic sort of smell. Kind of like...blood. Aakash's heart beat quickened. He noticed a chair in the centre of the room and walked towards it. Blood covered the chair. "Ananya" Aakash gasped. He could imagine what the kidnapers could have done to her to get this result. And it was not pleasant at all. Was she even alive? No, he couldn't think of the alternative. She HAD to be alive. Aakash turned around to leave, but something white caught his eye. He walked towards the haystack and pulled out what he thought was a piece of paper.

On it was written the pilot code that meant that the person who wrote it was fine. It must be from Ananya .But it was written in blood. Aakash cringed at the thought. Ananya had been hurt so much, all because of him. He didn't know how he would be able to face her even if he did manage to save her. But this wasn't the time to become weak. He had to find Ananya before anything worse happened to her. He found another word written on the paper. Vishwakarma. As far as he knew it was an industrial area. Which would be perfect to hide a hostage. He smiled at how smart Ananya was. Even while being held hostage she found a way to get a message across to him. It was then he realised that what he though was a piece of paper was actually thicker than normal paper. He slowly turned it around and what he saw surprised him more than anything he thought possible.

On the photograph was Rohit Mafatlal staring back at him.

What was Rohit Mafatlal's, the CEO if Inde Airlines, picture doing here? Why was it here? And how did Ananya find it? So many questions and not one answer. Unless... unless this was what Mahima had found. From what he knew, Mahima had found evidence against someone in Inde Airlines who was involved in the JeM. When she was murdered, this evidence disappeared. Which could only mean that the murderers would have taken it. And since the same organisation probably kidnapped Ananya, it could have been possible for Ananya to get the pictures. Did that mean that Rohit Mafatlal was the Mastermind? How was this possible? How could the CEO if such a reputed airline become the head of a terrorist organisation? Why would he do that? The list of questions just kept growing, and the answers could only be found from one person. Rohit Mafatlal himself.

Aakash quickly ordered both groups of officers to retreat and start making their way to Vishwakarma. Even though he had gotten a general location, the area was big and he needed officers checking each possible place and quick. Time was running out. He then called the headquarters. "Hello sir. I have some news for you which I was hoping you could shed some more light on."

"Go on."

"I am currently at where Ananya was previously kept and-"

"What do you mean previously?"

"She has been moved but that is not what I want to talk about. I was saying that-"

"Aakash how many times do I have to tell you? Focus on finding the Mastermind. You have already lost the girl again. How do you expect to find her this time?" Aakash was getting more and more frustrated as the senior took up more valuable time.

"Look sir I am extremely sorry to interrupt but that is what I wanted to talk to you about. I have information about the Mastermind."

"Oh okay. I apologise. Continue."

"I have found a message left from Ananya. She was able to get hold of what I believe is the evidence that Mahima had found. The evidence is pictures of the CEO if Inde Airlines, Rohit Mafatlal. This is the missing link we were not able to find before. It is highly likely that Rohit is the Mastermind. It would explain how they are able to get their large amounts of funding and how it could be easy for them to smuggle arms. But we need to make sure. Which is why I have called you. We have everything but motive. We still do not know why he would do this."

"I see. Get these photographs to me as soon as possible. Till then I will try to find out everything about Mafatlal. There must be something about him or his history that would be the cause of his move to become the head of a terrorist organisation. And I want you back here this instant."

"Sir I can get the photographs to you but as of now my priority is still to find Ananya."

"If you go to find that girl who will be directly defying my orders Aakash. I may not be able to take you back on the job if you do that."

"I understand sir but this is extremely important for me. I have to find her."

"I hope you know what you are putting at stake here Aakash. I have called my officers back. They informed me that they were able to pinpoint a few locations where that girl could be. I will send you the locations. But know that after this you will be getting no backup from me."

"I understand sir." Aakash took a deep breath. "Goodbye." The phone clicked shut. What had he done? Had he just willingly given up his job? He supposed he had. But nothing was more important for him right now than Ananya. And he would just have to figure out this on his own.
